1 Thessalonians 3
1 Wherefore, no longer concealing our anxiety, we were well pleased to be left at Athens alone,
Por eso, cuando ya no pudimos aguantar más, nos pareció bien quedarnos solos en Atenas,
2 and sent Timothy, our brother, and a minister of God, and our fellow-laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to exhort you concerning your faith:
y enviamos a Timoteo, nuestro hermano y siervo de Dios en la Buena Nueva de Cristo, para que os afirmara y os consolara en cuanto a vuestra fe,
3 that no one should be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that we are appointed to them.
a fin de que nadie se conmoviera por estas aflicciones. Porque sabéis que hemos sido designados para esta tarea.
4 For even when we were with you, we foretold you that we were to be afflicted; which also happened as you know.
Porque ciertamente, cuando estábamos con vosotros, os dijimos de antemano que íbamos a sufrir aflicción, tal como sucedió, y lo sabéis.
5 For this reason also, no longer concealing my anxiety, I sent to know your faith; lest by some means the tempter may have tempted you, and our labor have become in vain.
Por esta razón, yo también, cuando ya no podía soportar más, envié para conocer vuestra fe, por temor a que por cualquier medio el tentador os hubiera tentado, y nuestro trabajo hubiera sido en vano.
6 But now, when Timothy came to us from you, and gave us the good news of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us at all times, ardently desiring to see us, even as we also to see you;
Pero Timoteo acaba de llegar a nosotros de parte de ustedes, y nos ha traído la alegre noticia de su fe y de su amor, y de que tienen siempre un buen recuerdo de nosotros, anhelando vernos, así como nosotros también anhelamos verlos.
7 by this, brethren, we were comforted concerning you in all our affliction and necessity, even by your faith.
Por esta razón, hermanos, fuimos consolados por vosotros en toda nuestra angustia y aflicción por vuestra fe.
8 For now we live, when you stand firm in the Lord.
Porque ahora vivimos, si permanecéis firmes en el Señor.
9 But what thanksgiving can we return to God concerning you, for all the joy with which we rejoice, through you, in the presence of our God?
¿Qué acción de gracias podemos volver a dar a Dios por vosotros, por todo el gozo con que nos alegramos por vosotros delante de nuestro Dios,
10 Night and day, most earnestly requesting to see your face, and to supply the deficiencies of your faith.
orando de noche y de día con exceso para poder ver vuestro rostro y perfeccionar lo que falta a vuestra fe?
11 Now may God himself, even our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, make straight our way to you.
Que nuestro Dios y Padre mismo, y nuestro Señor Jesucristo, dirijan nuestro camino hacia vosotros.
12 And may the Lord fill you, and make you overflow with love to one another, and to all, even as we also to you;
Que el Señor os haga crecer y abundar en el amor entre vosotros y con todos los hombres, como también nosotros lo hacemos con vosotros,
13 that he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness, before God, even our Father, at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, with all his saints.
para que establezca vuestros corazones irreprochables en santidad ante nuestro Dios y Padre en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesús con todos sus santos.
