< Psalms 109 >
1 TO THE OVERSEER. A PSALM OF DAVID. O God of my praise, do not be silent,
E KE Akua a'u i halelu ai, mai hookuli mai oe;
2 For the mouth of wickedness, and the mouth of deceit, They have opened against me, They have spoken with me—A tongue of falsehood, and words of hatred!
No ka mea, o ka waha o ka mea hewa, A me ka waha wahahee, ua hamama mai laua e ku e ia'u; Ua olelo ku e mai lakou ia'u, me ke elelo wahahee.
3 They have surrounded me about, And they fight me without cause.
Hoopuni mai lakou ia'u i na olelo huhu; A hakaka mai lakou ia'u me ka hala ole o'u.
4 For my love they oppose me, and I—prayer!
No ko'u aloha enemi mai lakou ia'u; E pule aku no nae au.
5 And they set against me evil for good, And hatred for my love.
Hookau mai lakou i ka hewa maluna o'u no ka maikai, A me ka inaina no ko'u aloha.
6 Appoint the wicked over him, And an adversary stands at his right hand.
E hoonoho oe i ka mea hewa maluna ona; A e hooku mai ia Satana ma kona lima akau.
7 In his being judged, he goes forth wicked, And his prayer is for sin.
Ia ia e hookolokoloia'i, E puka mai no kona hewa, A e lilo no kana pule i mea e hewa'i.
8 His days are few, another takes his oversight,
E uuku no kona mau la, E lawe hoi kekahi i kana oihana.
9 His sons are fatherless, and his wife a widow.
E makua ole auanei kana poe keiki, A e lilo auanei kana wahine i wahinekanemake.
10 And his sons wander continually, Indeed, they have begged, And have sought out of their dry places.
E kuewa, e kuewa wale aku no kana poe keiki, a e nonoi wale; E imi wale lakou ma ko lakou wahi neoneo.
11 An exactor lays a snare for all that he has, And strangers spoil his labor.
Na ka makee waiwai e kaili wale i kana mau mea a pau, A na na malihini e hao wale i kona waiwai.
12 He has none to extend kindness, Nor is there one showing favor to his orphans.
Aohe mea nana e hoomau i ka lokomaikai ia ia; Aohe hoi mea aloha i kana mau huahaule.
13 His posterity is for cutting off, Their name is blotted out in another generation.
E hookiia kana poe mamo; A ia hanauna aku e holoiia ko lakou inoa.
14 The iniquity of his fathers Is remembered to YHWH, And the sin of his mother is not blotted out.
E hoomanaoia ka hewa o kona poe kupuna imua o Iehova; Aole hoi e kalaia na hewa o kona makuwahine.
15 They are continually before YHWH, And He cuts off their memorial from earth.
E mau loa ana no lakou imua o Iehova; I hookiia ka manao ana ia lakou mai ka honua aku.
16 Because that he has not remembered to do kindness, And pursues the poor man and needy, And the struck of heart—to slay,
No ka mea, aole ia i hoomanao e hana i ka lokomaikai, A hoomaau oia i ke kanaka nele, a ilihune hoi, I pepehi oia i ka mea naau ehaeha.
17 And he loves reviling, and it meets him, And he has not delighted in blessing, And it is far from him.
Me ia i makemake ai i ka hailiili, pela no e hiki mai ai ia maluna ona; Me ia i makemake ole ai i ka hoomaikai, e mamao loa ia mai ona aku.
18 And he puts on reviling as his robe, And it comes in as water into his midst, And as oil into his bones.
Kahiko no oia ia ia iho i ka hailiili me he kapa la, E komo no hoi ia iloko o kona opu me he wai la, A e like hoi me ka aila iloko o kona mau iwi.
19 It is to him as apparel—he covers himself, And he girds it on for a continual girdle.
A e like no auanei ia me he kapa la ia ia, A me ke kaei hoi ana e kaei mau ai.
20 This [is] the wage of my accusers from YHWH, And of those speaking evil against my soul.
O keia no ka uku o ko'u poe enemi mai o Iehova mai, A me ko ka poe hoi e olelo ino mai i ko'u uhane.
21 And You, O Lord YHWH, Deal with me for Your Name’s sake, Because Your kindness [is] good, deliver me.
Aka, e hana mai oe mamuli o'u, e Iehova ka Haku, no kou inoa iho: No ka mea, ua maikai kou lokomaikai, e hoopakele mai ia'u.
22 For I [am] poor and needy, And my heart has been pierced in my midst.
No ka mea, ua nele, a ua ilihune hoi au, A ua houia ko'u naau iloko ou.
23 I have gone as a shadow when it is stretched out, I have been driven away as a locust.
Ua hele aku au e like me ke aka i kona auwi ana, Ua kuehuehuia au me he uhini la.
24 My knees have been feeble from fasting, And my flesh has failed of fatness.
Kulanalana ko'u mau kuli no ka hookeai, A hookii no hoi ko'u kino ma ke kelekele.
25 And I have been a reproach to them, They see me, they shake their head.
Ua lilo wau i mea hoomaewaewa no lakou; Nana mai lakou ia'u, a kunokunou i ko lakou poo.
26 Help me, O YHWH my God, Save me, according to Your kindness.
E kokua mai oe ia'u, e Iehova, ko'u Akua; E hoola mai oe ia'u e like me kou lokomaikai ana.
27 And they know that this [is] Your hand, You, O YHWH, You have done it.
I ike mai hoi lakou, o kou lima keia; O oe hoi e Iehova, ka mea nana i hana ia mea.
28 They revile, and You bless, They have risen, and are ashamed, And Your servant rejoices.
Na lakou e hailiili mai, aka, e hoomaikai mai oe, A ku mai lakou iluna, e hoohilahilaia lakou; Aka, e hoohauoli mai oe i kau kauwa.
29 My accusers put on blushing, and are covered, Their shame [is] as an upper robe.
E kahikoia ko'u poe enemi i ka hoopalaimaka, A e uhi no lakou ia lakou iho i ka hilahila me he holoku la.
30 I thank YHWH greatly with my mouth, And I praise Him in the midst of many,
E mililani nui aka au ia Iehova, ma ko'u waha; A e halelu aku ia ia mawaena o ka lehulehu.
31 For He stands at the right hand of the needy, To save from those judging his soul.
No ka mea, e ku mai auanei oia ma ka lima akau o ka mea hune, E hoopakele i kona uhane mai ka poe hoohewa ia ia.
