Psalms 56

1 TO THE OVERSEER. [SET] ON “A SILENT DOVE FAR OFF.” A MIKTAM OF DAVID, IN THE PHILISTINES’ TAKING HOLD OF HIM IN GATH. Favor me, O God, for man swallowed me up, All the day fighting he oppresses me,

Al maestro de coro. Por el tono “Paloma silenciosa de la lejanía”. De David. Miktam. Cuando lo prendieron los filisteos en Qat. Apiádate de mí, oh Dios, porque el hombre me pisotea, me oprime con su ataque incesante.

2 My enemies have swallowed up all the day, For many [are] fighting against me, O Most High,

Todo el día tratan mis enemigos de devorarme, y son muchos los que me combaten... Oh Altísimo,

3 [In] the day I am afraid I am confident toward You.

el día en que me invada el temor, confiaré en Ti.

4 In God I praise His word, in God I have trusted, I do not fear what flesh does to me.

Me gloriaré en la promesa de Dios, confiado en Dios no temo. ¿Qué podrá contra mí un hombre de carne?

5 All the day they wrest my words, All their thoughts [are] for evil concerning me,

Siempre toman a mal mis palabras, todos sus pensamientos son para mi daño.

6 They assemble, they hide, they watch my heels, When they have expected my soul.

Se conjuran, ponen asechanzas, observan mis pasos, buscando cómo quitarme la vida.

7 They escape by iniquity, In anger put down the peoples, O God.

Devuélveles otro tanto por su iniquidad; oh Dios, abate los pueblos en tu ira.

8 You have counted my wandering, You place my tear in Your bottle, Are they not in Your scroll?

Tú cuentas los pasos de mi vida errante; recoges mis lágrimas en tu redoma. ¿No están acaso escritos en tu libro?

9 Then turn back my enemies in the day I call. This I have known, that God [is] for me.

Así pues mis enemigos retrocederán; cada vez que apelo a Ti conozco que Dios está conmigo.

10 In God I praise the word, In YHWH I praise the word.

Me gloriaré en la promesa de Dios,

11 In God I trusted, I do not fear what man does to me,

confiado en Dios no temo. ¿Qué podrá contra mí un hombre de carne?

12 On me, O God, [are] Your vows, I repay thank-offerings to You.

Te debo, oh Dios, los votos que te hice; te ofreceré sacrificios de alabanza.

13 For You have delivered my soul from death, Do You not [keep] my feet from falling? To habitually walk before God in the light of the living!

Pues Tú has librado mi vida de la muerte, y mis pies de la caída, para que ande yo ante la faz de Dios en la luz de los vivientes.
