Psalms 49
1 TO THE OVERSEER. A PSALM OF THE SONS OF KORAH. Hear this, all you peoples, Give ear, all you inhabitants of the world.
科辣黑後裔歌，用高音，交與樂官。 關於這事，請萬民都要靜聽，普世居民，請你們側耳細聽，
2 Both low and high, together rich and needy.
不論貧富無分縉紳百姓，請你們都一一側耳聆聽。
3 My mouth speaks wise things, And the meditations of my heart [are] things of understanding.
我的口要宣講智慧，我的心要思念哲理。
4 I incline my ear to an allegory, I open my riddle with a harp:
我要側耳恭聽諺語，我要鼓琴解釋隱語。
5 Why do I fear in days of evil? The iniquity of my supplanters surrounds me.
當陷害我者的毒謀圍我時，在我困厄的日期，我有何所懼？
6 Those trusting on their wealth, And in the multitude of their riches, Show themselves foolish.
因為他們只知依恃財產的富足，他們只會誇耀自己金錢的豐裕；
7 A brother ransoms no one at all, He does not give to God his atonement.
但是金錢不能使任何人得救，決不能把人的贖債還給天主，
8 And precious [is] the redemption of their soul, And it has ceased for all time.
因為人命的贖債非常昂貴，任何金錢也決不足以贖回，
9 And still he lives forever, He does not see the pit.
不能使人生存久長，不能使人不見死亡。
10 For he sees wise men die, Together the foolish and brutish perish, And have left their wealth to others.
你看，智者死去，愚昧者也同樣沉淪，他們都將自己的財產遺留給別人。
11 Their heart [is that] their houses [are] for all time, Their dwelling places from generation to generation. They proclaimed their names over the lands.
他們雖然曾以自己的名號，給一些地方命名，但是他們永久的住宅，萬代的居所卻是墳塋。
12 And man does not remain in honor, He has been like the beasts, they have been cut off.
人在富貴中絕不能久長，將與牲畜無異，同樣死亡。
13 This their way [is] folly for them, And their posterity are pleased with their sayings. (Selah)
這就是自滿昏愚者的終途，這就是自誇幸運者的末路。
14 They have set themselves as sheep for Sheol, Death afflicts them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form [is] for consumption. Sheol [is] a dwelling for him. (Sheol h7585)
他們就如羊群一般被人趕入深坑，死亡要牧放他們，義人要主宰他們。他們的容貌即刻色衰，陰間將是他們的住宅。 (Sheol h7585)
但是天主必救我靈脫離陰府，因為祂要把我接走。 (Sheol h7585)
16 Do not fear when one makes wealth, When the glory of his house is abundant,
不要嫉妒他人變成富翁，不要忌恨他人家產倍增；
17 For at his death he receives nothing, His glory does not go down after him.
因為他死時什麼也不能帶走，他的財產也不能隨著他同去。
18 For he blesses his soul in his life (And they praise you when you do well for yourself).
他在生時雖我陶醉說：「只要你幸福，人必誇讚你。」
19 It comes to the generation of his fathers, They do not see the light forever.
他終要回去和他的祖先相逢，永永遠遠他再不能看到光明。
20 Man in honor, who does not understand, Has been like the beasts, they have been cut off!
人在富貴中，不深思遠慮，將與牲畜無異，都要死去
