Proverbs 4
1 Hear, you sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding.
૧દીકરાઓ, પિતાની શિખામણ સાંભળો, સમજણ મેળવવા માટે ધ્યાન આપો.
2 For I have given to you good learning, do not forsake my law.
૨હું તમને ઉત્તમ બોધ આપું છું; મારા શિક્ષણનો ત્યાગ કરશો નહિ.
3 For I have been a son to my father—tender, And an only one before my mother.
૩જ્યારે હું મારા પિતાનો માનીતો દીકરો હતો, ત્યારે હું મારી માતાની દૃષ્ટિમાં સુકુમાર તથા એકનોએક હતો,
4 And he directs me, and he says to me: “Let your heart retain my words, Keep my commands, and live.
૪ત્યારે મારા પિતાએ મને શિક્ષણ આપીને કહ્યું હતું કે, “તારા હૃદયમાં મારા શબ્દો સંઘરી રાખજે અને મારી આજ્ઞાઓ પાળીને જીવતો રહે.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of my mouth.
૫ડહાપણ પ્રાપ્ત કર, બુદ્ધિ સંપાદન કર; એ ભૂલીશ નહિ અને મારા મુખના શબ્દ ભૂલીને આડે માર્ગે વળીશ નહિ.
6 Do not forsake her, and she preserves you, Love her, and she keeps you.
૬ડહાપણનો ત્યાગ ન કરીશ અને તે તારું રક્ષણ કરશે, તેના પર પ્રેમ રાખજે અને તે તારી સંભાળ રાખશે.
7 The first thing [is] wisdom—get wisdom, And with all your getting get understanding.
૭ડહાપણ એ ખૂબ જ મહત્વની બાબત છે, તેથી ડહાપણ પ્રાપ્ત કર અને તારું જે કંઈ છે તે આપી દે, એનાથી તને બુદ્ધિ પ્રાપ્ત થશે.
8 Exalt her and she lifts you up, She honors you when you embrace her.
૮તેનું સન્માન કર અને તે તને ઉચ્ચ પદવીએ ચઢાવશે; જ્યારે તું તેને ભેટશે, ત્યારે તે તને પ્રતિષ્ઠિત કરશે.
9 She gives a wreath of grace to your head, She gives you a crown of beauty freely.”
૯તે તારા માથાને શોભાનો શણગાર પહેરાવશે; તે તને તેજસ્વી મુગટ આપશે.”
10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life [are] multiplied to you.
૧૦હે મારા દીકરા, મારી વાતો સાંભળીને ધ્યાન આપ એટલે તારા આયુષ્યનાં વર્ષો વધશે.
11 I have directed you in a way of wisdom, I have caused you to tread in paths of uprightness.
૧૧હું તને ડહાપણનો માર્ગ બતાવીશ; હું તને પ્રામાણિકપણાને માર્ગે દોરીશ.
12 In your walking your step is not restricted, And if you run, you do not stumble.
૧૨જ્યારે તું ચાલશે, ત્યારે તારાં રસ્તામાં કોઈ ઊભો રહી નહિ શકે અને તું દોડશે ત્યારે તને ઠોકર વાગશે નહિ.
13 Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she [is] your life.
૧૩શિખામણને મજબૂત પકડી રાખ, તેને છોડતો નહિ; તેની કાળજી રાખજે, કારણ કે તે જ તારું જીવન છે.
14 Do not enter into the path of the wicked, And do not be blessed in a way of evildoers.
૧૪દુષ્ટ માણસોના માર્ગને અનુસરીશ નહિ અને ખરાબ માણસોને રસ્તે પગ મૂકીશ નહિ.
15 Avoid it, do not pass over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.
૧૫તે માર્ગે ન જા, તેનાથી દૂર રહેજે; તેનાથી પાછો ફરી જઈને ચાલ્યો જા.
16 For they do not sleep if they do no evil, And their sleep has been taken away violently, If they do not cause [some] to stumble.
૧૬કેમ કે તેઓ નુકસાન કર્યા વગર ઊંઘતા નથી અને કોઈને ફસાવે નહિ, તો તેમની ઊંઘ ઊડી જાય છે.
17 For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And they drink wine of violence.
૧૭કારણ કે તેઓ દુષ્ટતાને અન્ન તરીકે ખાય છે અને જોરજુલમને દ્રાક્ષારસની જેમ પીએ છે.
18 And the path of the righteous [is] as a shining light, Going and brightening until the day is established,
૧૮પણ સદાચારીઓનો માર્ગ પ્રભાતના પ્રકાશ જેવો છે; જે દિવસ થતાં સુધી વધતો અને વધતો જાય છે.
19 The way of the wicked [is] as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.
૧૯દુષ્ટોનો માર્ગ અંધકારરૂપ છે, તેઓ શા કારણથી ઠેસ ખાય છે, તે તેઓ જાણતા નથી.
20 My son, give attention to my words, Incline your ear to my sayings,
૨૦મારા દીકરા, મારાં વચનો ઉપર ધ્યાન આપ; મારાં વચન સાંભળ.
21 Do not let them turn aside from your eyes, Preserve them in the midst of your heart.
૨૧તારી આંખ આગળથી તેઓને દૂર થવા ન દે; તેને તારા હૃદયમાં સંઘરી રાખ.
22 For they [are] life to those finding them, And healing to all their flesh.
૨૨જે કોઈને મારાં વચનો મળે છે તેના માટે તે જીવનરૂપ છે અને તેઓના આખા શરીરને આરોગ્યરૂપ છે.
23 Above every charge keep your heart, For out of it [are] the outgoings of life.
૨૩પૂર્ણ ખંતથી તારા હૃદયની સંભાળ રાખ, કારણ કે તેમાંથી જ જીવનનો ઉદ્દભવ છે.
24 Turn aside a contrary mouth from you, And put perverse lips far from you,
૨૪કુટિલ વાણી તારી પાસેથી દૂર કર અને ભ્રષ્ટ વાત તારાથી દૂર રાખ.
25 Your eyes look straightforward, And your eyelids look straight before you.
૨૫તારી આંખો સામી નજરે જુએ અને તારાં પોપચાં તારી આગળ સીધી નજર નાખે.
26 Ponder the path of your feet, And all your ways [are] established.
૨૬તારા પગનો માર્ગ સપાટ કર; પછી તારા સર્વ માર્ગો નિયમસર થાય.
27 Do not incline [to] the right or to the left, Turn aside your foot from evil!
૨૭જમણે કે ડાબે વળ્યા વિના સીધા માર્ગે જજે; દુષ્ટતાથી તારો પગ દૂર કર.
