Psalms 75

1 TO THE OVERSEER. “DO NOT DESTROY.” A PSALM OF ASAPH. A SONG. We have given thanks to You, O God, We have given thanks, and Your Name [is] near, They have recounted Your wonders.

Dem Vorsänger. «Verdirb nicht.» Ein Psalmlied, von Asaph. Wir danken dir, o Gott, wir danken dir, und die mit deinem Namen vertraut sind, erzählen deine Wunder!

2 When I receive an appointment, I judge uprightly.

«Wenn ich finde, daß die Zeit dafür da ist, so werde ich recht richten.

3 The earth and all its inhabitants are melted, I have pondered its pillars. (Selah)

Mag die Erde zittern und alle ihre Bewohner: Ich habe ihre Säulen festgestellt.» (Pause)

4 I have said to the boastful, “Do not be boastful,” And to the wicked, “Do not raise up a horn.”

Ich sprach zu den Übermütigen: Seid nicht übermütig! und zu den Gottlosen: Erhebet nicht das Horn!

5 Do not raise up your horn on high (You speak with a stiff neck).

Erhebet nicht gar so hoch euer Horn, redet nicht mit frech emporgerecktem Hals!

6 For not from the east, or from the west, Nor from the wilderness—[is] elevation.

Denn weder vom Aufgang noch vom Niedergang, noch von der Wüste her kommt Erhöhung;

7 But God [is] judging, This He makes low—and this He lifts up.

sondern Gott ist Richter, der den einen erniedrigt, den andern erhöht.

8 For a cup [is] in the hand of YHWH, And the wine has foamed, It is full of mixture, and He pours out of it, Surely wring out its dregs, And all the wicked of the earth drink,

Denn der HERR hat einen Becher in der Hand, der ist mit schäumendem Würzwein gefüllt; davon schenkt er ein; sogar die Hefen davon müssen schlürfen und trinken alle Gottlosen auf Erden.

9 And I declare [it] for all time, I sing praise to the God of Jacob.

Ich aber will allezeit frei bekennen; dem Gott Jakobs will ich lobsingen;

10 And I cut off all horns of the wicked, The horns of the righteous are exalted!

und alle Hörner der Gottlosen will ich abhauen; aber die Hörner des Gerechten sollen erhoben werden!
