Psalms 56

1 TO THE OVERSEER. [SET] ON “A SILENT DOVE FAR OFF.” A MIKTAM OF DAVID, IN THE PHILISTINES’ TAKING HOLD OF HIM IN GATH. Favor me, O God, for man swallowed me up, All the day fighting he oppresses me,

Untuk pemimpin biduan. Menurut lagu: Merpati di pohon-pohon tarbantin yang jauh. Miktam dari Daud, ketika orang Filistin menangkap dia di Gat. Kasihanilah aku, ya Allah, sebab orang-orang menginjak-injak aku, sepanjang hari orang memerangi dan mengimpit aku!

2 My enemies have swallowed up all the day, For many [are] fighting against me, O Most High,

Seteru-seteruku menginjak-injak aku sepanjang hari, bahkan banyak orang yang memerangi aku dengan sombong.

3 [In] the day I am afraid I am confident toward You.

Waktu aku takut, aku ini percaya kepada-Mu;

4 In God I praise His word, in God I have trusted, I do not fear what flesh does to me.

kepada Allah, yang firman-Nya kupuji, kepada Allah aku percaya, aku tidak takut. Apakah yang dapat dilakukan manusia terhadap aku?

5 All the day they wrest my words, All their thoughts [are] for evil concerning me,

Sepanjang hari mereka mengacaukan perkaraku; mereka senantiasa bermaksud jahat terhadap aku.

6 They assemble, they hide, they watch my heels, When they have expected my soul.

Mereka mau menyerbu, mereka mengintip, mengamat-amati langkahku, seperti orang-orang yang ingin mencabut nyawaku.

7 They escape by iniquity, In anger put down the peoples, O God.

Apakah mereka dapat luput dengan kejahatan mereka? Runtuhkanlah bangsa-bangsa dengan murka-Mu, ya Allah!

8 You have counted my wandering, You place my tear in Your bottle, Are they not in Your scroll?

Sengsaraku Engkaulah yang menghitung-hitung, air mataku Kautaruh ke dalam kirbat-Mu. Bukankah semuanya telah Kaudaftarkan?

9 Then turn back my enemies in the day I call. This I have known, that God [is] for me.

Maka musuhku akan mundur pada waktu aku berseru; aku yakin, bahwa Allah memihak kepadaku.

10 In God I praise the word, In YHWH I praise the word.

Kepada Allah, firman-Nya kupuji, kepada TUHAN, firman-Nya kupuji,

11 In God I trusted, I do not fear what man does to me,

kepada Allah aku percaya, aku tidak takut. Apakah yang dapat dilakukan manusia terhadap aku?

12 On me, O God, [are] Your vows, I repay thank-offerings to You.

Nazarku kepada-Mu, ya Allah, akan kulaksanakan, dan korban syukur akan kubayar kepada-Mu.

13 For You have delivered my soul from death, Do You not [keep] my feet from falling? To habitually walk before God in the light of the living!

Sebab Engkau telah meluputkan aku dari pada maut, bahkan menjaga kakiku, sehingga tidak tersandung; maka aku boleh berjalan di hadapan Allah dalam cahaya kehidupan.
