Acts 28
1 And being got safe to land, they then knew that the island was called Melita.
രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, അതു മാൾട്ടാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു ദ്വീപാണെന്ന് ഞങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കി.
2 And the barbarians treated us with uncommon humanity; for having kindled a fire, they brought us all to it, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
ദ്വീപുനിവാസികൾ ഞങ്ങളോട് അസാധാരണമായ കനിവു കാണിച്ചു. മഴയും തണുപ്പും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ തീകൂട്ടി ഞങ്ങളെ എല്ലാവരെയും സ്വാഗതംചെയ്തു.
3 Now, as Paul was gathering up a bundle of sticks, and laying them on the fire, a viper coming out of the heat, fastened upon his hand.
പൗലോസ് ഒരുകെട്ട് ചുള്ളിക്കമ്പുകൾ ശേഖരിച്ചു തീയിലേക്കിടുമ്പോൾ ഒരണലി ചൂടുകൊണ്ടു പുറത്തുചാടി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ചുറ്റി.
4 And as soon as the barbarians saw the fierce animal hanging on his hand, they said one to another, This man is certainly a murderer, whom justice has not permitted to live, though he be saved from the sea.
ഇങ്ങനെ പൗലോസിന്റെ കൈയിൽ പാമ്പു തൂങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട് ദ്വീപുനിവാസികൾ, “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ തീർച്ചയായും ഒരു കൊലപാതകിയാണ്; കടലിൽനിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും നീതിദേവി ഇയാളെ ജീവിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്നില്ലല്ലോ!” എന്നു തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.
5 But he, shaking off the fierce animal into the fire, suffered no evil.
എന്നാൽ, പൗലോസ് ആ പാമ്പിനെ തീയിലേക്കു കുടഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു; ദോഷമൊന്നും സംഭവിച്ചില്ല.
6 However, they expected that he should have swollen, or suddenly have fallen down dead: and having waited a considerable time, and seeing no mischief befall him, changing their minds, they said he was a god.
അദ്ദേഹം നീരുവെച്ചു വീങ്ങുകയോ ഉടൻതന്നെ മരിച്ചുവീഴുകയോ ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ജനങ്ങൾ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ, ഏറെനേരം കാത്തിരുന്നിട്ടും അനർഥമൊന്നും സംഭവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നുകണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ മനസ്സുമാറ്റി, അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു ദേവൻതന്നെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7 And in the neighborhood of that place, there was the estate of the chief of the island, whose name was Publius; who, having received us into his house, entertained us in a courteous manner for three days.
ദ്വീപുപ്രമാണിയായിരുന്ന പുബ്ലിയൊസിന് അവിടെയടുത്ത് കുറെ സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു മൂന്നുദിവസം ആദരവോടെ സൽക്കരിച്ചു.
8 And so it was, that the father of Publius, being seized with a fever and bloody flux, was confined to his bed: to whom Paul going in, and having prayed, laid his hands on him, and healed him.
അയാളുടെ പിതാവ് പനിയും അതിസാരവും പിടിപെട്ടു കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പൗലോസ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കാണാൻ അകത്തേക്കു ചെന്നു; പ്രാർഥിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ കൈവെച്ചു സൗഖ്യമാക്കി.
9 Now, therefore, when this miracle was wrought, the rest also, who had disorders, in the island, came, and were healed.
ഈ സംഭവത്തെത്തുടർന്നു ദ്വീപിലെ മറ്റു രോഗികളും വന്നു സൗഖ്യംപ്രാപിച്ചു.
10 Who also honored us with great honors; and when we departed, put on board such things as were necessary.
അവർ പല സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ നൽകി ഞങ്ങളെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചു. യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ, ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ആവശ്യമായിരുന്നതെല്ലാം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു തന്നു.
11 And after three months, we departed in a ship of Alexandria, that had wintered in the island, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
മൂന്നുമാസത്തിനുശേഷം, ആ ദ്വീപിൽ ശീതകാലം കഴിയുന്നതുവരെ നങ്കൂരമടിച്ചു കിടന്നിരുന്ന അശ്വനിചിഹ്നമുള്ള ഒരു അലെക്സന്ത്രിയൻ കപ്പലിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ കയറി യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു.
12 And being arrived at Syracuse, we continued there three days.
ഞങ്ങൾ സുറക്കൂസയിലെത്തി മൂന്നുദിവസം അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.
13 From thence we coasted round, and came over against Rhegium. And after one day the south wind arising, we came, in two days, to Puteoli:
അവിടെനിന്നു യാത്രതിരിച്ച് രെഗ്യമിൽ എത്തി. പിറ്റേന്ന് തെക്കൻകാറ്റു വീശിയതിനാൽ അതിന്റെ അടുത്തദിവസം ഞങ്ങൾ പുത്തെയൊലിയിൽ എത്തി.
14 where we found brethren, and were entreated to stay with them seven days: and so we went for Rome.
അവിടെ ഏതാനും സഹോദരങ്ങളെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി. അവർ ഞങ്ങളെ ഒരാഴ്ചത്തേക്ക് അവരോടുകൂടെ താമസിക്കാൻ ക്ഷണിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം ഞങ്ങൾ റോമിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി.
15 And from thence, the brethren, having heard of our affairs, came out to meet us, as far as Apii Forum, and the Three Taverns: whom, when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
അവിടെയുള്ള സഹോദരങ്ങൾ, ഞങ്ങൾ വരുന്നെന്നു കേട്ടിരുന്നു; അവർ ഞങ്ങളെ സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ അപ്യപുരവും ത്രിമണ്ഡപവുംവരെ വന്നു. അവരെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ പൗലോസ് ദൈവത്തിനു സ്തോത്രംചെയ്ത് ധൈര്യംപൂണ്ടു.
16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the band: but Paul was permitted to dwell apart, in a house of his own, with a soldier that guarded him.
ഞങ്ങൾ റോമിലെത്തിയശേഷം പൗലോസിന്, പടയാളികളുടെ കാവലിൽ വേറിട്ടു താമസിക്കാൻ അനുവാദം കിട്ടി.
17 And it came to pass, that, after three days, Paul called together those that were the chief of the Jews. And when they were come together, he said to them, Brethren, though I have done nothing contrary to the people, nor to our paternal customs, yet I was delivered a prisoner, from Jerusalem, into the hands of the Romans;
മൂന്നുദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെയുള്ള യെഹൂദനേതാക്കളെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി. അവർ വന്നുകൂടിയപ്പോൾ പൗലോസ് അവരോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു: “എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാൻ നമ്മുടെ ജനങ്ങൾക്കോ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആചാരങ്ങൾക്കോ എതിരായി ഒന്നും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. എങ്കിലും ജെറുശലേമിൽവെച്ച് എന്നെ തടവുകാരനാക്കി റോമാക്കാരുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു.
18 who, having examined me, were willing to have set me at liberty, as there was no cause of death in me.
മരണശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് അർഹമായ കുറ്റകൃത്യമൊന്നും ഞാൻ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ എന്നെ വിചാരണചെയ്തശേഷം സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വിടാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
19 But when the Jews opposed, I was obliged to appeal to Cesar; not as having anything of which to accuse my own nation.
എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദർ എതിർത്തപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കൈസറുടെമുമ്പാകെ മേൽവിചാരണയ്ക് അപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ നിർബന്ധിതനായി. സ്വജനങ്ങൾക്കെതിരേ എന്തെങ്കിലും പരാതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടല്ല അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തത്.
20 For this reason, therefore, I entreated, that I might see and speak with you; for on account of the hope of Israel, I am bound with this chain.
നിങ്ങളെ സന്ദർശിക്കണമെന്നും നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കണമെന്നും ഞാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത് ഇതു വ്യക്തമാക്കാനാണ്. ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശനിമിത്തമാണ് ഞാൻ ഈ ചങ്ങലയാൽ ബന്ധിതനായിരിക്കുന്നത്.”
21 And they said to him, We have neither received letters from Judea concerning you; nor have any of the brethren, that have come hither, related, or said, any evil concerning you.
“താങ്കളെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഞങ്ങൾക്കു യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്ന് കത്തുകളൊന്നും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; അവിടെനിന്നു വന്ന സഹോദരങ്ങളിലാരും താങ്കളെപ്പറ്റി ദോഷമായ വിവരങ്ങൾ അറിയിക്കുകയോ സംസാരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടുമില്ല.
22 But we desire to hear from you, what you think; for as concerning this sect, we know that it everywhere spoken against.
എന്നാൽ, എല്ലായിടത്തുമുള്ള ജനങ്ങൾ ഈ മതവിഭാഗത്തെ എതിർത്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതായി അറിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്, താങ്കളുടെ അഭിപ്രായം കേൾക്കാൻ ഞങ്ങളാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.” അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
23 And having appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he expounded, testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them of the things that relate to Jesus; both from the law of Moses and the prophets, from morning till evening.
അവർ ഒരു ദിവസം നിശ്ചയിച്ചു; അന്നു നിരവധി ആളുകൾ അദ്ദേഹം താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു വന്നെത്തി. രാവിലെമുതൽ സന്ധ്യവരെ അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെപ്പറ്റി വിശദീകരിച്ചു പ്രസംഗിക്കുകയും മോശയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽനിന്നും പ്രവാചകപുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും യേശുവിനെപ്പറ്റി അവരെ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്താൻ ശ്രമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
24 And some were persuaded by the things which were spoken; and some believed not.
അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞതു ചിലർക്കു ബോധ്യപ്പെട്ടു; മറ്റുചിലർ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.
25 And disagreeing with each other, they broke up the assembly: Paul saying this one word, Surely, well did the Holy Spirit speak, by Isaiah the prophet, to our fathers,
അവർതമ്മിൽ യോജിപ്പിലെത്താതെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകാൻ തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ പൗലോസ് ഇങ്ങനെയൊരു പ്രസ്താവന നടത്തി:
26 when he said, "Go to this people and say, Hearing you will hear, and will not understand; and seeing you will see, and will not perceive:
“‘ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുത്തുചെന്ന് അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടത്: “നിങ്ങൾ എപ്പോഴും കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും, എന്നാൽ ഒരിക്കലും ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയില്ല; നിങ്ങൾ എപ്പോഴും കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും, എന്നാൽ ഒരിക്കലും മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയില്ല.”
27 for the heart of this people is become gross, and with their ears they hear heavily; and they have drawn their eyes together, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."
ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം തഴമ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ചെവികൊണ്ടു കേൾക്കുന്നതേയില്ല. അവർ കണ്ണുകൾ അടച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയല്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകൾകൊണ്ടു കാണുകയും ചെവികൾകൊണ്ടു കേൾക്കുകയും ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ട് അവർ മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുകയും ഞാൻ അവരെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു,’ എന്നു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകനിലൂടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ളത് സത്യംതന്നെ.
28 Therefore be it known to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it.
“അതുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവം അവിടത്തെ രക്ഷ യെഹൂദേതരർക്ക് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, അവർ അത് അംഗീകരിക്കും എന്നു നിങ്ങളറിയണമെന്നു ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.”
29 And when he had said these things, the Jews departed, having great debates among themselves.
പൗലോസ് രണ്ടുവർഷംമുഴുവൻ താൻ വാടകയ്ക്കെടുത്ത വീട്ടിൽ താമസിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, തന്നെ കാണാൻവന്ന എല്ലാവരെയും സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
30 But Paul continued two whole years in his own hired house, and received all who came to him;
അദ്ദേഹം ധൈര്യസമേതം, നിർവിഘ്നം ദൈവരാജ്യം പ്രസംഗിച്ചും കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെപ്പറ്റി പഠിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുമിരുന്നു.
31 announcing the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which relate to the Lord Jesus Christ, with all freedom of speech, and without any restraint.
