Proverbs 25
1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, that men of Hezekiah king of Judah transcribed:
யூதாவின் அரசனான எசேக்கியாவின் மனிதர்கள் தொகுத்த சாலொமோனின் நீதிமொழிகள்:
2 The glory of God [is] to hide a thing, And the glory of kings [is] to search out a matter.
காரியங்களை மறைப்பது இறைவனின் மகிமை; ஆராய்ந்து அறிவதோ அரசனுக்கு மகிமை.
3 The heavens for height, and the earth for depth, And the heart of kings—[are] unsearchable.
வானங்கள் உயரமாயும் பூமி ஆழமாயும் இருப்பதுபோல், அரசர்களின் இருதயங்களும் ஆராய்ந்து அறிய முடியாது.
4 Take away dross from silver, And a vessel goes forth for the refiner,
வெள்ளியிலிருந்து மாசை அகற்று, அப்பொழுது ஒரு கொல்லன் அதிலிருந்து ஒரு பாத்திரத்தை உருவாக்க முடியும்;
5 Take away the wicked before a king, And his throne is established in righteousness.
அரசனின் முன்னிருந்து தீய அதிகாரிகளை அகற்று; அப்பொழுது நியாயத்தினால் அவனுடைய சிங்காசனம் நிலைநிறுத்தப்படும்.
6 Do not honor yourself before a king, And do not stand in the place of the great.
அரசனின் முன்பாக உன்னை நீயே உயர்த்தாதே, பெரியோர்கள் மத்தியில் இடம்பிடிக்க முயற்சி செய்யாதே;
7 For better [that] he has said to you, “Come up here,” Than [that] he humbles you before a noble, Whom your eyes have seen.
அரசன் உன்னை பெரியோர்கள் முன்பாக சிறுமைப்படுத்துவதைவிட, “நீ மேலே, இங்கே வா” என்று உனக்கு சொல்வது மேலானது. நீ உன் கண்களாலே கண்டதைப் பற்றிச் சொல்ல,
8 Do not go forth to strive, hurry, turn, What do you do in its latter end, When your neighbor causes you to blush?
அவசரப்பட்டு நீதிமன்றத்திற்கு ஓடாதே; முடிவில் உன் அயலான் நீ சொல்வது பிழையென்று காட்டி உன்னை வெட்கப்படுத்தினால் நீ என்ன செய்வாய்?
9 Plead your cause with your neighbor, And do not reveal the secret counsel of another,
அயலானோடு உன் வழக்கை வாதிடும்போது, நீ இன்னொருவனின் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தாதே;
10 Lest the hearer put you to shame, And your evil report not turn back.
அப்படிச் செய்தால் அதைக் கேட்கிறவன் உன்னை வெட்கப்படுத்துவான், உனக்கு உண்டாகும் கெட்ட பெயரும் உன்னைவிட்டு நீங்காது.
11 Apples of gold in imagery of silver, [Is] the word spoken at its fit times.
ஏற்ற நேரத்தில் பேசப்படும் சரியான வார்த்தை, வெள்ளித்தட்டில் வைக்கப்பட்ட தங்கப்பழங்களைப் போன்றது.
12 A ring of gold, and an ornament of pure gold, [Is] the wise reprover to an attentive ear.
ஞானமுள்ளவனின் கண்டனம் செவிகொடுத்துக் கேட்பவனுக்கு அது தங்கக் காதணியும் தரமான தங்க நகையும் போல இருக்கிறது.
13 As a vessel of snow in a day of harvest, [So is] a faithful ambassador to those sending him, And he refreshes the soul of his masters.
நம்பகமான தூதுவன் தன்னை அனுப்புகிறவர்களுக்கு அறுவடை நாளில் உறைபனிக் குளிர்ச்சிபோல் இருப்பான்; அவன் தன் எஜமானின் மனதைக் குளிரப்பண்ணுவான்.
14 Clouds and wind without rain, [Is] a man boasting himself in a false gift.
தான் கொடுக்காத அன்பளிப்புகளைக் குறித்து பெருமையாகப் பேசுகிற மனிதன், மழையைக் கொண்டுவராத மேகத்தையும் காற்றையும் போலிருக்கிறான்.
15 A ruler is persuaded by long-suffering, And a soft tongue breaks a bone.
பொறுமையினால் ஆளுநரையும் இணங்கச் செய்யலாம், சாந்தமான நாவு எலும்பையும் நொறுக்கும்.
16 You have found honey—eat your sufficiency, Lest you are satiated [with] it, and have vomited it.
நீ தேனைப் பெற்றால் அதை அளவாய்ச் சாப்பிடு; அளவுக்கு மிஞ்சிச் சாப்பிட்டால் வாந்தியெடுப்பாய்.
17 Withdraw your foot from your neighbor’s house, Lest he is satiated [with] you, and has hated you.
நீ உன் அயலாருடைய வீட்டிற்கு அடிக்கடி போகாதே; அளவுக்கு மிஞ்சிப்போனால் அவர்கள் உன்னை வெறுப்பார்கள்.
18 A maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow, [Is] the man testifying a false testimony against his neighbor.
தன் அயலானுக்கு எதிராக பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்கிறவன் தண்டாயுதத்தைப் போலவும், வாளைப்போலவும், கூரான அம்பைப்போலவும் இருக்கிறான்.
19 A bad tooth, and a tottering foot, [Is] the confidence of the treacherous in a day of adversity.
துன்ப காலத்தில் உண்மையற்ற நபரில் நம்பிக்கை வைப்பது, வலிக்கும் பல்லைப்போலவும் சுளுக்கிய காலைப்போலவும் இருக்கும்.
20 Whoever is taking away a garment in a cold day, [Is as] vinegar on natron, And a singer of songs on a sad heart.
இருதயத்தில் துயரமுள்ளவனுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சிப் பாடல்களைப் பாடுவது, குளிர்க்காலத்தில் அவனுடைய உடையை எடுத்து விடுவது போலவும், காயத்தில் புளித்த காடியை வார்ப்பது போலவும் இருக்கும்.
21 If he who is hating you hungers, cause him to eat bread, And if he thirsts, cause him to drink water.
உனது பகைவன் பசியாயிருந்தால், அவனுக்குச் சாப்பிடுவதற்கு உணவு கொடு; அவன் தாகமாயிருந்தால், குடிப்பதற்குத் தண்ணீர் கொடு.
22 For you are putting coals on his head, And YHWH gives repayment to you.
அப்படிச் செய்வதினால் நீ அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் எரியும் நெருப்புத் தணல்களைக் குவிப்பாய்; யெகோவா கட்டாயமாய் உனக்கு வெகுமதி அளிப்பார்.
23 A north wind brings forth rain, And a secret tongue—indignant faces.
வாடைக்காற்று நிச்சயமாகவே மழையைக் கொண்டுவருவதுபோல, வஞ்சகநாவு கோபமுகத்தைக் கொண்டுவரும்.
24 Better to sit on a corner of a roof, Than [with] a woman of contentions, and a house of company.
சண்டைக்கார மனைவியுடன் வீட்டில் ஒன்றாய் வாழ்வதைவிட, கூரையின் மூலையில் தனித்து வாழ்வது சிறந்தது.
25 [As] cold waters for a weary soul, So [is] a good report from a far country.
தூரதேசத்திலிருந்து வருகிற நற்செய்தி, களைத்த ஆத்துமாவுக்குக் கிடைத்த குளிர்ந்த தண்ணீர்போல் இருக்கும்.
26 A spring troubled, and a fountain corrupt, [Is] the righteous falling before the wicked.
கொடியவனுக்கு முன்னால் தளர்வடையும் நீதிமான், சேறு நிறைந்த நீரூற்றைப் போலவும் அசுத்தமடைந்த கிணற்றைப் போலவும் இருக்கிறான்.
27 The eating of much honey is not good, Nor a searching out of one’s own honor—honor.
தேனை அளவுக்கதிகமாய் உண்பது நல்லதல்ல, தற்புகழைத் தேடுவதும் மதிப்பிற்குரியதல்ல.
28 A city broken down without walls, [Is] a man without restraint over his spirit!
தன்னடக்கம் இல்லாத மனிதன் மதிலிடிந்த பட்டணத்தைப் போலிருக்கிறான்.
