< Psalms 132 >
1 A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. Remember, YHWH, for David, all his afflictions;
A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. Lord, remember David, and all that he went through.
2 Who has sworn to YHWH, He has vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
He made a promise to the Lord, a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 “If I enter into the tent of my house, If I go up on the couch of my bed,
“I will not go home, I will not go to bed,
4 If I give sleep to my eyes, To my eyelids—slumber,
I will not go to sleep, I will not take a nap,
5 Until I find a place for YHWH, dwelling places for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
until I find a place where the Lord can live, a home for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we have heard it in Ephratah, We have found it in the fields of the forest.
In Ephrathah we received information about the Ark of Agreement, and we found it in fields near Jaar.
7 We come into His dwelling places, We bow ourselves at His footstool.
Let's go to the place where the Lord lives and bow down at his feet in worship.
8 Arise, O YHWH, to Your rest, You, and the Ark of Your strength,
Come, Lord, and enter your home, together with your Ark of your power.
9 Your priests put on righteousness, And Your pious ones cry aloud.
May your priests wear goodness like clothing; may your faithful people shout for joy.
10 For the sake of Your servant David, Do not turn back the face of Your anointed.
For the sake of your servant David, don't reject the king you have chosen.
11 YHWH has sworn truth to David, He does not turn back from it: “Of the fruit of your body, I set on the throne for you.
The Lord made a solemn promise to David, one he will never cancel—“I will put one of your descendants on your throne.
12 If your sons keep My covenant, And My testimonies that I teach them, Their sons also forever and ever Sit on the throne for you.”
If your sons keep to my agreement and my laws that I will teach them, then their sons will always occupy your throne.”
13 For YHWH has fixed on Zion, He has desired [it] for a seat to Himself,
For the Lord has chosen Zion, wanting to make his home there, saying:
14 “This [is] My rest forever and ever, Here I sit, for I have desired it.
“This will always be my home; this is where I want to live.
15 I greatly bless her provision, I satisfy her poor [with] bread,
I will provide the people of the city with all they need; I will feed the poor.
16 And I clothe her priests [with] salvation, And her pious ones sing aloud.
I will clothe its priests with salvation; and its faithful people will shout for joy.
17 There I cause a horn to spring up for David, I have arranged a lamp for My Anointed.
I will make the line of David even more powerful. I have prepared a lamp for my chosen king.
18 I clothe His enemies [with] shame, And His crown flourishes on Him!”
I will humiliate his enemies, but the crown he wears will shine brightly.”
