< Psalms 16 >

1 A MIKTAM OF DAVID. Preserve me, O God, for I trusted in You.
Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 You have said to YHWH, “You [are] my Lord”; My goodness [is] not above You;
I have said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: I have no good beyond thee.
3 For the holy ones who [are] in the land, And the honorable, all my delight [is] in them.
As for the saints that are in the earth, they are the excellent in whom is all my delight.
4 Their griefs are multiplied, [who] have hurried backward; I do not pour out their drink-offerings of blood, Nor do I take up their names on my lips.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that exchange [the LORD] for another [god]: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take their names upon my lips.
5 YHWH [is] the portion of my share, and of my cup, You uphold my lot.
The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 Lines have fallen to me in pleasant places, Indeed, a beautiful inheritance [is] for me.
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I bless YHWH who has counseled me; Also [in] the nights my reins instruct me.
I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: yea, my reins instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I placed YHWH before me continually, Because [He is] at my right hand I am not moved.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart has been glad, And my glory rejoices, Also my flesh dwells confidently:
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall dwell in safety.
10 For You do not leave my soul to Sheol, Nor give your Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol h7585)
For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol; neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption. (Sheol h7585)
11 You cause me to know the path of life; In Your presence [is] fullness of joys, Pleasant things [are] by Your right hand forever!
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
