Hebrews 4
1 Wherefore, let us be afraid, lest a promise of entrance into the rest, being left, any of you should seem to fall short of it.
অতএব, তাঁর বিশ্রামে প্রবেশ করার প্রতিশ্রুতি বলবৎ থাকলেও, তোমাদের কেউ যেন তা থেকে বঞ্চিত না হয়। এ বিষয়ে এসো, আমরা সতর্ক হই।
2 For glad tidings have been proclaimed to us, as well as to them: but the word which they heard did not profit them; not being mixed with faith in them who heard it.
কারণ তাদের মতো আমাদেরও কাছে সুসমাচার প্রচার করা হয়েছিল; কিন্তু তারা যে বাণী শুনেছিল, তাদের কাছে তা ছিল মূল্যহীন, কারণ যারা বিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে শুনেছিল, তারা তাদের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত থাকেনি।
3 For we, who have believed, do enter into the rest, as he said, "So, I swore, in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest"; namely, from the works that were finished at the formation of the world.
এখন আমরা যারা বিশ্বাস করেছি, তারা সেই বিশ্রামে প্রবেশ করছি, যে বিশ্রামের কথা ঈশ্বর উল্লেখ করেছেন, যেমন তিনি বলেছেন, “তাই আমার ক্রোধে আমি এক শপথ নিয়েছিলাম, ‘আমার বিশ্রামে তারা আর কোনোদিন প্রবেশ করবে না।’” যদিও তাঁর কাজ জগৎ সৃষ্টির সময় থেকে সমাপ্ত হয়েছে।
4 For he has spoken somewhere concerning the seventh day, thus: "And God rested on the seventh day, from all his works."
কারণ সপ্তম দিন সম্পর্কে তিনি কোনও এক স্থানে এই কথা বলেছেন, “সপ্তম দিনে ঈশ্বর তাঁর সমস্ত কাজ থেকে বিশ্রাম নিলেন।”
5 And in this, again, "They shall not enter into my rest."
উপরোক্ত অংশটিতে তিনি আবার বলেন, “তারা আমার বিশ্রামে আর কোনোদিন প্রবেশ করবে না।”
6 Since, then, it remains for some to enter into it, and that they who first received the good tidings, did not enter in on account of unbelief:
একথা এখনও ঠিক যে, কিছু লোক সেই বিশ্রামে প্রবেশ করবে এবং যাদের কাছে পূর্বে সুসমাচার প্রচার করা হয়েছিল, তাদের অবাধ্যতার জন্য তারা প্রবেশ করতে পারেনি।
7 again, he limits a certain day, saying, by David, "To-day," after so long a time; as it is said, "To-day, if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts."
তাই, “আজ” নামে অভিহিত করে ঈশ্বর আর একটি দিন নির্ধারণ করলেন, যেমন ইতিপূর্বে বলা হয়েছে, সেইমতো বহুকাল পরে তিনি দাউদের মাধ্যমে বলেছেন: “আজ যদি তোমরা তাঁর কণ্ঠস্বর শোনো, তাহলে তোমাদের হৃদয়কে কঠিন কোরো না।”
8 For, if Joshua has caused them to rest, he would not, after that, have spoken of another day.
কারণ যিহোশূয় যদি তাদের বিশ্রাম দিতেন, তাহলে ঈশ্বর পরে তাদের আর একটি দিনের কথা বলতেন না।
9 There remains, therefore, a divine rest for the people of God.
তাই ঈশ্বরের প্রজাবৃন্দের জন্য এক সাব্বাথের বিশ্রাম ভোগ করা বাকি আছে।
10 For he who has entered into his rest, has himself, also, rested from his own works, like as God, also, rested from his.
কারণ ঈশ্বর যেমন তাঁর কাজ থেকে বিশ্রাম নিয়েছিলেন, ঈশ্বরের বিশ্রামে যে প্রবেশ করে, সেও তেমনই তার নিজের কাজ থেকে বিশ্রাম নেয়।
11 Wherefore let us carefully strive to enter into THIS REST, lest any one should fall after the same example of unbelief.
সুতরাং এসো, সেই বিশ্রামে প্রবেশ করার জন্য আমরা প্রাণপণ চেষ্টা করি, যেন তাদের অবাধ্যতার দৃষ্টান্ত অনুসরণ করে কারও পতন না হয়।
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and purposes of the heart.
কারণ ঈশ্বরের বাক্য জীবন্ত ও সক্রিয়, উভয় দিকে ধারবিশিষ্ট যে কোনো তরোয়াল থেকে তীক্ষ্ণ; প্রাণ ও আত্মা এবং শরীরের গ্রন্থি ও মজ্জা পর্যন্ত তা ভেদ করে যায়; তা হৃদয়ের চিন্তা ও আচরণের বিচার করে।
13 And there is no creature concealed from his sight, for all things are naked and open to the eyes of him, to whom we must give an account.
সমস্ত সৃষ্টিতে সবকিছুই যাঁর দৃষ্টিতে অনাবৃত ও উন্মুক্ত, তাঁর কাছে আমাদের অবশ্যই জবাবদিহি করতে হবে।
14 Now, having a great High Priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
অতএব, আমরা এমন এক মহান মহাযাজককে পেয়েছি, যিনি আকাশমণ্ডল অতিক্রম করে উন্নীত হয়েছেন, তিনি ঈশ্বরের পুত্র যীশু; তাই এসো, আমরা যে বিশ্বাস স্বীকার করি, তা দৃঢ়রূপে আঁকড়ে ধরে থাকি।
15 For we have not a High Priest who can not sympathize with our weaknesses; but one who was tried in all points, according to the likeness of his nature to our ours, without sin.
কারণ আমাদের মহাযাজক এমন নন, যিনি আমাদের দুর্বলতায় সহানুভূতি দেখাতে অক্ষম; বরং আমরা এমন একজনকে পেয়েছি, যিনি আমাদেরই মতো সব বিষয়ে প্রলোভিত হয়েছিলেন, অথচ নিষ্পাপ থেকেছেন।
16 Let us, therefore, approach, with boldness, to the throne of favor, that we may receive mercy, and obtain favor for the purpose of seasonable help.
তাই এসো, আস্থার সঙ্গে আমরা তাঁর অনুগ্রহ-সিংহাসনের সামনে উপস্থিত হই, যেন আমরা করুণা লাভ করতে পারি ও আমাদের প্রয়োজনের সময়ে অনুগ্রহ পাই।
