Psalms 91
1 He who is dwelling In the secret place of the Most High, Habitually lodges in the shade of the Mighty,
Lowo ohlala ekusithekeni koPhezukonke uzaphumula emthunzini kaSomandla.
2 He is saying of YHWH, “My refuge, and my bulwark, my God, I trust in Him,”
Ngizakuthi kuThixo, “Uyisiphephelo sami lenqaba yami, uNkulunkulu wami, engithemba kuye.”
3 For He delivers you from the snare of a fowler, From a calamitous pestilence.
Ngempela uzakuphephisa emjibileni womthiyi lasesifeni esibi esibulalayo.
4 He covers you over with His pinion, And under His wings you trust, His truth [is] a shield and buckler.
Uzakusibekela ngezinsiba zakhe, uzuze isiphephelo ngaphansi kwamaphiko akhe; ukuthembeka kwakhe kuzakuba yisihlangu sakho lenqaba yakho.
5 You are not afraid of fear by night, Of arrow that flies by day,
Awuyikwesaba umnyama wobusuku, loba umtshoko ontweza emini,
6 Of pestilence that walks in thick darkness, Of destruction that destroys at noon,
kumbe ingozi ehahabela emnyameni, kumbe umkhuhlane obhubhisayo emini enkulu.
7 One thousand fall at your side, And a myriad at your right hand, [But] it does not come near to you.
Abazinkulungwane bangawa eceleni lakho; itshumi lezinkulungwane esandleni sakho sokunene, kodwa kakusoze kusondele kuwe.
8 But with your eyes you look, And you see the reward of the wicked,
Uzaphosa nje amehlo akho ubukele ubone ukujeziswa kwababi.
9 (For You, O YHWH, [are] my refuge), You made the Most High your habitation.
Ungenza oPhezukonke abe likhaya lakho yena uThixo oyisiphephelo sami
10 Evil does not happen to you, And a plague does not come near your tent,
lapho-ke akulangozi engakuwela, akulamonakalo ozasondela ethenteni lakho.
11 For He charges His messengers for you, To keep you in all your ways,
Ngoba uzayala izingilosi zakhe ngawe zikulinde kuzozonke izindlela zakho;
12 On the hands they bear you up, Lest you strike your foot against a stone.
zizakuphakamisa ezandleni zazo, ukuze ungakhubeki elitsheni.
13 You tread on lion and cobra, You trample young lion and dragon.
Uzanyathela isilwane lephimpi; uzasigxoba isilwane esikhulu lenyoka.
14 Because he has delighted in Me, I also deliver him—I set him on high, Because he has known My Name.
“Ngoba uyangithanda,” kutsho uThixo, “ngizamkhulula; ngizamvikela, ngoba uyalinaka ibizo lami.
15 He calls Me, and I answer him, I [am] with him in distress, I deliver him, and honor him.
Uzangibiza, ngimphendule; ngizakuba laye ekuhluphekeni, ngizamkhulula ngimenzele udumo.
16 I satisfy him with [the] length of [his] days, And I cause him to look on My salvation!
Ngizamsuthisa ngempilo ende ngimtshengise insindiso yami.”
