Psalms 82

1 A PSALM OF ASAPH. God has stood in the congregation of God, He judges among the gods.

Een psalm van Asaf. God staat in de vergadering Godes; Hij oordeelt in het midden der goden;

2 Until when do you judge perversely? And lift up the face of the wicked? (Selah)

Hoe lang zult gijlieden onrecht oordelen, en het aangezicht der goddelozen aannemen? (Sela)

3 Judge the weak and fatherless, Declare the afflicted and the poor righteous.

Doet recht den arme en den wees; rechtvaardigt den verdrukte en den arme.

4 Let the weak and needy escape, Deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Verlost den arme en den behoeftige, rukt hem uit der goddelozen hand.

5 They did not know, nor do they understand, They habitually walk in darkness, All the foundations of earth are moved.

Zij weten niet, en verstaan niet; zij wandelen steeds in duisternis; dies wankelen alle fondamenten der aarde.

6 I have said, “You [are] gods, And sons of the Most High—all of you,

Ik heb wel gezegd: Gij zijt goden; en gij zijt allen kinderen des Allerhoogsten;

7 But you die as man, and you fall as one of the heads.”

Nochtans zult gij sterven als een mens; en als een van de vorsten zult gij vallen.

8 Rise, O God, judge the earth, For You have inheritance among all the nations!

Sta op, o God! oordeel het aardrijk, want Gij bezit alle natien.
