Proverbs 22
1 A name is chosen rather than much wealth, Than silver and than gold—good grace.
धेरै धन-सम्पत्तिभन्दा असल नाउँ रोज्नु अनि निगाह सुन र चाँदीभन्दा उत्तम हो ।
2 Rich and poor have met together, YHWH [is] the Maker of them all.
धनी र गरिब यस कुरामा समान छन्, कि दुवैका सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर हुनुहुन्छ ।
3 The prudent has seen the evil, and is hidden, And the simple have passed on, and are punished.
विवेकी मानिसले सङ्कष्ट देखेर आफैलाई लुकाउँछ, तर निर्बुद्धि अगाडि बढ्छ र त्यसैको कारण दुःख भोग्छ ।
4 The end of humility [is] the fear of YHWH, riches, and honor, and life.
विनम्रता र परमप्रभुको भयको इनाम धन-सम्पत्ति, मान र जीवन हुन् ।
5 Thorns [and] snares [are] in the way of the perverse, Whoever is keeping his soul is far from them.
टेडा मानिसहरूको मार्गमा काँढा र पासाहरू लुकेका हुन्छन् । आफ्नो जीवनको रखवाली गर्नेचाहिँ तीबाट टाढै बस्ने छन् ।
6 Give instruction to a youth about his way, Even when he is old he does not turn from it.
बच्चालाई त्यो हिँड्नुपर्ने बाटोमा लाग्न सिका, र बुढेस्कालसम्म पनि त्यो त्यस अर्तीबाट तर्कने छैन ।
7 The rich rules over the poor, And a servant [is] the borrower to the lender.
धनी मानिसहरूले गरिब मानिसहरूमाथि शासन गर्छन्, र सापट लिनेचाहिँ सापट दिनेको दास बन्छ ।
8 Whoever is sowing perverseness reaps sorrow, And the rod of his anger wears out.
अन्याय छर्नेले सङ्कष्टको कटनी गर्ने छ, र त्यसको झोँखको लौरो भाँचिने छ ।
9 The good of eye—he is blessed, For he has given of his bread to the poor.
उदार दृष्टि भएको मानिस आशिषित् हुने छ, किनकि त्यसले आफ्नो रोटी गरिबहरूसित बाँडचुँड गर्छ ।
10 Cast out a scorner—and contention goes out, And strife and shame cease.
खिल्ली उडाउनेलाई बाहिर निकाल्, र द्वन्द्व हटेर जान्छ अनि वादविवाद र अपमान लोप हुने छन् ।
11 Whoever is loving cleanness of heart, His lips [are] grace, A king [is] his friend.
शुद्ध हृदयलाई प्रेम गर्ने र बोलीवचन अनुग्रहमय भएको मानिसको लागि राजा पनि मित्र हुने छ ।
12 The eyes of YHWH have kept knowledge, And He overthrows the words of the treacherous.
परमप्रभुको दृष्टिले ज्ञानमाथि नजर लगाइरहन्छ, तर उहाँले विश्वासघातीका वचनहरूलाई मिल्काइदिनुहुन्छ ।
13 The slothful has said, “A lion [is] outside, I am slain in the midst of the broad places.”
अल्छे मानिसले भन्छ, “बाटोमा एउटा सिंह छ । मलाई खुला ठाउँहरूमा मारिने छ ।”
14 The mouth of strange women [is] a deep pit, The abhorred of YHWH falls there.
व्यभिचारी स्त्रीको मुख गहिरो खाडलजस्तै हो । त्यसभित्र खस्नेको विरुद्धमा परमप्रभुको क्रोध दन्कन्छ ।
15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a youth, The rod of discipline puts it far from him.
बच्चाको हृदयमा मूर्खता जेलिएको हुन्छ, तर अनुशासनको लट्ठीले त्यसलाई टाढा भगाउँछ ।
16 He [who] is oppressing the poor to multiply his [riches], Is giving to the rich—only to want.
आफ्नो धन-सम्पत्ति बढाउन गरिब मानिसहरूमाथि थिचोमिचो गर्ने वा धनी मानिसहरूलाई दिने व्यक्ति दरिद्रतामा पुग्ने छ ।
17 Incline your ear, and hear words of the wise, And set your heart to my knowledge,
आफ्नो कान थाप् र बुद्धिमान्का वचनहरू सुन् अनि मेरो ज्ञानमा तेरो हृदय लगा ।
18 For they are pleasant when you keep them in your heart, They are prepared together for your lips.
किनभने तिनलाई तँभित्र राखिस् भने र ती सबै तेरो ओठमा तयार भए भने यो तेरो लागि रमणीय हुने छ ।
19 That your trust may be in YHWH, I caused you to know today, even you.
तेरो भरोसा परमप्रभुमाथि होस् भनेर आज म तँलाई यी कुराहरू सिकाउँछु ।
20 Have I not written to you three times With counsels and knowledge?
के मैले तेरो लागि अर्ती र ज्ञानका तिसवटा नीति-वचन लेखिदिएको छैनँ र?
21 To cause you to know the certainty of sayings of truth, To return sayings of truth to those sending you.
तँकहाँ पठाइएकाहरूलाई तैँले भरोसायोग्य जवाफहरू दिन सक् भनेर मैले तँलाई यी भरोसायोग्य वचनहरू सिकाएको होइनँ र?
22 Do not rob the poor because he [is] poor, And do not bruise the afflicted in the gate.
गरिबलाई नलुट्, किनकि त्यो गरिब हो, न त खाँचोमा परेकोलाई मूल ढोकामा पेल्ने गर,
23 For YHWH pleads their cause, And has spoiled the soul of their spoilers.
किनकि परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूको मुद्दाको पक्षमा वकालत गर्नुहुने छ, र तिनीहरूलाई लुट्नेहरूलाई उहाँले लुट्नुहुने छ ।
24 Do not show yourself friendly with an angry man, And do not go in with a man of fury,
रिसद्वारा नियन्त्रित हुने मानिसलाई मित्र नबना, र क्रोधित मानिससित सङ्गत नगर् ।
25 Lest you learn his paths, And have received a snare to your soul.
नत्रता तैँले त्यसका मार्गहरू सिक्ने छस्, र तेरो प्राण पासोमा पर्ने छ ।
26 Do not be among those striking hands, Among sureties [for] burdens.
धितोमा आफ्नो हात नहाल् वा अर्काको ऋणको जमानी नबस् ।
27 If you have nothing to pay, Why does he take your bed from under you?
तँसित तिर्ने उपायको कमी भयो भने कसैलाई तेरो खाटसमेत लैजानबाट कुन कुराले रोक्न सक्छ?
28 Do not remove a border of ancient times, That your fathers have made.
तेरा पिता-पुर्खाहरूले खडा गरेका प्राचीन साँध-सिमानाको ढुङ्गो नहटा ।
29 Have you seen a man speedy in his business? He stations himself before kings, He does not station himself before obscure men!
के आफ्नो काममा सिपालु कुनै मानिसलाई तँ देख्छस्? त्यो राजाहरूका सामु खडा हुने छ । त्यो सर्वसाधारणको सामु खडा हुने छैन ।
