< Psalms 54 >
1 TO THE OVERSEER. WITH STRINGED INSTRUMENTS. AN INSTRUCTION OF DAVID, IN THE COMING IN OF THE ZIPHIM, AND THEY SAY TO SAUL, “IS DAVID NOT HIDING HIMSELF WITH US?” O God, save me by Your Name, and judge me by Your might.
Psalmus, in finem, In hymnis intellectus David, cum venerunt Ziphaei, et dixerunt ad Saul: Nonne ecce David absconditus est apud nos? Deus in nomine tuo salvum me fac: et in virtute tua iudica me.
2 O God, hear my prayer, Give ear to the sayings of my mouth,
Deus exaudi orationem meam: auribus percipe verba oris mei.
3 For strangers have risen up against me And terrible ones have sought my soul, They have not set God before them. (Selah)
Quoniam alieni insurrexerunt adversum me, et fortes quaesierunt animam meam: et non proposuerunt Deum ante conspectum suum.
4 Behold, God [is] a helper to me, The Lord [is] with those supporting my soul,
Ecce enim Deus adiuvat me: et Dominus susceptor est animae meae.
5 Turn back the evil to my enemies, Cut them off in Your truth.
Averte mala inimicis meis: et in veritate tua disperde illos.
6 I sacrifice to You with a free-will offering, I thank Your Name, O YHWH, for [it is] good,
Voluntarie sacrificabo tibi, et confitebor nomini tuo Domine: quoniam bonum est:
7 For He delivered me from all adversity, And my eye has looked on my enemies!
Quoniam ex omni tribulatione eripuisti me: et super inimicos meos despexit oculus meus.
