< Psalms 3 >
1 A PSALM OF DAVID, IN HIS FLEEING FROM THE FACE OF HIS SON ABSALOM. YHWH, how my distresses have multiplied! Many are rising up against me.
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they multiplied that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” (Selah)
Many there are who say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. (Selah)
3 And You, O YHWH, [are] a shield for me, My glory, and lifter up of my head.
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
4 My voice [is] to YHWH: I call and He answers me from His holy hill, (Selah)
I cried to the LORD with my voice, and he heard me from his holy hill. (Selah)
5 I have lain down, and I sleep, I have awoken, for YHWH sustains me.
I laid me down and slept; I awoke; for the LORD sustained me.
6 I am not afraid of myriads of people, That they have set against me all around.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me on all sides.
7 Rise, O YHWH! Save me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies [on] the cheek. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all my enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 This salvation [is] of YHWH; Your blessing [is] on Your people! (Selah)
Salvation belongeth to the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. (Selah)
