< Proverbs 24 >

1 Do not be envious of evil men, And do not desire to be with them.
Hlang thae rhoek taengah thatlai boeh. Amih taengah om hamla nai rhoe nai boeh.
2 For their heart meditates [on] destruction, And their lips speak perverseness.
Amih kah lungbuei loh rhoelrhanah te a taeng tih, a hmuilai loh thakthaenah ni a thui.
3 A house is built by wisdom, And it establishes itself by understanding.
Cueihnah neh im a sak tih a lungcuei neh a thoh.
4 And the inner parts are filled by knowledge, [With] all precious and pleasant wealth.
Mingnah loh boeirhaeng neh a kuel a ka, a naep a noi boeih khaw imkhui ah a khawk sak.
5 The wise [is] mighty in strength, And a man of knowledge is strengthening power,
Cueih he tah hlang kah sarhi la om tih, mingnah loh hlang kah thadueng a cong pah.
6 For you make war for yourself by plans, And deliverance [is] in a multitude of counselors.
Caemtloek vaengah nang hamla a niing hang hol vetih, uentonah cungkuem neh loeihnah hang khueh ni.
7 Wisdom [is] high for a fool, he does not open his mouth in the gate.
Cueihnah he aka ang ham tah sang aih. Vongka ah a ka a ong pah moenih.
8 Whoever is devising to do evil, They call him a master of wicked thoughts.
Thaehuet ham aka moeh tah, “Tangkhuepnah boei,” la a khue uh ni.
9 The thought of folly [is] sin, And a scorner [is] an abomination to man.
Anglat kah a tholh khaw khonuen rhamtat, hmuiyoi hlang khaw tueilaehkoi ni.
10 You have showed yourself weak in a day of adversity, Your power is restricted,
Citcai tue vaengah na tahah tih, na thadueng khaw tla.
11 If [from] delivering those taken to death, And you take back those slipping to the slaughter.
Duek sak ham a khuen uh te huul uh laeh, ngawnnah la aka yalh te khaw hloh uh laeh.
12 When you say, “Behold, we did not know this.” Is the Ponderer of hearts not He who understands? And the Keeper of your soul He who knows? And He has rendered to man according to his work.
“Ka ming uh moenih ko he,” na ti cakhaw, amah loh lungbuei a khiinglang tih yakming mahpawt a? Na hinglu aka kueinah loh a ming ta. Te dongah hlang he amah kah bisai bangla a thuung ni ta.
13 My son, eat honey that [is] good, And the honeycomb [is] sweet to your palate.
Ka ca, khoitui tah then tih ca lah. Khoilitui tah na ka dongah didip ta.
14 So [is] the knowledge of wisdom to your soul, If you have found that there is a posterity And your hope is not cut off.
Cueihnah te na hinglu ham ming van lah. Na hmuh atah na hmailong khui vetih, na ngaiuepnah khaw yoe mahpawh.
15 Do not lay wait, O wicked one, At the habitation of the righteous. Do not spoil his resting place.
Halang aw, hlang dueng tolkhoeng ke rhongngol thil boeh, a kolhmuen te khaw rhoelrhak pah boeh.
16 For the righteous fall and rise seven [times], And the wicked stumble in evil.
Aka dueng tah voei rhih a cungku akhaw koep thoo dae, halang rhoek tah yoethae nen ni a tongtah uh.
17 Do not rejoice in the falling of your enemy, And do not let your heart be joyful in his stumbling,
Na thunkha, na thunkha te a cungku vaengah kokhahnah boeh, a paloe vaengah khaw na lungbuei omngaih sak boeh.
18 Lest YHWH see, and [it be] evil in His eyes, And He has turned His anger from off him.
BOEIPA loh a hmuh vaengah a mik lolh vetih, anih taengkah a thintoek te vik lat ve.
19 Do not fret yourself at evildoers, do not be envious at the wicked,
Thaehuet dongah sai boeh. Halang rhoek taengah khaw thatlai boeh.
20 For there is not a posterity to the evil, The lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
Boethae ham a hmailong a khui pah moenih, halang kah hmaithoi khaw a thih pah ni.
21 Fear YHWH, my son, and the king, Do not mix yourself up with changers,
Ka ca, BOEIPA khaw, manghai khaw rhih lah. Aka thovael neh pitpom boeh.
22 For their calamity rises suddenly, And the ruin of them both—who knows!
Amih te rhainah loh buengrhuet a pai thil vetih, amih rhoi kah yoethaenah te ulong a ming?
23 These are also for the wise: [It] is not good to discern faces in judgment.
He rhoek khaw hlang cueih kah a hut ni. Laitloeknah dongah maelhmai loha sak khaw then pawh.
24 Whoever is saying to the wicked, “You [are] righteous,” Peoples execrate him—nations abhor him.
Halang te, “Na dueng,” aka ti nah tah, amah te pilnam loh a tap vetih, namtu loh kosi a sah thil ni.
25 And it is pleasant to those reproving, And a good blessing comes on them.
Tedae amih aka tluung rhoek te hoel ti vetih, a soah yoethennah hnothen loh a thoeng pah ni.
26 He who is returning straightforward words kisses lips.
Langya la olka aka mael tah, a hmuilai te a mok pah.
27 Prepare your work in an out-place, And make it ready in the field—go afterward, Then you have built your house.
Na bibi te vongvoel ah khaw cikngae sak. Anih te a hnukah na lo ah a sikim phoeiah na im te thoh.
28 Do not be a witness against your neighbor for nothing, Or you have enticed with your lips.
Na hui te ahong mai neh laipai la om thil boeh. Namah kah hmuilai neh na hloih a?
29 Do not say, “As he did to me, so I do to him, I render to each according to his work.”
“Kai taengah a saii bangla amah te ka saii van ni, hlang te amah kah bisai bangla ka thuung ni,” ti boeh.
30 I passed by near the field of a slothful man, And near the vineyard of a man lacking heart.
Kolhnaw hlang kah lohma longah khaw, lungbuei aka talh hlang kah misur taengah khaw ka cet coeng.
31 And behold, it has gone up—all of it—thorns! Nettles have covered its face, And its stone wall has been broken down.
Lo pum ah dohui daih tih, canghli ah lota loh a thing. A vongtung dongkah lungto khaw a koengloeng coeng ke.
32 And I see—I set my heart, I have seen—I have received instruction,
Ka hmuh vaengah kai long tah, ka lungbuei ah ka khueh tih, ka sawt vaengah thuituennah la ka loh.
33 A little sleep—a little slumber—A little folding of the hands to lie down.
Bet ip, bet ngam, kut bet a poem neh yalh pahoi.
34 And your poverty has come [as] a traveler, And your want as an armed man!
Te vaengah na khodaeng loh aka cetpaitai bangla, na tloelnah loh photling aka bai hlang bangla ha pawk.
