Proverbs 21

1 The heart of a king [is] streams of waters in the hand of YHWH, He inclines it wherever He pleases.

۱ دل پادشاه مثل نهرهای آب در دست خداوند است، آن را به هر سو که بخواهد برمی گرداند.

2 Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes, And YHWH is pondering hearts.

۲ هر راه انسان در نظر خودش راست است، اماخداوند دلها را می‌آزماید.

3 To do righteousness and judgment, Is chosen of YHWH rather than sacrifice.

۳ عدالت و انصاف را بجا آوردن، نزد خداونداز قربانی‌ها پسندیده تر است.

4 Loftiness of eyes, and breadth of heart, Tillage of the wicked [is] sin.

۴ چشمان بلند و دل متکبر و چراغ شریران، گناه است.

5 The purposes of the diligent [are] only to advantage, And of every hasty one, only to want.

۵ فکرهای مرد زرنگ تمام به فراخی می‌انجامد، اما هر‌که عجول باشد برای احتیاج تعجیل می‌کند.

6 The making of treasures by a lying tongue, [Is] a vanity driven away of those seeking death.

۶ تحصیل گنجها به زبان دروغگو، بخاری است بر هوا شده برای جویندگان موت.

7 The spoil of the wicked catches them, Because they have refused to do judgment.

۷ ظلم شریران ایشان را به هلاکت می‌اندازد، زیرا که از بجا آوردن انصاف ابا می‌نمایند.

8 The way of a man who is vile [is] contrary, And the pure—his work [is] upright.

۸ طریق مردی که زیر بار (گناه ) باشد بسیار کج است، اما اعمال مرد طاهر، مستقیم است.

9 Better to sit on a corner of the roof, Than [with] a woman of contentions and a house of company.

۹ در زاویه پشت بام ساکن شدن بهتر است، ازساکن بودن با زن ستیزه گر در خانه مشترک.

10 The soul of the wicked has desired evil, his neighbor is not gracious in his eyes.

۱۰ جان شریر مشتاق شرارت است، و برهمسایه خود ترحم نمی کند.

11 When the scorner is punished, the simple becomes wise, And in giving understanding to the wise He receives knowledge.

۱۱ چون استهزاکننده سیاست یابد جاهلان حکمت می‌آموزند، و چون مرد حکیم تربیت یابد معرفت را تحصیل می‌نماید.

12 The Righteous One is acting wisely Toward the house of the wicked, He is overthrowing the wicked for wickedness.

۱۲ مرد عادل در خانه شریر تامل می‌کند که چگونه اشرار به تباهی واژگون می‌شوند.

13 Whoever is shutting his ear from the cry of the poor, He also cries, and is not answered.

۱۳ هر‌که گوش خود را از فریاد فقیر می‌بندد، او نیز فریاد خواهد کرد و مستجاب نخواهد شد.

14 A gift in secret pacifies anger, And a bribe in the bosom—strong fury.

۱۴ هدیه‌ای در خفا خشم را فرو می‌نشاند، ورشوه‌ای در بغل، غضب سخت را.

15 To do justice [is] joy to the righteous, But ruin to workers of iniquity.

۱۵ انصاف کردن خرمی عادلان است، اما باعث پریشانی بدکاران می‌باشد.

16 A man who is wandering from the way of understanding, Rests in an assembly of Rephaim.

۱۶ هر‌که از طریق تعقل گمراه شود، درجماعت مردگان ساکن خواهد گشت.

17 Whoever [is] loving mirth [is] a poor man, Whoever is loving wine and oil makes no wealth.

۱۷ هر‌که عیش را دوست دارد محتاج خواهدشد، و هر‌که شراب و روغن را دوست دارددولتمند نخواهد گردید.

18 The wicked [is] an atonement for the righteous, And the treacherous dealer for the upright.

۱۸ شریران فدیه عادلان می‌شوند وخیانتکاران به عوض راستان.

19 Better to dwell in a wilderness land, Than [with] a woman of contentions and anger.

۱۹ در زمین بایر ساکن بودن بهتر است از بودن با زن ستیزه گر و جنگجوی.

20 A treasure to be desired, and oil, [Is] in the habitation of the wise, And a foolish man swallows it up.

۲۰ در منزل حکیمان خزانه مرغوب و روغن است، اما مرد احمق آنها را تلف می‌کند.

21 Whoever is pursuing righteousness and kindness, Finds life, righteousness, and honor.

۲۱ هر‌که عدالت و رحمت را متابعت کند، حیات و عدالت و جلال خواهد یافت.

22 The wise has gone up a city of the mighty, And brings down the strength of its confidence.

۲۲ مرد حکیم به شهر جباران برخواهد آمد، وقلعه اعتماد ایشان را به زیر می‌اندازد.

23 Whoever is keeping his mouth and his tongue, Is keeping his soul from adversities.

۲۳ هر‌که دهان و زبان خویش را نگاه دارد، جان خود را از تنگیها محافظت می‌نماید.

24 Proud, haughty, scorner—his name, Who is working in the wrath of pride.

۲۴ مرد متکبر و مغرور مسمی به استهزاکننده می‌شود، و به افزونی تکبر عمل می‌کند.

25 The desire of the slothful slays him, For his hands have refused to work.

۲۵ شهوت مرد کاهل او را می‌کشد، زیرا که دستهایش از کار کردن ابا می‌نماید.

26 All the day desiring he has desired, And the righteous gives and does not withhold.

۲۶ هستند که همه اوقات به شدت حریص می‌باشند، اما مرد عادل بذل می‌کند و امساک نمی نماید.

27 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination, Much more when he brings it in wickedness.

۲۷ قربانی های شریران مکروه است، پس چندمرتبه زیاده هنگامی که به عوض بدی آنها رامی گذرانند.

28 A false witness perishes, And an attentive man speaks forever.

۲۸ شاهد دروغگو هلاک می‌شود، اما کسی‌که استماع نماید به راستی تکلم خواهد کرد.

29 A wicked man has hardened by his face, And the upright—he prepares his way.

۲۹ مرد شریر روی خود را بی‌حیا می‌سازد، ومرد راست، طریق خویش را مستحکم می‌کند.

30 There is no wisdom, nor understanding, Nor counsel against YHWH.

۳۰ حکمتی نیست و نه فطانتی و نه مشورتی که به ضد خداوند به‌کار آید.

31 A horse is prepared for a day of battle, And the deliverance [is] of YHWH!

۳۱ اسب برای روز جنگ مهیا است، اما نصرت از جانب خداوند است.
