< Psalms 62 >
1 TO THE OVERSEER. FOR JEDUTHUN. A PSALM OF DAVID. Toward God alone [is] my soul silent, My salvation [is] from Him.
My soul waits in silence for God only. From him is my salvation.
2 He alone [is] my rock, and my salvation, My tower, I am not much moved.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my high tower. I shall not be greatly moved.
3 Until when do you devise mischief against a man? All of you are destroyed, As a wall inclined, a hedge that is cast down.
How long will ye set upon a man, that ye may kill, all of you, like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
4 Only—from his excellence They have consulted to drive away, They enjoy a lie, they bless with their mouth, And revile with their heart. (Selah)
They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. (Selah)
5 For God alone, be silent, O my soul, For my hope [is] from Him.
My soul, wait thou in silence for God only, for my expectation is from him.
6 He alone [is] my rock and my salvation, My tower, I am not moved.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my high tower. I shall not be moved.
7 On God [is] my salvation, and my glory, The rock of my strength, my refuge [is] in God.
With God is my salvation and my glory. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in Him at all times, O people, Pour forth your heart before Him, God [is] a refuge for us. (Selah)
Trust in him at all times, ye people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. (Selah)
9 Surely vanity the low, a lie the high. In balances to go up They [are] lighter than a breath.
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than vanity.
10 Do not trust in oppression, And do not become vain in robbery, Do not set the heart [on] wealth when it increases.
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery. If riches increase, set not your heart on it.
11 Once has God spoken, twice I heard this, That “strength [is] with God.”
God has spoken once, twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.
12 And with You, O Lord, [is] kindness, For You repay to each, According to his work!
Also to thee, O Lord, belongs loving kindness, for thou render to every man according to his work.
