1 Corinthians 11
1 Become imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.
ⲁ̅ⲧⲛⲧⲛ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲛⲧⲱⲛⲧ ⲉⲡⲉⲭⲥ
2 Now I praise you, brethren; because, in all things you remember me, and hold fast the traditions as I delivered them to you.
ⲃ̅ϯⲉⲡⲁⲓⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ϩⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓϯ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲙⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲟⲥⲓⲥ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
ⲅ̅ϯⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲡⲉ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲧⲁⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲥϩⲓ ⲙⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲧⲁⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
4 Every man who prays, or prophesies, having his head covered, dishonors his head.
ⲇ̅ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉϥϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲏ ⲉϥⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉϥⲁⲡⲉ ϩⲟⲃⲥ ϥϯϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲁⲡⲉ
5 And every woman who prays, or prophesies, with her head uncovered, dishonors her head. Besides, it is one and the same, with being shaved.
ⲉ̅ⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲥϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲏ ⲉⲥⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏ ⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲥⲁⲡⲉ ϭⲟⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲥϯϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲥⲁⲡⲉ ⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲉⲓϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉ ϫⲱⲥ ϩⲟⲟⲕⲉ
6 Wherefore, if a woman be not vailed, even let her be shorn: but, if it be shame for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be vailed.
ⲋ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲥⲛⲁϩⲃⲥ ϫⲱⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲥϣⲃ ϫⲱⲥ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲗⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲡⲉ ϣⲃ ϫⲱⲥ ⲏ ϩⲉⲕⲉ ϫⲱⲥ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲥϩⲃⲥ ϫⲱⲥ
7 Now, man, indeed, ought not to cover the head, being the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
ⲍ̅ⲡϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛϣϣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϩⲱⲃⲥ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲁⲡⲉ ⲉⲑⲓⲕⲱⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ
8 Besides the man is not of the woman; but the woman is of the man.
ⲏ̅ⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲓ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲓ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ
9 And, also, the man was not created for the woman, but the woman for the man.
ⲑ̅ⲕⲁⲓⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲛⲧ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ
10 For this reason, ought the woman to have a vail on her head, on account of the messengers.
ⲓ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ϣϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲕⲱ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉϫⲛ ⲧⲉⲥⲁⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ
11 However, neither is the man, without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲁϫⲛ ϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲛⲟⲩⲉϣ ⲛⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
12 Besides, as the woman is from the man, so also, the man is by the woman; but all from God.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲛⲑⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲙⲡϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲉⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲇⲉ ϩⲉⲛⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲉ
13 Judge in yourselves, is it decent that a woman pray to God unvailed?
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲛϩⲏ ⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϣϣⲉ ⲉⲩⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲉϫⲱⲥ ϭⲟⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if, indeed, a man have long hair, it is a disgrace to him?
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲉⲓⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲉⲓⲕⲉⲫⲩⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲧⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲉϩ ϥⲱ ⲟⲩⲥⲱϣ ⲛⲁϥ ⲡⲉ
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given to her for a vail.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲥϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲉϩ ϥⲱ ⲟⲩⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲥ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡϥⲱ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲥ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲛⲟⲩⲣϣⲱⲛ
16 However, if any one resolve to be contentious, we have no such custom; neither the congregations of God.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲙⲁⲓ ϯⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲁⲛ ⲥⲩⲛⲓⲑⲓⲁ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
17 Now, in declaring this, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse, I do not praise you.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ϯⲡⲁⲣⲁⲅⲅⲉⲓⲗⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲓⲉⲡⲁⲓⲛⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲩϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲩϩⲃⲃⲉ
18 For, first, indeed, I hear, that when you come together in the congregation, there are schisms among you; and I partly believe it.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϯⲥⲱⲧⲙ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲡⲱⲣϫ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲣⲟⲥ
19 For there must even be sects among you, that the approved among you may be made manifest.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲣⲉ ϩⲉⲛϩⲁⲓⲣⲉⲥⲓⲥ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲕⲉⲥⲱⲧⲡ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
20 But your coming together into one place, is not to eat the Lord's supper.
ⲕ̅ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ϭⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲩⲣⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲇⲓⲡⲛⲟⲛ ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲙϥ
21 For, in eating it, every one takes first his own supper; and one, indeed, is hungry, and another is filled.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲇⲓⲡⲛⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲉⲛ ϩⲕⲁⲉⲓⲧ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲁϩⲉ
22 What! have you not houses, to eat and to drink in? or, do you despise the congregation of God and put to shame those who have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this, I praise you not.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲙⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲙⲛⲧⲏⲧⲛ ⲏ ⲉⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲥⲱ ϫⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲧⲁⲫⲣⲟⲛⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϯϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲙⲛⲧⲁⲩ ⲧⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲧⲁⲉⲡⲁⲓⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛϯⲉⲡⲁⲓⲛⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ
23 For I received from the Lord what, also, I delivered to you; that the Lord Jesus, in the night in which we was betrayed, took a loaf;
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲓϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲕ
24 and, having given thanks, he broke it; and said, Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you: do this in remembrance of me.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁϥⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁϥⲡⲟϣϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁϥ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲁⲣⲓ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ
25 In like manner, also, the cup, after he had supped; saying, This cup is the new institution in my blood: do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲧⲣⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲡⲉ ⲧⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲛⲃⲣⲣⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲁⲣⲓ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲡⲥ ⲛⲥⲟⲡ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲥⲱ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ
26 For as often as you eat this loaf, and drink this cup, you openly publish the death of the Lord, until he come.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲥⲟⲡ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱ ⲙⲡⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲙⲡⲙⲟⲩ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϣⲁⲛⲧϥⲉⲓ
27 So, then, whosoever shall eat this loaf, and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲛϥⲥⲱ ⲙⲡⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛϥⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ ϥⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲟⲭⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
28 But let a man examine himself, and then let him eat of the loaf, and drink of the cup.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲙⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲁⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲟⲉⲓⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϥⲥⲱ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲡⲟⲧ
29 For he who eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not distinguishing the body of the Lord.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲥⲱ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲥⲱ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲣⲓⲙⲁ ⲉⲛϥⲇⲓⲁⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ
30 For this cause, many among you are weak and sick, and a considerable number are fallen asleep.
ⲗ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲁϩ ϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲉⲗⲉϫⲗⲱϫ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ
31 But if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲙⲟⲩϣⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲁⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ
32 Yet, when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected, that we may not be condemned with the world.
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲩⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲩϯ ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲧϭⲁⲉⲓⲟⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for each other.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ
34 And if any one hunger, let him eat at home, that you may not come together for judgment. And the other things I will set in order when I come.
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲉⲧϩⲕⲁⲉⲓⲧ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲏⲉⲓ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲩⲕⲣⲓⲙⲁ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲉϣ ⲡⲕⲉⲥⲉⲉⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲉⲓϣⲁⲛⲉⲓ
