< Psalms 56 >

1 TO THE OVERSEER. [SET] ON “A SILENT DOVE FAR OFF.” A MIKTAM OF DAVID, IN THE PHILISTINES’ TAKING HOLD OF HIM IN GATH. Favor me, O God, for man swallowed me up, All the day fighting he oppresses me,
Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Sonatilemi-Lehokimi, ko e Saame mahuʻinga ʻa Tevita, ʻi he puke ia ʻe he kakai Filisitia ʻi Kata. Ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate au, ʻE ʻOtua: he ʻoku fie folo hifo au ʻe he tangata; ʻoku ne tauʻi au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa, ʻo ne taʻomia au.
2 My enemies have swallowed up all the day, For many [are] fighting against me, O Most High,
Ko e loto ʻo hoku ngaahi fili ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē ke folo hifo au: he ʻoku tokolahi ʻakinautolu ʻoku tauʻi au, ʻE Fungani Māʻolunga.
3 [In] the day I am afraid I am confident toward You.
‌ʻI he ʻaho ʻoku ou manavahē ai, te u falala kiate koe.
4 In God I praise His word, in God I have trusted, I do not fear what flesh does to me.
Te u fakamālō ki he ʻOtua ʻi heʻene folofola; ʻoku ou falala ki he ʻOtua; ʻe ʻikai te u manavahē ki he meʻa ʻe faʻa fai ʻe he kakai kiate au.
5 All the day they wrest my words, All their thoughts [are] for evil concerning me,
‌ʻOku nau fakakehe ʻeku ngaahi lea ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē: ko ʻenau fakakaukau kotoa pē ke u kovi ai au.
6 They assemble, they hide, they watch my heels, When they have expected my soul.
‌ʻOku nau fakataha ʻakinautolu, ʻoku nau fakafufū ʻakinautolu, ʻoku nau vakai hoku ʻaluʻanga, ʻi heʻenau holi ki heʻeku moʻui.
7 They escape by iniquity, In anger put down the peoples, O God.
Te nau hao koā ʻi heʻenau hia? ʻE ʻOtua, ke ke lī ki lalo ʻae kakai ʻi he houhau.
8 You have counted my wandering, You place my tear in Your bottle, Are they not in Your scroll?
‌ʻOku ke lau ʻa ʻeku ʻalu fano pē: ke ke ʻutu hoku ngaahi loʻimata ki hoʻo hina: ʻikai ʻoku nau tuʻu ʻi hoʻo tohi?
9 Then turn back my enemies in the day I call. This I have known, that God [is] for me.
‌ʻO kau ka tangi kiate koe, ʻe foki kimui ai ʻa hoku ngaahi fili: ʻoku ou ʻilo ʻae meʻa ni; he ʻoku ʻiate au ʻae ʻOtua.
10 In God I praise the word, In YHWH I praise the word.
Te u fakamālō ki he ʻOtua ʻi heʻene folofola: te u fakamālō kia Sihova ʻi heʻene folofola.
11 In God I trusted, I do not fear what man does to me,
Kuo u falala ki he ʻOtua: ʻe ʻikai te u manavahē ki ha meʻa ʻe faʻa fai ʻe he tangata kiate au.
12 On me, O God, [are] Your vows, I repay thank-offerings to You.
‌ʻE ʻOtua, ʻoku ʻiate au hoʻo ngaahi fuakava: te u ʻatu ʻae fakamālō kiate koe,
13 For You have delivered my soul from death, Do You not [keep] my feet from falling? To habitually walk before God in the light of the living!
He kuo ke fakamoʻui hoku laumālie mei he mate: pea ʻikai te ke fakahaofi hoku vaʻe mei he hinga, koeʻuhi ke u ʻeveʻeva ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ʻOtua ʻi he maama ʻoe kakai moʻui?
