< Ruth 1 >
1 And it comes to pass, in [the] days [when] the ones judging judge, that there is a famine in the land, and there goes a man from Beth-Lehem-Judah to sojourn in the fields of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
Alò li te vin rive nan jou ke jij yo te gouvène yo, te genyen yon gwo grangou nan peyi a. Yon sèten mesye ki sòti Bethléem nan Juda te ale pou demere nan peyi Moab la avèk madanm li ak de fis li yo.
2 And the name of the man [is] Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephraimites from Beth-Lehem-Judah; and they come into the fields of Moab, and are there.
Mesye a te rele Élimélec e madanm li, Naomi. Epi non a de fis li yo se te Machlon avèk Kiljon, Efratyen yo, de Bethléhem nan Juda. Alò, yo te antre nan peyi Moab la pou te demere la.
3 And Elimelech husband of Naomi dies, and she is left, she and her two sons;
Epi Élimélec, mari a Naomi an te mouri. Konsa, se li ki te rete avèk de fis li yo.
4 and they take to them wives, Moabitesses: the name of the first [is] Orpah, and the name of the second Ruth; and they dwell there about ten years.
De fis yo te pran pou kont yo fanm Moabit yo kon madanm yo. Youn nan yo te rele Orpa e lòt la Ruth. Epi yo te viv la pandan anviwon dis ane.
5 And they die also, both of them—Mahlon and Chilion—and the woman is left of her two children and of her husband.
Alò Machlon avèk Kiljon te vin mouri osi. Konsa, fanm nan vin pèdi de pitit li yo, ansanm ak mari li.
6 And she rises, she and her daughters-in-law, and turns back from the fields of Moab, for she has heard in the fields of Moab that God has looked after His people—to give to them bread.
Konsa li te leve avèk bèlfi li pou l ta kab retounen kite Moab. Paske, depi lè li Moab, li tande ke SENYÈ a te vizite pèp li a nan bay yo manje.
7 And she goes out from the place where she has been, and her two daughters-in-law with her, and they go in the way to return to the land of Judah.
Konsa, li te pati kote li te ye, de bèlfi li yo te avèk li. Epi yo te fè wout la pou retounen nan peyi Juda.
8 And Naomi says to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return, each to the house of her mother; YHWH does with you kindness as you have done with the dead, and with me;
Epi Naomi te di a de bèlfi li yo: “Ale, retounen nou chak lakay manman nou. Ke SENYÈ a kapab aji anvè nou avèk dousè, jan nou te aji avèk sila ki mouri yo e avèk mwen menm tou.
9 YHWH grants to you, and you find rest each in the house of her husband”; and she kisses them, and they lift up their voice and weep.
Ke SENYÈ a kapab pèmèt nou jwenn repo, nou chak lakay a pwòp mari pa li.” Alò, li te bo yo, yo te leve vwa yo wo, epi te kriye.
10 And they say to her, “Surely with you we go back to your people.”
Epi yo te di li: “Non, men n ap retounen avè w vè pèp ou a.”
11 And Naomi says, “Turn back, my daughters; why do you go with me? Are there yet to me sons in my bowels that they have been to you for husbands?
Naomi te di yo: “Retounen fi mwen yo. Poukisa nou ta dwe ale avè m? Èske m toujou gen fis nan vant mwen pou yo ta vin mari nou?
12 Turn back, my daughters, go, for I am too aged to be to a husband; though I had said, There is for me hope, also, I have been tonight to a husband, and also I have borne sons:
Retounen fi mwen yo, paske mwen twò vye pou m gen yon mari. Si m te di nou ke m gen espwa, si m ta menm gen yon mari aswè a pou fè fis,
13 do you wait for them until they grow up? Do you shut yourselves up for them, not to be to a husband? No, my daughters, for more bitter to me than to you, for the hand of YHWH has gone out against me.”
Èske konsa nou ta tann jiskaske yo ta grandi? Èske pou sa, nou ta refize marye? Non fi mwen yo, sa fè m trist pou ka nou yo. Paske, men SENYÈ a gen tan parèt kont mwen.”
14 And they lift up their voice, and weep again, and Orpah kisses her mother-in-law, and Ruth has cleaved to her.
Epi yo te leve vwa yo wo e te kriye ankò. Orpa te bo bèlmè li, men Ruth te rete sou li.
15 And she says, “Behold, your sister-in-law has turned back to her people, and to her god, turn back after your sister-in-law.”
Li te di: “Veye byen, bèlsè ou te retounen vè pèp li avèk dye li yo. Ale swiv bèlsè ou.”
16 And Ruth says, “Do not urge me to leave you—to turn back from after you; for to where you go I go, and where you lodge I lodge; your people [is] my people, and your God my God.
Men Ruth te di: “Pa pouse m kite ou ni pou m ta fè bak nan swiv ou. Paske kote ou ale mwen va ale, e kote ou viv, se la mwen va viv. Pèp ou, pèp pa m, e Dye pa ou, Dye pa m.
17 Where you die I die, and there I am buried; thus does YHWH to me, and thus He adds—for death itself parts between me and you.”
Kote ou mouri mwen va mouri; epi la mwen va antere. Se konsa pou SENYÈ a fè m, ak pi mal, si anyen sof ke lanmò ta separe ou de mwen.”
18 And she sees that she is strengthening herself to go with her, and she ceases to speak to her;
Lè li wè ke li te fin pran desizyon pou ale avè l, li pa t di l anyen ankò.
19 and the two of them go until their coming to Beth-Lehem; and it comes to pass at their coming to Beth-Lehem, that all the city is moved at them, and they say, “Is this Naomi?”
Konsa yo ale ansanm jis rive Bethléhem. Lè yo te rive Bethléhem, tout vil la te boulvèse akoz yo menm. Fanm yo te di: “Se Naomi sa a?”
20 And she says to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly to me,
Li te di yo: “Pa rele m Naomi. Rele m Mara, paske Toupwisan an te aji byen anmè avè m.
21 I went out full, and YHWH has brought me back empty, why do you call me Naomi, and YHWH has testified against me, and the Almighty has done evil to me?”
Mwen te sòti plen, men SENYÈ a mennen m tounen vid. Poukisa nou rele m Naomi, konsi SENYÈ a gen tan temwaye kont mwen, e Toupwisan an te aflije mwen?”
22 And Naomi turns back, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, who has turned back from the fields of Moab, and they have come to Beth-Lehem at the commencement of barley-harvest.
Konsa Naomi te retounen, epi avèk li, Ruth, Moabit la, bèlfi li ki te retounen soti nan peyi Moab la. Yo te vini Bethléhem nan kòmansman rekòlt lòj la.
