Psalms 8

1 TO THE OVERSEER. ON THE GITTITH. A PSALM OF DAVID. YHWH, our Lord, How majestic [is] Your Name in all the earth, Who have set Your splendor on the heavens!

Oh Gospod, naš Gospod, kako odlično je tvoje ime na vsej zemlji! Ki si svojo slavo postavil nad nebo.

2 From the mouths of infants and sucklings You have founded strength, Because of Your adversaries, To still an enemy and a self-avenger.

Iz ust otročičev in dojenčkov si zaradi svojih sovražnikov odredil moč, da bi lahko utišal sovražnika in maščevalca.

3 For I see Your heavens, a work of Your fingers, [The] moon and stars that You established.

Ko opazujem tvoje nebo, delo tvojih prstov, luno in zvezde, ki si jih odredil;

4 What [is] man that You remember him? The son of man that You inspect him?

kaj je človek, da misliš nanj? In človeški sin, da ga obiskuješ?

5 You make him a little lower than the gods [[or God]], And surround him with glory and majesty.

Kajti naredil si ga malo nižjega kot angele in ga okronal s slavo in častjo.

6 You cause him to rule Over the works of Your hands, You have placed all under his feet.

Naredil si, da ima gospostvo nad deli tvojih rok; vse stvari si položil pod njegova stopala.

7 Sheep and oxen, all of them, And also beasts of the field,

Vse ovce in vole, da in poljske živali,

8 Bird of the heavens, and fish of the sea, Passing through the paths of the seas!

zračno perjad in ribe morja in karkoli se giblje skozi morske steze.

9 YHWH, our Lord, How majestic [is] Your Name in all the earth!

Oh Gospod, naš Gospod, kako odlično je tvoje ime na vsej zemlji!
