< 1 John 1 >

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our hands have handled, concerning the living Word--
That which was from the beginning—which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at, and our hands have touched—it is about the Word of life.
2 (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and declare to you that life which is eternal, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us; ) (aiōnios g166)
Also, the life was made known, and we have seen it, and we bear witness to it. We are announcing to you the eternal life, which was with the Father, and which has been made known to us. (aiōnios g166)
3 that which we have seen and heard, we declare to you; that you also may have fellowship with us: and our fellowship truly is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
That which we have seen and heard we declare also to you, so you also will have fellowship with us. Our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 And these things we write to you, that your joy may be complete.
Also, we are writing these things to you so that our joy will be complete.
5 Moreover, this is the message which we have heard from him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
This is the message that we have heard from him and are announcing to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and obey not the truth.
If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light; we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ the Son cleanses us from all sin.
But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from every sin.
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar, and his word is not in us.
