< Revelation 2 >

1 “To the messenger of the Ephesian assembly write: These things says He who is holding the seven stars in His right hand, who is walking in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:
To the angel of the Church in Ephesus, write. These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, and who walks among the seven golden candlesticks.
2 I have known your works, and your labor, and your endurance, and that you are not able to bear evil ones, and that you have tried those saying themselves to be apostles and are not, and have found them liars,
I know your works and your toil and stedfastness, and that you cannot endure evil men, and that you tested those who called themselves apostles, though they are not, and how you found them false.
3 and you bore, and have endurance, and have toiled because of My Name, and have not been weary.
You are holding fast, and have borne up for my names’s sake, and have not grown weary.
4 But I have against you that you left your first love!
But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
5 Remember, then, from where you have fallen, and convert, and do the first works; and if not, I come to you quickly, and will remove your lampstand from its place—if you may not convert;
Remember whence you have fallen, and turn again, and do your first works. Otherwise I am coming to you and will remove your candlestick out of its place, unless you repent.
6 but this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, that I also hate.
But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I hate.
7 He who is having an ear—let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming—I will give to him to eat of the Tree of Life that is in the midst of the paradise of God.
He who has an ear, let him listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To him that overcomes, to him will I give to eat from the tree of life which is in the garden of God.
8 And to the messenger of the assembly of the Smyrneans write: These things says the First and the Last, who became dead and lived:
And unto the angel of the Church in Smyrna, write. These are the words of the First and the Last, he who died and has returned to life.
9 I have known your works, and tribulation, and poverty—yet you are rich—and the slander of those saying themselves to be Jews, and are not, but [are] a synagogue of Satan.
I know your persecution and your poverty - but you are rich! I know the reviling of those who say that they themselves are Jews, when they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not be afraid of the things that you are about to suffer; behold, the Devil is about to cast [some] of you into prison, that you may be tried, and you will have tribulation ten days; become faithful to death, and I will give to you the garland of life.
Fear not what you are about to suffer! Behold, the devil is indeed going to put some of you in prison, that you may be tested, and you will have persecution for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
11 He who is having an ear—let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies: He who is overcoming may not be injured of the second death.
Let him who has ears, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.
12 And to the messenger of the assembly in Pergamos write: These things says He who is having the sharp two-edged sword:
And to the angel of the Church in Pergamum, write These are the words of Him who holds the sharp two-edged sword.
13 I have known your works, and where you dwell—where the throne of Satan [is]—and you hold fast My Name, and you did not deny My faith, even in the days in which Antipas [was] My faithful witness, who was put to death beside you, where Satan dwells.
I know where you dwell, where the throne of Satan is; and yet you are holding fast my name, and you have not denied my faith, even in the days of Antipas, my witness, my faithful one, who was slain among you, where Satan has his dwelling.
14 But I have a few things against you: that you have there those holding the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat idol-sacrifices, and to commit whoredom;
But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling- block before the sons of Israel, to eat food offered to idols, and to practise immorality.
15 so have you, even you, those holding the teaching of the Nicolaitans—which thing I hate.
So you have also some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
16 Convert! And if not, I come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.
Repent; if you do not I will very soon come to you, and will make war upon them with the sword of my mouth.
17 He who is having an ear—let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming, I will give to him to eat from the hidden manna, and will give to him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, that no one knew except him who is receiving [it].
He who has ears, let him listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To him that overcomes I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no man knows, but he that receives it.
18 And to the messenger of the assembly of Thyatira write: These things says the Son of God, who is having His eyes as a flame of fire, and His feet like to frankincense-colored brass:
And to the angel of the Church in Thyatira, write. These are the words of the Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet like burnished brass.
19 I have known your works, and love, and ministry, and faith, and your endurance, and your works—and the last [are] more than the first.
I know your works and your love and faith and service and endurance; I know that your last works are more than the first.
20 But I have a few things against you: that you allow the woman Jezebel, who is calling herself a prophetess, to teach, and to lead astray, My servants to commit whoredom, and to eat idol-sacrifices;
But I have this against you, that you are tolerating that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she is teaching and leading my slaves astray, leading them to practise immorality, and to eat food which has been sacrificed to idols.
21 and I gave to her a time that she might convert from her whoredom, and she did not convert;
I have given her time for repentance; but she is determined not to turn from her immorality.
22 behold, I will cast her into a bed, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation—if they may not convert from her works,
Behold, I will lay her on a sick bed, and bring great distress upon those who have committed adultery with her, unless they turn away from her works.
23 and I will kill her children in death, and all the assemblies will know that I am He who is searching affections and hearts; and I will give to you—to each—according to your works.
And moreover, her children will I kill with pestilence. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches the hearts and souls of men. I will give to each of you according to his works.
24 And to you I say, and to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as do not have this teaching, and who did not know the depths of Satan, as they say—I will not put on you another burden,
But to the rest of you in Thyatira, those who do not hold his teaching, and who do not know the "deep things" of Satan (as they call them),
25 but hold that which you have, until I may come;
I say that I am imposing upon you no fresh burden; only hold fast what you have till I come.
26 and he who is overcoming, and who is keeping My works to the end, I will give to him authority over the nations,
To him that overcomes and perseveres in my works to the end, will I give authority over the nations.
27 and he will rule them with a rod of iron—they will be broken as the vessels of the potter—as I have also received from My Father;
And he shall shepherd them with a rod of iron, shattering them like earthen vessels (as I myself have received from my Father),
28 and I will give to him the morning star.
and I will give him the Morning Star."
29 He who is having an ear—let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.”
Let him who has an ear, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
