< Psalms 144 >

1 BY DAVID. Blessed [is] YHWH my Rock, Who is teaching My hands for war, My fingers for battle.
Blessed be the Lord my God, who teacheth my hands to fight, and my fingers to war.
2 My kind one, and my bulwark, My tower, and my deliverer, My shield, and in whom I have trusted, Who is subduing my people under me!
My mercy, and my refuge: my support, and my deliverer: My protector, and I have hoped in him: who subdueth my people under me.
3 YHWH, what [is] man that You know him? The son of man, that You esteem him?
Lord, what is man, that thou art made known to him? or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?
4 Man has been like a breath, His days [are] as a shadow passing by.
Man is like to vanity: his days pass away like a shadow.
5 YHWH, incline Your heavens and come down, Strike against mountains, and they smoke.
Lord, bow down thy heavens and descend: touch the mountains and they shall smoke.
6 Send forth lightning, and scatter them, Send forth Your arrows, and trouble them,
Send forth lightning, and thou shalt scatter them: shoot out thy arrows, and thou shalt trouble them.
7 Send forth Your hand from on high, Free me, and deliver me from many waters, From the hand of sons of a stranger,
Put forth thy hand from on high, take me out, and deliver me from many waters: from the hand of strange children:
8 Because their mouth has spoken vanity, And their right hand [is] a right hand of falsehood.
Whose mouth hath spoken vanity: and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.
9 O God, I sing to You a new song, I sing praise to You on a stringed instrument of ten strings.
To thee, O God, I will sing a new canticle: on the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises to thee.
10 Who is giving deliverance to kings, Who is freeing His servant David from the sword of evil.
Who givest salvation to kings: who hast redeemed thy servant David from the malicious sword:
11 Free me, and deliver me From the hand of sons of a stranger, Because their mouth has spoken vanity, And their right hand [is] a right hand of falsehood,
Deliver me, And rescue me out of the hand of strange children; whose mouth hath spoken vanity: and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity:
12 Because our sons [are] as plants, Becoming great in their youth, Our daughters as hewn stones, Polished—the likeness of a palace,
Whose sons are as new plants in their youth: Their daughters decked out, adorned round about after the similitude of a temple:
13 Our granaries [are] full, bringing out from kind to kind, Our flocks are bringing forth thousands, Ten thousands in our out-places,
Their storehouses full, flowing out of this into that. Their sheep fruitful in young, abounding in their goings forth:
14 Our oxen are carrying, there is no breach, And there is no outgoing, And there is no crying in our broad places.
Their oxen fat. There is no breach of wall, nor passage, nor crying out in their streets.
15 O the blessedness of the people that is thus, O the blessedness of the people whose God [is] YHWH!
They have called the people happy, that hath these things: but happy is that people whose God is the Lord.
