Proverbs 8

1 Does wisdom not call? And understanding give forth her voice?

١ أَلَعَلَّ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ لَا تُنَادِي؟ وَٱلْفَهْمَ أَلَا يُعْطِي صَوْتَهُ؟

2 At the head of high places by the way, She has stood between the paths,

٢ عِنْدَ رُؤُوسِ ٱلشَّوَاهِقِ، عِنْدَ ٱلطَّرِيقِ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَسَالِكِ تَقِفُ.

3 At the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she cries aloud,

٣ بِجَانِبِ ٱلْأَبْوَابِ، عِنْدَ ثَغْرِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ، عِنْدَ مَدْخَلِ ٱلْأَبْوَابِ تُصَرِّحُ:

4 “To you, O men, I call, And my voice [is] to the sons of men.

٤ «لَكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ أُنَادِي، وَصَوْتِي إِلَى بَنِي آدَمَ.

5 Understand, you simple ones, prudence, And you fools, understand the heart,

٥ أَيُّهَا ٱلْحَمْقَى تَعَلَّمُوا ذَكَاءً، وَيَا جُهَّالُ تَعَلَّمُوا فَهْمًا.

6 Listen, for I speak noble things, And the opening of my lips [is] uprightness.

٦ اِسْمَعُوا فَإِنِّي أَتَكَلَّمُ بِأُمُورٍ شَرِيفَةٍ، وَٱفْتِتَاحُ شَفَتَيَّ ٱسْتِقَامَةٌ.

7 For my mouth utters truth, And wickedness [is] an abomination to my lips.

٧ لِأَنَّ حَنَكِي يَلْهَجُ بِٱلصِّدْقِ، وَمَكْرَهَةُ شَفَتَيَّ ٱلْكَذِبُ.

8 All the sayings of my mouth [are] in righteousness, Nothing in them is contrary and perverse.

٨ كُلُّ كَلِمَاتِ فَمِي بِٱلْحَقِّ. لَيْسَ فِيهَا عِوَجٌ وَلَا ٱلْتِوَاءٌ.

9 All of them [are] plain to the intelligent, And upright to those finding knowledge.

٩ كُلُّهَا وَاضِحَةٌ لَدَى ٱلْفَهِيمِ، وَمُسْتَقِيمَةٌ لَدَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَجِدُونَ ٱلْمَعْرِفَةَ.

10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.

١٠ خُذُوا تَأْدِيبِي لَا ٱلْفِضَّةَ، وَٱلْمَعْرِفَةَ أَكْثَرَ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ ٱلْمُخْتَارِ.

11 For wisdom [is] better than rubies, Indeed, all delights are not comparable with it.

١١ لِأَنَّ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ خَيْرٌ مِنَ ٱلَّلآلِئِ، وَكُلُّ ٱلْجَوَاهِرِ لَا تُسَاوِيهَا.

12 I, wisdom, have dwelt with prudence, And I find out a knowledge of purposes.

١٢ «أَنَا ٱلْحِكْمَةُ أَسْكُنُ ٱلذَّكَاءَ، وَأَجِدُ مَعْرِفَةَ ٱلتَّدَابِيرِ.

13 The fear of YHWH [is] to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, And a contrary mouth, I have hated.

١٣ مَخَافَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ بُغْضُ ٱلشَّرِّ. ٱلْكِبْرِيَاءَ وَٱلتَّعَظُّمَ وَطَرِيقَ ٱلشَّرِّ وَفَمَ ٱلْأَكَاذِيبِ أَبْغَضْتُ.

14 Counsel and substance [are] mine, I [am] understanding, I have might.

١٤ لِي ٱلْمَشُورَةُ وَٱلرَّأْيُ. أَنَا ٱلْفَهْمُ. لِي ٱلْقُدْرَةُ.

15 By me kings reign, and princes decree righteousness,

١٥ بِي تَمْلِكُ ٱلْمُلُوكُ، وَتَقْضِي ٱلْعُظَمَاءُ عَدْلًا.

16 By me chiefs rule, and nobles, All judges of earth.

١٦ بِي تَتَرَأَّسُ ٱلرُّؤَسَاءُ وَٱلشُّرَفَاءُ، كُلُّ قُضَاةِ ٱلْأَرْضِ.

17 I love those loving me, And those seeking me earnestly find me.

١٧ أَنَا أُحِبُّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَنِي، وَٱلَّذِينَ يُبَكِّرُونَ إِلَيَّ يَجِدُونَنِي.

18 Wealth and honor [are] with me, Lasting substance and righteousness.

١٨ عِنْدِي ٱلْغِنَى وَٱلْكَرَامَةُ. قِنْيَةٌ فَاخِرَةٌ وَحَظٌّ.

19 My fruit [is] better than gold, even fine gold, And my increase than choice silver.

١٩ ثَمَرِي خَيْرٌ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَمِنَ ٱلْإِبْرِيزِ، وَغَلَّتِي خَيْرٌ مِنَ ٱلْفِضَّةِ ٱلْمُخْتَارَةِ.

20 I cause to walk in a path of righteousness, In midst of paths of judgment,

٢٠ فِي طَرِيقِ ٱلْعَدْلِ أَتَمَشَّى، فِي وَسَطِ سُبُلِ ٱلْحَقِّ،

21 To cause my lovers to inherit substance, Indeed, I fill their treasures.

٢١ فَأُوَرِّثُ مُحِبِّيَّ رِزْقًا وَأَمْلَأُ خَزَائِنَهُمْ.

22 YHWH possessed me—the beginning of His way, Before His works since then.

٢٢ «اَلرَّبُّ قَنَانِي أَوَّلَ طَرِيقِهِ، مِنْ قَبْلِ أَعْمَالِهِ، مُنْذُ ٱلْقِدَمِ.

23 I was anointed from the age, from the first, From former states of the earth.

٢٣ مُنْذُ ٱلْأَزَلِ مُسِحْتُ، مُنْذُ ٱلْبَدْءِ، مُنْذُ أَوَائِلِ ٱلْأَرْضِ.

24 In there being no depths, I was brought forth, In there being no fountains heavy [with] waters,

٢٤ إِذْ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَمْرٌ أُبْدِئْتُ. إِذْ لَمْ تَكُنْ يَنَابِيعُ كَثِيرَةُ ٱلْمِيَاهِ.

25 Before mountains were sunk, Before heights, I was brought forth.

٢٥ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقَرَّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ، قَبْلَ ٱلتِّلَالِ أُبْدِئْتُ.

26 While He had not made the earth, and out-places, And the top of the dusts of the world.

٢٦ إِذْ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ صَنَعَ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدُ وَلَا ٱلْبَرَارِيَّ وَلَا أَوَّلَ أَعْفَارِ ٱلْمَسْكُونَةِ.

27 In His preparing the heavens I [am] there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,

٢٧ لَمَّا ثَبَّتَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ كُنْتُ هُنَاكَ أَنَا. لَمَّا رَسَمَ دَائِرَةً عَلَى وَجْهِ ٱلْغَمْرِ.

28 In His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,

٢٨ لَمَّا أَثْبَتَ ٱلسُّحُبَ مِنْ فَوْقُ. لَمَّا تَشَدَّدَتْ يَنَابِيعُ ٱلْغَمْرِ.

29 In His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters do not transgress His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,

٢٩ لَمَّا وَضَعَ لِلْبَحْرِ حَدَّهُ فَلَا تَتَعَدَّى ٱلْمِيَاهُ تُخْمَهُ، لَمَّا رَسَمَ أُسُسَ ٱلْأَرْضِ،

30 Then I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight—day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,

٣٠ كُنْتُ عِنْدَهُ صَانِعًا، وَكُنْتُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ لَذَّتَهُ، فَرِحَةً دَائِمًا قُدَّامَهُ.

31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights [are] with the sons of men.

٣١ فَرِحَةً فِي مَسْكُونَةِ أَرْضِهِ، وَلَذَّاتِي مَعَ بَنِي آدَمَ.

32 And now, you sons, listen to me, Indeed, blessed are they who keep my ways.

٣٢ «فَٱلْآنَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْبَنُونَ ٱسْمَعُوا لِي. فَطُوبَى لِلَّذِينَ يَحْفَظُونَ طُرُقِي.

33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not slight.

٣٣ ٱسْمَعُوا ٱلتَّعْلِيمَ وَكُونُوا حُكَمَاءَ وَلَا تَرْفُضُوهُ.

34 O the blessedness of the man listening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the doorposts of my entrance.

٣٤ طُوبَى لِلْإِنْسَانِ ٱلَّذِي يَسْمَعُ لِي سَاهِرًا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ عِنْدَ مَصَارِيعِي، حَافِظًا قَوَائِمَ أَبْوَابِي.

35 For whoever is finding me, has found life, And brings out goodwill from YHWH.

٣٥ لِأَنَّهُ مَنْ يَجِدُنِي يَجِدُ ٱلْحَيَاةَ، وَيَنَالُ رِضًى مِنَ ٱلرَّبِّ،

36 And whoever is missing me, is wronging his soul, All hating me have loved death!”

٣٦ وَمَنْ يُخْطِئُ عَنِّي يَضُرُّ نَفْسَهُ. كُلُّ مُبْغِضِيَّ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَوْتَ».
