Proverbs 6
1 My son! If you have been guarantor for your friend, Have struck your hand for a stranger,
१हे मेरे पुत्र, यदि तू अपने पड़ोसी के जमानत का उत्तरदायी हुआ हो, अथवा परदेशी के लिये शपथ खाकर उत्तरदायी हुआ हो,
2 Have been snared with sayings of your mouth, Have been captured with sayings of your mouth,
२तो तू अपने ही शपथ के वचनों में फँस जाएगा, और अपने ही मुँह के वचनों से पकड़ा जाएगा।
3 Do this now, my son, and be delivered, For you have come into the hand of your friend. Go, trample on yourself, and strengthen your friend,
३इस स्थिति में, हे मेरे पुत्र एक काम कर और अपने आपको बचा ले, क्योंकि तू अपने पड़ोसी के हाथ में पड़ चुका है तो जा, और अपनी रिहाई के लिए उसको साष्टांग प्रणाम करके उससे विनती कर।
4 Do not give sleep to your eyes, And slumber to your eyelids,
४तू न तो अपनी आँखों में नींद, और न अपनी पलकों में झपकी आने दे;
5 Be delivered as a roe from the hand, And as a bird from the hand of a fowler.
५और अपने आपको हिरनी के समान शिकारी के हाथ से, और चिड़िया के समान चिड़ीमार के हाथ से छुड़ा।
6 Go to the ant, O slothful one, See her ways and be wise;
६हे आलसी, चींटियों के पास जा; उनके काम पर ध्यान दे, और बुद्धिमान हो जा।
7 Which has no captain, overseer, and ruler,
७उनके न तो कोई न्यायी होता है, न प्रधान, और न प्रभुता करनेवाला,
8 She prepares her bread in summer, She has gathered her food in harvest.
८फिर भी वे अपना आहार धूपकाल में संचय करती हैं, और कटनी के समय अपनी भोजनवस्तु बटोरती हैं।
9 Until when, O slothful one, do you lie? When do you arise from your sleep?
९हे आलसी, तू कब तक सोता रहेगा? तेरी नींद कब टूटेगी?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little clasping of the hands to rest,
१०थोड़ी सी नींद, एक और झपकी, थोड़ा और छाती पर हाथ रखे लेटे रहना,
11 And your poverty has come as a traveler, And your want as an armed man.
११तब तेरा कंगालपन राह के लुटेरे के समान और तेरी घटी हथियार-बन्द के समान आ पड़ेगी।
12 A man of worthlessness, a man of iniquity, Walking [with] perverseness of mouth,
१२ओछे और अनर्थकारी को देखो, वह टेढ़ी-टेढ़ी बातें बकता फिरता है,
13 Winking with his eyes, speaking with his feet, Directing with his fingers,
१३वह नैन से सैन और पाँव से इशारा, और अपनी अंगुलियों से संकेत करता है,
14 Contrariness [is] in his heart, devising evil at all times, He sends forth contentions.
१४उसके मन में उलट-फेर की बातें रहतीं, वह लगातार बुराई गढ़ता है और झगड़ा-रगड़ा उत्पन्न करता है।
15 Therefore his calamity comes suddenly, He is broken instantly—and no healing.
१५इस कारण उस पर विपत्ति अचानक आ पड़ेगी, वह पल भर में ऐसा नाश हो जाएगा, कि बचने का कोई उपाय न रहेगा।
16 These six has YHWH hated, Indeed, seven [are] abominations to His soul:
१६छः वस्तुओं से यहोवा बैर रखता है, वरन् सात हैं जिनसे उसको घृणा है:
17 High eyes, False tongues, And hands shedding innocent blood,
१७अर्थात् घमण्ड से चढ़ी हुई आँखें, झूठ बोलनेवाली जीभ, और निर्दोष का लहू बहानेवाले हाथ,
18 A heart devising thoughts of vanity, Feet hastening to run to evil,
१८अनर्थ कल्पना गढ़नेवाला मन, बुराई करने को वेग से दौड़नेवाले पाँव,
19 A false witness [who] breathes out lies, And one sending forth contentions between brothers.
१९झूठ बोलनेवाला साक्षी और भाइयों के बीच में झगड़ा उत्पन्न करनेवाला मनुष्य।
20 Keep, my son, the command of your father, And do not leave the law of your mother.
२०हे मेरे पुत्र, अपने पिता की आज्ञा को मान, और अपनी माता की शिक्षा को न तज।
21 Bind them on your heart continually, Tie them on your neck.
२१उनको अपने हृदय में सदा गाँठ बाँधे रख; और अपने गले का हार बना ले।
22 In your going up and down, it leads you, In your lying down, it watches over you, And you have awoken—it talks [with] you.
२२वह तेरे चलने में तेरी अगुआई, और सोते समय तेरी रक्षा, और जागते समय तुझे शिक्षा देगी।
23 For the command [is] a lamp, And the Law a light, And a way of life [are] reproofs of instruction,
२३आज्ञा तो दीपक है और शिक्षा ज्योति, और अनुशासन के लिए दी जानेवाली डाँट जीवन का मार्ग है,
24 To preserve you from an evil woman, From the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
२४वे तुझको अनैतिक स्त्री से और व्यभिचारिणी की चिकनी चुपड़ी बातों से बचाएगी।
25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart, And do not let her take you with her eyelids.
२५उसकी सुन्दरता देखकर अपने मन में उसकी अभिलाषा न कर; वह तुझे अपने कटाक्ष से फँसाने न पाए;
26 For a harlot consumes to a cake of bread, And an adulteress hunts the precious soul.
२६क्योंकि वेश्यागमन के कारण मनुष्य रोटी के टुकड़ों का भिखारी हो जाता है, परन्तु व्यभिचारिणी अनमोल जीवन का अहेर कर लेती है।
27 Does a man take fire into his bosom, And are his garments not burned?
२७क्या हो सकता है कि कोई अपनी छाती पर आग रख ले; और उसके कपड़े न जलें?
28 Does a man walk on the hot coals, And are his feet not scorched?
२८क्या हो सकता है कि कोई अंगारे पर चले, और उसके पाँव न झुलसें?
29 So [is] he who has gone in to the wife of his neighbor, None who touches her is innocent.
२९जो पराई स्त्री के पास जाता है, उसकी दशा ऐसी है; वरन् जो कोई उसको छूएगा वह दण्ड से न बचेगा।
30 They do not despise the thief, When he steals to fill his soul when he is hungry,
३०जो चोर भूख के मारे अपना पेट भरने के लिये चोरी करे, उसको तो लोग तुच्छ नहीं जानते;
31 And being found he repays sevenfold, He gives all the substance of his house.
३१फिर भी यदि वह पकड़ा जाए, तो उसको सात गुणा भर देना पड़ेगा; वरन् अपने घर का सारा धन देना पड़ेगा।
32 He who commits adultery [with] a woman lacks heart, He who does it is destroying his soul.
३२जो परस्त्रीगमन करता है वह निरा निर्बुद्ध है; जो ऐसा करता है, वह अपने प्राण को नाश करता है।
33 He finds a stroke and shame, And his reproach is not wiped away,
३३उसको घायल और अपमानित होना पड़ेगा, और उसकी नामधराई कभी न मिटेगी।
34 For jealousy [is] the fury of a man, And he does not spare in a day of vengeance.
३४क्योंकि जलन से पुरुष बहुत ही क्रोधित हो जाता है, और जब वह बदला लेगा तब कोई दया नहीं दिखाएगा।
35 He does not accept the appearance of any atonement, Indeed, he does not consent, Though you multiply bribes!
३५वह मुआवजे में कुछ न लेगा, और चाहे तू उसको बहुत कुछ दे, तो भी वह न मानेगा।
