< Psalms 129 >

1 A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. Often they distressed me from my youth, Pray, let Israel say:
Faarfannaa ol baʼuu. Israaʼel akkana haa jedhu; “Isaan dargaggummaa kootii jalqabanii akka malee na cunqursaniiru;
2 Often they distressed me from my youth, Yet they have not prevailed over me.
isaan dargaggummaa kootii jalqabanii akka malee na cunqursaniiru; garuu na hin moʼanne.
3 Plowers have plowed over my back, They have made their furrows long.
Warri qootiisa qotan dugda koo qotan; boʼoo isaaniis ni dheeressan.
4 YHWH [is] righteous, He has cut apart cords of the wicked.
Waaqayyo garuu qajeelaa dha; funyoo jalʼootaa gargar kukkuteera.”
5 All hating Zion [are] confounded and turn backward.
Warri Xiyoonin jibban hundinuu, qaaniidhaan duubatti haa deebiʼan.
6 They are as grass of the roofs, That withers before it was drawn out,
Isaan akka marga bantii manaa irraa kan utuu hin guddatin goguu haa taʼan;
7 That has not filled the hand of a reaper, And the bosom of a binder of sheaves.
namichi haamu qabaa isaa guuttachuu, yookaan namichi walitti qabu bissii isaa guuttachuu hin dandaʼu.
8 And the passers by have not said, “The blessing of YHWH [is] on you, We blessed you in the Name of YHWH!”
Warri achiin darban, “Eebbi Waaqayyoo isiniif haa taʼu; maqaa Waaqayyootiin isin eebbifna” isaaniin hin jedhin.
