< Proverbs 23 >
1 When you sit to eat with a ruler, Diligently consider that which [is] before you,
Raha mipetraka hiara-komana amin’ ny mpanapaka ianao, Dia hevero tsara izay eo anatrehanao,
2 And you have put a knife to your throat, If you [are] a man of appetite.
Ka andraso antsy ny tendanao, Raha dia liana loatra ianao.
3 Have no desire to his delicacies, seeing it [is] lying food.
Aza mitsiriritra ny hanim-piny, Fa hani-mamitaka izany.
4 Do not labor to make wealth, Cease from your own understanding, Do you cause your eyes to fly on it? Then it is not.
Aza manasa-tena hanan-karena, Aza entina amin’ izany ny fahendrenao.
5 For wealth makes wings to itself, It flies to the heavens as an eagle.
Moa hampanarahinao azy va ny masonao, nefa tsy ao intsony izy? Fa maniry elatra tokoa izy Ka manidina toy ny voromahery ho eny amin’ ny lanitra.
6 Do not eat the bread of an evil eye, And have no desire to his delicacies,
Aza homana ny mofon’ izay ratsy fijery, Ary aza mitsiriritra ny hanim-piny;
7 For as he has thought in his soul, so he [is]. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, And his heart [is] not with you.
Fa tahaka ny heviny ao am-pony ihany no toetrany: Hoy izy aminao: Mihinàna, misotroa; Kanjo tsy sitrany ianao.
8 You vomit up your morsel you have eaten, And have marred your words that [are] sweet.
Izay sombiny kely voatelinao aza dia mbola haloanao, Ka ho very foana ny teny mahafinaritra nataonao.
9 Do not speak in the ears of a fool, For he treads on the wisdom of your words.
Aza miteny amin’ny adala; Fa hohamavoiny foana ny fahendren’ ny teninao.
10 Do not remove a border of ancient times, And do not enter into fields of the fatherless,
Aza manakisaka ny fari-tany ela, Ary aza manitatra mankamin’ ny sahan’ ny kamboty;
11 For their Redeemer [is] strong, He pleads their cause with you.
Fa mahery ny Mpanavotra azy, Izy no hisolo vava azy amin’ ny adiny aminao.
12 Bring your heart to instruction, And your ear to sayings of knowledge.
Ampiekeo famaizana ny fonao, Sy tenim-pahalalana ny sofinao.
13 Do not withhold discipline from a youth, When you strike him with a rod he does not die.
Aza tsy manafay zanaka, Fa tsy dia ho faty izy tsy akory na dia asianao ny hazo aza;
14 You strike him with a rod, And you deliver his soul from Sheol. (Sheol )
Raha mamely azy amin’ ny hazo ianao, Dia ho voavonjinao tsy ho any amin’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita ny fanahiny. (Sheol )
15 My son, if your heart has been wise, My heart rejoices, even mine,
Anaka, raha hendry ny fonao, Dia ho faly koa ny foko, dia ny foko;
16 And my reins exult when your lips speak uprightly.
Eny, ho ravoravo ny fanahiko, Raha miteny marina ny molotrao.
17 Do not let your heart be envious at sinners, But—in the fear of YHWH all the day.
Aoka tsy hialona ny mpanota ny fonao; Fa matahora an’ i Jehovah mandritra ny andro;
18 For is there a posterity? Then your hope is not cut off.
Fa raha mbola hisy koa ny farany, Dia tsy ho foana ny fanantenanao.
19 Hear, my son, and be wise, And make your heart blessed in the way,
Mihainoa ianao, anaka, ka hendre, Ary ampizory amin’ ny lalana ny fonao.
20 Do not become drunk with wine, Among gluttonous ones of flesh,
Aza misakaiza amin’ izay mpiboboka divay Sy izay fatra-pitia hena;
21 For the drunkard and glutton become poor, And drowsiness clothes with rags.
Fa halahelo izay mpiboboka sy izay fatra-pitia hena; Ary ny fitiavan-torimaso mampitafy voro-damba.
22 Listen to your father, who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she has become old.
Maneke ny rainao izay niteraka anao. Ary aza manamavo ny reninao, saingy efa antitra izy.
23 Buy truth, and do not sell, Wisdom, and instruction, and understanding,
Vidio ny marina, ka aza amidy, Dia ny fahendrena sy ny fananarana ary ny fahazavan-tsaina.
24 The father of the righteous rejoices greatly, The begetter of the wise rejoices in him.
Hifaly dia hifaly ny rain’ ny marina, Ary izay miteraka zaza hendry hanampifaliana aminy.
25 Your father and your mother rejoice, Indeed, she bearing you is joyful.
Aoka ho faly ny rainao sy ny reninao, Eny, aoka ho ravoravo ny reninao izay niteraka anao.
26 Give, my son, your heart to me, And let your eyes watch my ways.
Anaka, atolory ahy ny fonao, Ary aoka ny masonao ho faly mijery ny lalako;
27 For a harlot [is] a deep ditch, And a strange woman [is] a narrow pit.
Fa ny vehivavy jejo dia hady lalina, Ary ny vahiny janga lavaka etỳ;
28 She also, as catching prey, lies in wait, And she increases the treacherous among men.
Eny, manotrika toy ny jiolahy ireny Ary mahamaro ny olona mpivadika.
29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaint? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?
An’ iza ny Indrisy? An’ iza ny Endrey? An’ iza ny fifandirana? An’ iza ny fitolokoana? An’ iza ny ratra tsy ahoan-tsy ahoana? An’ iza ny maso mivoara-mena?
30 Those lingering by the wine, Those going in to search out mixed wine.
An’ izay mikikitra amin’ ny divay, Eny, an’ izay mandeha hanandrana divay voaharoharo zavatra.
31 Do not see wine when it shows itself red, When it gives its color in the cup, It goes up and down through the upright.
Aza mijery ny divay noho ny hamenany Sy ny fanganohanony eo anaty gilasy Ary ny fikoriany mahafinaritra;
32 Its latter end—it bites as a serpent, And it stings as a viper.
Fa amin’ ny farany dia hanaikitra toy ny bibilava izy Ary hanindrona toy ny menarana.
33 Your eyes see strange women, And your heart speaks perverse things.
Koa ny masonao dia hijery vehivavy jejo, Ary ny fonao hieritreri-dratsy.
34 And you have been as one lying down in the heart of the sea, And as one lying down on the top of a mast.
Eny, ho sahala amin’ izay mandry ao amin’ ny ranomasina ianao Sady ho tahaka izay mandry eo an-tendron’ ny andrin-tsambo.
35 “They struck me, I have not been sick, They beat me, I have not known. When I awake—I seek it yet again!”
Nokapohiny aho, hoy ianao, fa tsy reko naharary ahy, Nandalasiny aho, fa tsy tsaroako; Rahoviana ange aho no hifoha mba hitadiavako azy indray?
