< Psalms 9 >

1 TO THE OVERSEER. [SET] ON “DEATH OF THE SON.” A PSALM OF DAVID. I confess, O YHWH, with all my heart, I recount all Your wonders,
“To the chief musician upon Muthlabben, a psalm of David.” I will thank the Lord with all my heart: I will relate all thy marvelous deeds.
2 I rejoice and exult in You, I praise Your Name, O Most High.
I will rejoice and exult in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou Most High:
3 In my enemies turning backward, They stumble and perish from Your face.
When my enemies are turned backward, [when] they fall and perish at thy presence.
4 For You have done my judgment and my right. You have sat on a throne, Judging [with] righteousness.
For thou hast conducted my dispute and my cause; thou hast sat on the throne as a righteous judge.
5 You have rebuked nations, You have destroyed the wicked, You have blotted out their name for all time and forever.
Thou hast rebuked nations, thou hast caused the wicked to perish, their name hast thou blotted out for ever and ever.
6 The enemy—[your] destructions have been completed forever, As for cities you have plucked up, Their memorial has perished with them.
O thou enemy, the ruins are passed away for ever, and the cities which thou hast destroyed, —lost is their memorial, yea, theirs.
7 And YHWH abides for all time, He is preparing His throne for judgment.
But the Lord will sit enthroned for ever: he hath established for giving judgment his throne.
8 And He judges the world in righteousness, He judges the peoples in uprightness.
And he will judge the world with righteousness, he shall decide for the people, with equity.
9 And YHWH is a tower for the bruised, A tower for times of adversity.
The Lord also will be a strong-hold for the oppressed, a strong-hold in times of distress.
10 They trust in You who know Your Name, For You have not forsaken those seeking You, O YHWH.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou hast not forsaken those that seek thee, O Lord.
11 Sing praise to YHWH, inhabiting Zion, Declare His acts among the peoples,
Sing praises to the Lord, who dwelleth in Zion: announce among the people his deeds.
12 For He who is seeking for blood Has remembered them, He has not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.
For he, that inquireth after acts of blood, hath remembered them: he hath not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.
13 Favor me, O YHWH, See my affliction by those hating me, You who lift me up from the gates of death,
Be gracious unto me, O Lord; have regard to my affliction [coming] from those that hate me, thou who liftest me up from the gates of death:
14 So that I recount all Your praise, In the gates of the daughter of Zion. I rejoice on Your salvation.
In order that I may relate all thy praises in the gates of the daughters of Zion: I will be glad in thy salvation.
15 Nations have sunk in a pit they made, Their foot has been captured in a net that they hid.
Sunk are nations in the ditch that they have prepared: in this net which they had laid in secret is their own foot caught.
16 YHWH has been known, He has done judgment; By a work of his hands The wicked has been snared. (Meditation, Selah)
The Lord is made known: he executed justice: through the doing of his own hands is the wicked ensnared. Higgayon, (Selah)
17 The wicked turn back to Sheol, All nations forgetting God. (Sheol h7585)
The wicked shall return into hell, all the nations that are forgetful of God. (Sheol h7585)
18 For the needy is not forgotten forever, [Nor] the hope of the humble lost for all time.
For not everlastingly shall the needy be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
19 Rise, O YHWH, do not let man be strong, Let nations be judged before Your face.
Arise, O Lord; let not the mortal boast of his strength; let nations be judged before thy face.
20 Appoint them to fear, O YHWH, Let nations know they [are] men! (Selah)
Place, O Lord, fear over them: let nations know, that they are but mortals. (Selah)
