< Psalms 105 >
1 Give thanks to YHWH—call on His Name, Make His acts known among the peoples.
Give ye thanks to Yahweh, Call upon his Name, Make known, among the peoples, his doings;
2 Sing to Him—sing praise to Him, Meditate on all His wonders.
Sing ye to him, Make ye music to him, Speak ye of all his wonders.
3 Boast yourselves in His Holy Name, The heart of those seeking YHWH rejoices.
Make your boast in his holy Name, Joyful be the heart of them who are seeking Yahweh.
4 Seek YHWH and His strength, Seek His face continually.
Search out Yahweh and his strength, Seek diligently his face at all times.
5 Remember His wonders that He did, His signs and the judgments of His mouth.
Remember his wonders which he hath done, His portents, and the just decisions of his mouth.
6 O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
O ye Seed of Abraham—his servants, Sons of Jacob—his chosen ones:
7 He [is] our God YHWH, His judgments [are] in all the earth.
Yahweh himself, is our God, Through all the land, are his just decision.
8 He has remembered His covenant for all time, The word He commanded to one thousand generations,
He hath remembered, unto times age-abiding, his covenant, The word he commanded, to a thousand generations;
9 That He has made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,
Which he solemnised with Abraham, and his oath, to Isaac;
10 And establishes it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel—a perpetual covenant,
And confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel, as a covenant age-abiding;
11 Saying, “I give the land of Canaan to you, The portion of your inheritance,”
Saying, To thee, will I give the land of Canaan, As your inherited portion;
12 In their being few in number, But a few, and sojourners in it.
While as yet they were men easily counted, —A very few, and sojourners therein;
13 And they go up and down, from nation to nation, From a kingdom to another people.
And they wandered from nation to nation, From a kingdom, to another people.
14 He has not permitted any to oppress them And He reproves kings for their sakes.
He suffered no son of earth to oppress them, And reproved—for their sakes—[even] kings!
15 “Do not strike against My anointed, And do no evil to My prophets.”
Ye may not touch mine Anointed ones, And, to my Prophets, may ye do no wrong.
16 And He calls a famine on the land, He has broken the whole staff of bread.
Then called he a famine over the land, All the staff of bread, he brake;
17 He has sent a man before them, Joseph has been sold for a servant.
He sent before them a man, For a slave, was he sold—[even] Joseph;
18 They have afflicted his feet with chains, Iron has entered his soul,
They forced, into a fetter, his foot, Into the iron, entered his soul;
19 Until the time of the coming of His word The saying of YHWH has tried him.
Until the time when his word came to pass, Speech of Yahweh, proved him;
20 The king has sent, and looses him, The ruler of the peoples, and draws him out.
The king sent, and set him free, One having dominion over peoples, yet loosed he his bonds;
21 He has made him lord of his house, And ruler over all his possessions.
He appointed him lord to his household, And one having dominion over all he possessed;
22 To bind his chiefs at his pleasure, And he makes his elderly wise.
That he might bind his rulers as he pleased, And, his elders, he might embue with wisdom.
23 And Israel comes into Egypt, And Jacob has sojourned in the land of Ham.
So Israel came into Egypt, And, Jacob, sojourned in the land of Ham;
24 And He makes His people very fruitful, And makes it mightier than its adversaries.
And he made his people exceeding fruitful, —And caused them to become stronger than their adversaries.
25 He turned their heart to hate His people, To conspire against His servants.
He let them turn their heart—To hate his people, To deal treacherously with his servants;
26 He has sent His servant Moses, Aaron whom He had fixed on.
He sent Moses his servant, Aaron, whom he had chosen.
27 They have set among them the matters of His signs, And wonders in the land of Ham.
He set among them his threatening signs, And his wonders, in the land of Ham;
28 He has sent darkness, and it is dark, And they have not provoked His word.
He sent darkness, and made it dark, But they rebelled against his words;
29 He has turned their waters to blood, And puts their fish to death.
He turned their waters into blood, And so caused their fish to die;
30 Their land has teemed [with] frogs, In the inner chambers of their kings.
Their land swarmed with frogs, In the chambers of their kings!
31 He has commanded, and the beetle comes, Lice into all their border.
He spake, and there came in the gad-fly, Gnats, in all their bounds;
32 He has made their showers hail, A flaming fire [is] in their land.
He made their showers—hail, A fire flaming throughout their land;
33 And He strikes their vine and their fig, And shatters the trees of their border.
And he smote their vines, and their fig-trees, And brake in pieces the trees of their bounds;
34 He has commanded, and the locust comes, And the cankerworm—innumerable,
He spake—then came the swarming locust, —The devouring locust, and that without number;
35 And it consumes every herb in their land, And it consumes the fruit of their ground.
And devoured all the herbage in their land, And devoured the fruit of their ground.
36 And He strikes every firstborn in their land, The first-fruit of all their strength,
Then smote he every firstborn in their land, The beginning of all their strength;
37 And brings them out with silver and gold, And there is not a feeble one in its tribes.
Thus brought he them forth, with silver and gold, Nor was there, throughout his tribes, one that faltered;
38 Egypt has rejoiced in their going forth, For their fear had fallen on them.
Egypt rejoiced when they went out, For the dread of them had fallen upon them.
39 He has spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to enlighten the night.
He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire, to give light by night,
40 They have asked, and He brings quails, And satisfies them [with] bread of the heavens.
They asked, and he brought in the quail, —And, with the bread of the heavens, he satisfied them;
41 He has opened a rock, and waters flow, They have gone on in dry places—a river.
He opened the rock, and there gushed forth waters, They flowed along, through parched places, as a river;
42 For He has remembered His holy word, With His servant Abraham,
For he remembered his holy word, With Abraham his servant.
43 And He brings forth His people with joy, His chosen ones with singing.
Thus brought he forth his people with gladness, —With shouts of triumph, his chosen ones;
44 And He gives to them the lands of nations, And they possess the labor of peoples,
And gave them, the lands of the nations, And, of the toil of the peoples, took they possession:
45 That they may observe His statutes, And may keep His laws. Praise YAH!
In order that they might observe his statutes, And, over his laws, might keep watch, Praise ye Yah.
