< Psalms 64 >

1 TO THE OVERSEER. A PSALM OF DAVID. Hear, O God, my voice, in my (meditation) You keep my life from the fear of an enemy,
In finem, Psalmus David. Exaudi Deus orationem meam cum deprecor: a timore inimici eripe animam meam.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, From the tumult of workers of iniquity.
Protexisti me a conventu malignantium: a multitudine operantium iniquitatem.
3 Who sharpened their tongue as a sword, They directed their arrow—a bitter word.
Quia exacuerunt ut gladium linguas suas: intenderunt arcum rem amaram,
4 To shoot the perfect in secret places, Suddenly they shoot him, and do not fear.
ut sagittent in occultis immaculatum.
5 They strengthen an evil thing for themselves, They recount of the hiding of snares, They have said, “Who looks at it?”
Subito sagittabunt eum, et non timebunt: firmaverunt sibi sermonem nequam. Narraverunt ut absconderent laqueos: dixerunt: Quis videbit eos?
6 They search out perverse things, “We perfected a searching search,” And the inward part of man, and the heart, [are] deep.
Scrutati sunt iniquitates: defecerunt scrutantes scrutinio. Accedet homo ad cor altum:
7 And God shoots them [with] an arrow, Their wounds have been sudden,
et exaltabitur Deus. Sagittæ parvulorum factæ sunt plagæ eorum:
8 And they cause him to stumble, Their own tongue [is] against them, Every looker on them flees away.
et infirmatæ sunt contra eos linguæ eorum. Conturbati sunt omnes qui videbant eos:
9 And all men fear, and declare the work of God, And they have wisely considered His deed.
et timuit omnis homo. Et annunciaverunt opera Dei: et facta eius intellexerunt.
10 The righteous rejoice in YHWH, And have trusted in Him, And all the upright of heart boast!
Lætabitur iustus in Domino, et sperabit in eo, et laudabuntur omnes recti corde.
