< Psalms 3 >
1 A PSALM OF DAVID, IN HIS FLEEING FROM THE FACE OF HIS SON ABSALOM. YHWH, how my distresses have multiplied! Many are rising up against me.
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they multiplied that trouble me? many [are] they that rise up against me.
2 Many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” (Selah)
Many [there are] who say of my soul, [There is] no help for him in God. (Selah)
3 And You, O YHWH, [are] a shield for me, My glory, and lifter up of my head.
But thou, O LORD, [art] a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
4 My voice [is] to YHWH: I call and He answers me from His holy hill, (Selah)
I cried to the LORD with my voice, and he heard me from his holy hill. (Selah)
5 I have lain down, and I sleep, I have awoken, for YHWH sustains me.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
6 I am not afraid of myriads of people, That they have set against me all around.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set [themselves] against me on all sides.
7 Rise, O YHWH! Save me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies [on] the cheek. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all my enemies [upon] the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 This salvation [is] of YHWH; Your blessing [is] on Your people! (Selah)
Salvation [belongeth] to the LORD: thy blessing [is] upon thy people. (Selah)
