Hebrews 11
1 Now, faith is the confidence of things hoped for, and the conviction of things not seen.
और विश्वास उन तत्वों का निश्चय है, हमने जिनकी आशा की है, तथा उन तत्वों का प्रमाण है, जिन्हें हमने देखा नहीं है.
2 By this, the ancients obtained reputation.
इसी के द्वारा प्राचीनों ने परमेश्वर की प्रशंसा प्राप्त की.
3 By faith, we understand that the worlds were formed by the word of God; so that the things which were seen, were not made of things which do appear. (aiōn g165)
यह विश्वास ही है, जिसके द्वारा हमने यह जाना है कि परमेश्वर की आज्ञा मात्र से सारी सृष्टि अस्तित्व में आ गई. वह सब, जो दिखता है उसकी उत्पत्ति देखी हुई वस्तुओं से नहीं हुई. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, on account of which he was commended as righteous; God testifying in favor of his oblations: and so, by it, though dead he still speaks.
यह विश्वास ही था, जिसके द्वारा हाबिल ने परमेश्वर को काइन की तुलना में बेहतर बलि भेंट की, जिसके कारण स्वयं परमेश्वर ने प्रशंसा के साथ हाबिल को धर्मी घोषित किया. परमेश्वर ने हाबिल की भेंट की प्रशंसा की. यद्यपि उनकी मृत्यु हो चुकी है, उनका यही विश्वास आज भी हमारे लिए गवाही है.
5 By faith Enoch was translated, that he might not see death, and was not found, because God had translated him; for, before his translation, it was testified that he pleased God.
यह विश्वास ही था कि हनोख उठा लिए गए कि वह मृत्यु का अनुभव न करें: “उन्हें फिर देखा न गया, स्वयं परमेश्वर ने ही उन्हें अपने साथ ले लिया था.” उन्हें उठाए जाने के पहले उनकी प्रशंसा की गई थी कि उन्होंने परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न किया था.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he who comes to God, must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them who diligently seek him.
विश्वास की कमी में परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करना असंभव है क्योंकि परमेश्वर के पास आनेवाले व्यक्ति के लिए यह ज़रूरी है कि वह यह विश्वास करे कि परमेश्वर हैं और यह भी कि वह उन्हें प्रतिफल देते हैं, जो उनकी खोज करते हैं.
7 By faith, Noah, when he received a revelation concerning things not yet seen, being seized with religious fear, prepared an ark for the salvation of his family; by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
यह विश्वास ही था कि अब तक अनदेखी वस्तुओं के विषय में नोहा को परमेश्वर से चेतावनी प्राप्त हुई और नोहा ने अत्यंत भक्ति में अपने परिवार की सुरक्षा के लिए एक विशाल जलयान का निर्माण किया तथा विश्वास के द्वारा संसार को धिक्कारा और मीरास में उस धार्मिकता को प्राप्त किया, जो विश्वास से प्राप्त होती है.
8 By faith, Abraham, when called to go out into a place which he should afterward receive as an inheritance, obeyed, and went out, not knowing whither he was going.
यह विश्वास ही था, जिसके द्वारा अब्राहाम ने परमेश्वर के बुलाने पर घर-परिवार का त्याग कर एक अन्य देश को चले जाने के लिए उनकी आज्ञा का पालन किया—वह देश, जो परमेश्वर उन्हें मीरास में देने पर थे. वह यह जाने बिना ही चल पड़े कि वह कहां जा रहे थे.
9 By faith, he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint heirs of the same promise:
वह विश्वास के द्वारा ही उस प्रतिज्ञा किए हुए देश में वैसे रहे, जैसे विदेश में एक अजनबी रहता है. विदेश में एक अजनबी की तरह उन्होंने यित्सहाक और याकोब के साथ तंबुओं में निवास किया, जो उसी प्रतिज्ञा के साथ वारिस थे.
10 for he expected the city having foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
उनकी दृष्टि उस स्थायी नगर की ओर थी, जिसके रचनेवाले और बनानेवाले परमेश्वर हैं.
11 By faith, also, Sarah herself received strength for the conception of seed, and brought forth, when past the time of life; because she judged him faithful who had promised.
यह विश्वास ही था कि साराह ने भी गर्भधारण की क्षमता प्राप्त की हालांकि उनकी अवस्था इस योग्य नहीं रह गई थी. उन्होंने विश्वास किया कि परमेश्वर, जिन्होंने इसकी प्रतिज्ञा की थी, विश्वासयोग्य हैं.
12 And, therefore, there sprang from one who was dead, in this respect, a race, as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is on the sea-shore, innumerable.
इस कारण उस व्यक्ति के द्वारा, जो मरे हुए से थे, इतने वंशज पैदा हुए, जितने आकाश में तारे तथा समुद्र के किनारे पर रेत के कण हैं.
13 All these died in faith, not having received the promises. For, seeing the things promised, afar off, and embracing them, they confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims in the land.
विश्वास की स्थिति में ही इन सब की मृत्यु हुई, यद्यपि उन्हें प्रतिज्ञा की हुई वस्तुएं प्राप्त नहीं हुई थी, परंतु उन्होंने उन तत्वों को दूर से पहचानकर इस अहसास के साथ उनका स्वागत किया कि वे स्वयं पृथ्वी पर परदेशी और बाहरी हैं.
14 Now they who speak such things, plainly declare that they earnestly seek a country.
इस प्रकार के भावों को प्रकट करने के द्वारा वे यह साफ़ कर देते हैं कि वे अपने ही देश की खोज में हैं.
15 For truly, if they had remembered that from which they came out, they might have had an opportunity to return it.
वस्तुतः यदि वे उस देश को याद कर रहे थे, जिससे वे निकल आए थे, तब उनके सामने वहां लौट जाने का सुअवसर भी होता
16 But, indeed, they strongly desired a better country; that is, a heavenly. Therefore, God is not ashamed of them--to be called their God; because he has prepared for them a city.
किंतु सच्चाई यह है कि उन्हें एक बेहतर देश की इच्छा थी, जो स्वर्गीय है. इसलिये उन लोगों द्वारा परमेश्वर कहलाए जाने में परमेश्वर को किसी प्रकार की लज्जा नहीं है क्योंकि परमेश्वर ही ने उनके लिए एक नगर का निर्माण किया है.
17 By faith, Abraham, when tried, offered up Isaac; he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten,
यह विश्वास ही था कि अब्राहाम ने, जब उन्हें परखा गया, यित्सहाक को बलि के लिए भेंट कर दिया. जिन्होंने प्रतिज्ञाओं को प्राप्त किया था, वह अपने एकलौते पुत्र को भेंट कर रहे थे,
18 concerning whom it was said, that "In Isaac shall thy seed be called";
यह वही थे, जिनसे कहा गया था, “तुम्हारे वंशज यित्सहाक के माध्यम से नामित होंगे.”
19 reasoning that God was able to raise him even from the dead; from whence, indeed, he received him in a figure.
अब्राहाम यह समझ चुके थे कि परमेश्वर में मरे हुओं को जीवित करने का सामर्थ्य है. एक प्रकार से उन्होंने भी यित्सहाक को मरे हुओं में से जीवित प्राप्त किया.
20 By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, with respect to things to come.
यह विश्वास ही था कि यित्सहाक ने याकोब तथा एसाव को उनके आनेवाले जीवन के लिए आशीर्वाद दिया.
21 By faith, Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, bowing on the top of his staff.
यह विश्वास ही था कि याकोब ने अपने मरते समय योसेफ़ के दोनों पुत्रों को अपनी लाठी का सहारा ले आशीर्वाद दिया और आराधना की.
22 By faith, Joseph, when dying, made mention concerning the departing of the children of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones.
यह विश्वास ही था कि योसेफ़ ने अपनी मृत्यु के समय इस्राएलियों के निर्गमन जाने का वर्णन किया तथा अपनी अस्थियों के विषय में आज्ञा दीं.
23 By faith, Moses, when born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and were not afraid of the king's commandment.
यह विश्वास ही था कि जब मोशेह का जन्म हुआ, उनके माता-पिता ने उन्हें तीन माह तक छिपाए रखा. उन्होंने देखा कि शिशु सुंदर है इसलिये वे राज आज्ञा से भयभीत न हुए.
24 By faith, Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
यह विश्वास ही था कि मोशेह ने बड़े होने पर फ़रोह की पुत्री की संतान कहलाना अस्वीकार कर दिया.
25 choosing rather to suffer evil with the people of God, than to have the temporary fruition of sin,
और पाप के क्षण-भर के सुखों के आनंद की बजाय परमेश्वर की प्रजा के साथ दुःख सहना सही समझा.
26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked forward to the retribution.
उनकी दृष्टि में मसीह के लिए सही गई निंदा मिस्र देश के भंडारों से कहीं अधिक कीमती थी क्योंकि उनकी आंखें उस ईनाम पर स्थिर थी.
27 By faith, he left Egypt, not being afraid of the wrath of the king. For he courageously persevered, as perceiving the invisible God.
यह विश्वास ही था कि मोशेह मिस्र देश को छोड़कर चले गए. उन्हें फ़रोह के क्रोध का कोई भय न था. वह आगे ही बढ़ते चले गए मानो वह उन्हें देख रहे थे, जो अनदेखे हैं.
28 By faith, he appointed the passover, and the sprinkling of the blood; that he who destroyed the first-born, might not touch them.
यह विश्वास ही था कि मोशेह ने इस्राएलियों को फ़सह उत्सव मनाने तथा बलि-लहू छिड़कने की आज्ञा दी कि वह, जो पहलौठे पुत्रों का नाश कर रहा था, उनमें से किसी को स्पर्श न करे.
29 By faith, they passed through the Red Sea, as by dry land, which the Egyptians attempting to do, were drowned.
यह विश्वास ही था कि उन्होंने लाल सागर ऐसे पार कर लिया, मानो वे सूखी भूमि पर चल रहे हों किंतु जब मिस्रवासियों ने वही करना चाहा तो डूब मरे.
30 By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down, having been encompassed seven days.
यह विश्वास ही था जिसके द्वारा येरीख़ो नगर की दीवार उनके सात दिन तक परिक्रमा करने पर गिर पड़ी.
31 By faith, Rahab, the harlot, was not destroyed with the unbelievers, having received the spies in peace.
यह विश्वास ही था कि नगरवधू राहाब ने गुप्तचरों का स्वागत मैत्री भाव में किया तथा आज्ञा न माननेवालों के साथ नाश नहीं हुई.
32 And what shall I say more? for the time would fail me, to speak of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jepthah, and David, also, and Samuel, and the prophets--
मैं और क्या कहूं? समय की कमी मुझे आज्ञा नहीं देती कि मैं गिदौन, बाराक, शिमशोन, यिफ्ताह, दावीद, शमुएल तथा भविष्यद्वक्ताओं का वर्णन करूं,
33 who, through faith, subdued kingdom, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
जो विश्वास से राज्यों पर विजयी हुए, जिन्होंने धार्मिकता में राज्य किया, जिन्हें प्रतिज्ञाओं का फल प्राप्त हुआ, जिन्होंने सिंहों के मुंह बांध दिए,
34 quenched the strength of fire, escaped the edges of the sword, grew strong from sickness, became valiant in battle, overturned the camps of the aliens.
आग की लपटों को ठंडा कर दिया, तलवार की धार से बच निकले; जिन्हें निर्बल से बलवंत बना दिया गया; युद्ध में वीर साबित हुए; जिन्होंने विदेशी सेनाओं को खदेड़ दिया.
35 Women received their dead by a resurrection, and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
दोबारा जी उठने के द्वारा स्त्रियों को उनके मृतक दोबारा जीवित प्राप्त हो गए. कुछ अन्य थे, जिन्हें ताड़नाएं दी गईं और उन्होंने छुटकारा अस्वीकार कर दिया कि वे बेहतर पुनरुत्थान प्राप्त कर सकें.
36 And others had trial of mockings and scourgings; and, moreover of bonds and imprisonment.
कुछ अन्य थे, जिनकी परख उपहास, कोड़ों, बेड़ियों में जकड़े जाने और बंदीगृह में डाले जाने के द्वारा हुई.
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they died by the slaughter of the sword, they went about in sheep skins, and in goat skins, being destitute, afflicted, maltreated;
उनका पथराव किया गया, उन्हें चीर डाला गया, लालच दिया गया, तलवार से उनका वध किया गया, भेड़ों व बकरियों की खाल में मढ़ दिया गया, वे अभाव की स्थिति में थे, उन्हें यातनाएं दी गईं तथा उनसे दुर्व्यवहार किया गया.
38 of these the world was not worthy: they wandered in deserts, and mountains, and in caves, and holes of the earth.
उनके लिए संसार सही स्थान साबित न हुआ. वे बंजर भूमि में, पर्वतों पर, गुफाओं में तथा भूमि के गड्ढों में भटकते-छिपते रहे.
39 Now, all these, though commanded on account of faith, did not receive the promise,
ये सभी गवाहों ने अपने विश्वास के द्वारा परमेश्वर का अनुग्रह प्राप्त किया, किंतु इन्होंने वह प्राप्त नहीं किया जिसकी इनसे प्रतिज्ञा की गई थी;
40 God having provided something better for us, that they, without us, should not be made perfect.
क्योंकि उनके लिए परमेश्वर के द्वारा कुछ बेहतर ही निर्धारित था कि हमारे साथ जुड़े बिना उन्हें सिद्धता प्राप्त न हो.
