1 Thessalonians 5
1 However, concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you:
ⲁ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲭⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲕⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲛⲏ ⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ.
2 for yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.
ⲃ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲕⲣⲓⲃⲱⲥ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲡ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲉϥϭⲓⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲣϩ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲡⲉⲧⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
3 When they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
ⲅ̅ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲁⲩϣⲁⲛϫⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲧϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ⲡⲧⲁϫⲣⲟ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲉⲝⲁⲡⲓⲛⲁ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛϯⲛⲁⲕϩⲓ ⳿ⲉϣⲁⲥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲑⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲃⲟⲕⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩ⳿ϣⲫⲱⲧ.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should come upon you like a thief.
ⲇ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲭⲁⲕⲓ ⲁⲛ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲧⲁϩⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲣⲉϥϭⲓⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ.
5 You are all sons of light, and sons of day: we are not sons of night, nor of darkness.
ⲉ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛϣⲏ ⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲁ ⲛⲁ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲣϩ ⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛⲁ ⳿ⲡⲭⲁⲕⲓ ⲁⲛ.
6 Therefore, let us not sleep, even as others; but let us watch and be sober.
ⲋ̅ϩⲁⲣⲁ ⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲉⲛⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲕⲉⲥⲉⲡⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲛⲣⲱⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲛⲓⲙⲫⲓⲛ.
7 For they who sleep, sleep in the night; and they who get drunk, get drunk in the night.
ⲍ̅ⲛⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ⲁⲩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲣϩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲑⲁϧⲓ ⲁⲩⲑⲁϧⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲣϩ.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
ⲏ̅⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛⲁ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲛⲉⲣⲛⲓⲙⲫⲓⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛϯ ϩⲓⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛϯϧⲉⲗⲓⲃϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲡⲉⲣⲓⲕⲉⲫⲁⲗⲉⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ.
9 For God has appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation, through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we may live together, with him.
ⲑ̅ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲁ ⲫϯ ⲭⲁⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲩϫⲱⲛⲧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲩⲧⲁⲛϧⲟ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
10 Wherefore, comfort one another, and edify each other, even as also you do.
ⲓ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲛ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲓⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲣⲏⲥ ⳿ⲓⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲱⲛϧ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲡ.
11 Wherefore, comfort one another, and edify each other, even as also you do.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⲙⲁⲛⲟⲙϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲕⲉⲧ ⲡⲉϥ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
12 Now, we beseech you, brethren, to acknowledge them who labor among you, and who preside over you in the Lord, and instruct you;
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏⲉⲧϧⲟⲥⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧ ⲭⲏ ϧⲁϫⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡ⳪ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ.
13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their works' sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲭⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲡⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲁⲣⲓϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ.
14 Moreover, we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, be of a long-suffering disposition toward all.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲙⲁ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲧ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲙⲁⲛⲟⲙϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ϣⲱⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϣⲱⲛⲓ ⲱⲟⲩ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
15 Take care that no one return evil for evil to any one, but always pursue what is good, both toward one another and toward all.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧϣⲉⲃⲓⲱ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϭⲟϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ⲡⲓⲡⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
16 Rejoice always.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲣⲁϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
17 Pray without ceasing.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲧⲱⲃϩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲙⲟⲩⲛⲕ.
18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God, by Christ Jesus, concerning you.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ϣⲉⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲟϣⲙⲉϥ.
20 Despise not prophesying.
ⲕ̅ⲛⲓ⳿ⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϣⲟϣϥⲟⲩ.
21 Prove all things. Hold fast that which is good.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲁⲍⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲡⲓⲡⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ϩⲉⲛⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ.
23 And may the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your whole person, the spirit, and the soul, and the body, be preserved unblamable, till the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲡ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϫⲏⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲁⲣⲉϩ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲟϫ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲁⲣⲓⲕⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲡⲁⲣⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
24 Faithful is he who has called you; who also will do it.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅⳿ϥⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲑⲱϩⲉⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ϥⲛⲁ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⲟⲛ.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲧⲱⲃϩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲛ.
26 Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲣⲓⲁⲥⲡⲁⲍⲉⲥⲑⲉ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲫⲓ ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲁⲃ.
27 I solemnly charge you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ϯⲧⲁⲣⲕⲟ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲠ⳪ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲑⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉϣ ⲧⲁⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ.
28 The favor of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅⳿ⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲙⲏⲛ ⳿ⲡⲣⲟⲥ ⲑⲉⲥⲥⲁⲗⲟⲛⲓⲕⲏ ⲁ̅ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲧⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲁⲑⲏⲛⲛⲁⲥ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲟⲣⲡⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲥⲓⲗⲟⲩⲁⲛⲟⲥ
