Romans 2
1 Therefore, you are inexcusable, O man—everyone who is judging—for in that in which you judge the other, yourself you condemn, for the same things you practice who are judging,
Ngakho kawulakuzilandulela, wena muntu, loba ungubani owahlulelayo; ngoba ngalokho owahlulela ngakho omunye, uyazilahla wena, ngoba wena owahlulelayo wenza izinto ezifananayo.
2 and we have known that the judgment of God is according to truth, on those practicing such things.
Njalo siyazi ukuthi ukwahlulela kukaNkulunkulu kungokweqiniso phezu kwalabo abenza izinto ezinjalo.
3 And do you think this, O man, who are judging those who such things are practicing, and are doing them, that you will escape the judgment of God?
Njalo ucabanga lokho yini, O muntu owahlulela abenza izinto ezinjalo, lawe uzenza lezozinto, ukuthi wena uzaphepha ukwahlulela kukaNkulunkulu?
4 Or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, do you despise, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to conversion?
Kumbe uyayeyisa yini inotho yomusa wakhe leyokubekezela lesineke, ungazi ukuthi umusa kaNkulunkulu ukukhokhelela ekuphendukeni?
5 But according to your hardness and impenitent heart, you treasure up wrath to yourself in [the] day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
Kodwa ngobulukhuni bakho lenhliziyo yakho engaphendukiyo uzibekela ulaka ngosuku lolaka lolwesambulo sokwahlulelwa okulungileyo kukaNkulunkulu,
6 who will render to each according to his works;
ozavuza lowo lalowo ngokwemisebenzi yakhe;
7 to those, indeed, who in continuance of a good work, seek glory, and honor, and incorruptibility—continuous life; (aiōnios g166)
impilo elaphakade kubo abalesineke ngokwenza imisebenzi elungileyo bedinga inkazimulo lodumo lokungabhubhi; (aiōnios g166)
8 and to those contentious, and disobedient, indeed, to the truth, and obeying the unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,
kodwa intukuthelo lolaka kulabo abalenkani, njalo bengalaleli iqiniso kodwa belalela ukungalungi,
9 tribulation and distress, on every soul of man that is working the evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;
usizi lokubandezeleka, phezu kwawo wonke umphefumulo womuntu owenza ububi, owomJuda kuqala lowomGriki;
10 and glory, and honor, and peace, to everyone who is working the good, both to Jew first, and to Greek.
kodwa inkazimulo lodumo lokuthula kuye wonke owenza okuhle, kumJuda kuqala lakumGriki;
11 For there is no favor by appearance with God,
ngoba kakukho ukubandlulula umuntu kuNkulunkulu.
12 for as many as sinned without law, will also perish without law, and as many as sinned in law, through law will be judged,
Ngoba bonke abonileyo bengelamlayo, ngokunjalo bazabhubha bengelamlayo; njalo bonke abonileyo emlayweni, bazagwetshwa ngomlayo;
13 for not the hearers of the Law [are] righteous before God, but the doers of the Law will be declared righteous.
ngoba kakusibo abezwayo umlayo abalungileyo phambi kukaNkulunkulu, kodwa abenzayo umlayo bazalungisiswa.
14 For when nations that have no law, by nature may do the things of the Law, these not having a law—to themselves are a law,
Ngoba nxa abezizwe abangelawo umlayo besenza ngokwemvelo okungokomlayo, bona, bengelawo umlayo, bangumlayo kubo ngokwabo;
15 who show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience also witnessing with them, and between one another the thoughts accusing or else defending,
ababonakalisa ukuthi umsebenzi womlayo ulotshiwe enhliziyweni zabo; isazela sabo laso siyafakaza, lemicabango yabo ibasole omunye komunye kumbe njalo ibavikele omunye komunye,
16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my good news, through Jesus Christ.
ngosuku uNkulunkulu azakwahlulela ngalo imfihlo zabantu, ngoJesu Kristu, ngokwevangeli lami.
17 Behold, you are named a Jew, and rest on the Law, and boast in God,
Khangela wena ubizwa ngokuthi ungumJuda, weyeme emlayweni, uzincoma ngoNkulunkulu,
18 and know the will, and approve the distinctions, being instructed out of the Law,
usazi intando yakhe, usemukela izinto ezingcono, ufundiswe emlayweni,
19 and have confidence that you yourself are a leader of blind ones, a light of those in darkness,
njalo uzithembile wena ukuthi ungumholi weziphofu, ukukhanya kwabasemnyameni,
20 a corrector of foolish ones, a teacher of babies, having the form of the knowledge and of the truth in the Law.
umeluleki wezithutha, umfundisi wensane, ulesimo solwazi lolweqiniso emlayweni.
21 You, then, who are teaching another, do you not teach yourself?
Ngakho wena ofundisa omunye, kawuzifundisi yini? Wena otshumayela ukuthi ungebi, uyeba yini?
22 You who are preaching not to steal, do you steal? You who are saying not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who are abhorring the idols, do you rob temples?
Wena othi ungafebi, uyafeba yini? Wena onengwa yizithombe, uphanga amathempeli yini?
23 You who boast in the Law, through the transgression of the Law do you dishonor God?
Wena ozincoma ngomlayo, udumaza uNkulunkulu ngokweqa umlayo yini?
24 For evil is spoken of the Name of God among the nations because of you, according as it has been written.
Ngoba ibizo likaNkulunkulu liyahlanjazwa phakathi kwabezizwe ngenxa yenu, njengoba kulotshiwe.
25 For circumcision, indeed, profits, if you may practice law, but if you may be a transgressor of law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
Ngoba isibili ukusoka kuyasiza, uba usenza umlayo; kodwa uba ungumeqi womlayo, ukusoka kwakho sekuyikungasoki.
26 If, therefore, the uncircumcision may keep the righteousness of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision?
Ngakho uba ukungasoki kugcina izimiso zomlayo, ukungasoki kwakhe kakuyikubalwa yini ukuthi kuyikusoka?
27 And the uncircumcision, by nature, fulfilling the Law, will judge you who, through letter and circumcision, [are] a transgressor of law.
Lokungasoki ngemvelo, uba kugcwalisa umlayo, kungekugwebe yini wena ongumeqi womlayo ngombhalo langokusoka?
28 For he is not a Jew who is [so] outwardly, neither [is] circumcision that which is outward in flesh;
Ngoba kayisuye umJuda onguye ngokusobala, njalo kakusikho ukusoka okusobala enyameni;
29 but a Jew [is] he who is [so] inwardly, and circumcision [is] of the heart, in spirit, not in letter, of which the praise is not of men, but of God.
kodwa yena ungumJuda onguye ngasese, lokusoka kungokwenhliziyo, emoyeni, kungeyisikho ngombhalo; ondumiso yakhe kayiveli ebantwini kodwa kuNkulunkulu.
