Proverbs 20
1 Wine [is] a scorner—strong drink [is] noisy, And any going astray in it is not wise.
౧ద్రాక్ష మద్యం ఎగతాళి పాలు చేస్తుంది. సారాయి మనిషిని గిల్లికజ్జాలు పెట్టుకునేలా చేస్తుంది. తప్ప తాగి దారి తప్పేవాడు బుద్ధి లేని వాడు.
2 The fear of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, He who is causing him to be angry is wronging his soul.
౨రాజు వల్ల కలిగే భయం సింహగర్జన వంటిది. రాజుకు కోపం రేపే వాడు తన ప్రాణానికే ముప్పు తెచ్చిపెట్టుకుంటాడు.
3 Cessation from strife is an honor to a man, And every fool interferes.
౩కలహానికి దూరంగా ఉండడం మనిషికి గౌరవం. మూర్ఖుడు కావాలని వాదం పెట్టుకుంటాడు.
4 The slothful does not plow because of winter, He asks in harvest, and there is nothing.
౪నాట్లు వేసే కాలంలో సోమరిపోతు నాగలి పట్టడు. కోతకాలంలో పంటకోసం వస్తే వాడికి ఏమీ దొరకదు.
5 Counsel in the heart of a man [is] deep water, And a man of understanding draws it up.
౫మనిషి హృదయంలోని ఆలోచన లోతైన నీళ్ల వంటిది. వివేకం గలవాడు దాన్ని చేదుకుంటాడు.
6 A multitude of men each proclaim his kindness, And a man of steadfastness who finds?
౬నేను నమ్మదగిన వాణ్ణి అని చాలామంది చెప్పుకుంటారు. అయితే నమ్మదగిన వాడు ఎవరికి కనిపిస్తాడు?
7 The righteous is habitually walking in his integrity, O the blessedness of his sons after him!
౭యథార్థవర్తనుడు తన నీతిలో నడుచుకుంటాడు. అతని తదనంతరం అతని పిల్లలు ధన్యులౌతారు.
8 A king sitting on a throne of judgment, Is scattering all evil with his eyes,
౮న్యాయపీఠంపై కూర్చున్న రాజు తన కళ్ళతో చెడుతనాన్ని చెదరగొడతాడు.
9 Who says, “I have purified my heart, I have been cleansed from my sin?”
౯నా హృదయాన్ని శుద్ధి చేసుకున్నాను. పాపమంతా వదిలించుకున్నాను అని ఎవరు అనగలరు?
10 A stone and a stone, an ephah and an ephah, Even both of them [are] an abomination to YHWH.
౧౦వేరువేరు తూకం రాళ్లు వేరువేరు కొలత గిన్నెలు, ఈ రెంటినీ యెహోవా అసహ్యించుకుంటాడు.
11 Even by his actions a youth makes himself known, Whether his work is pure or upright.
౧౧చిన్నవాళ్ళను సైతం వారి చర్యలను బట్టి, వారి ప్రవర్తన శుద్ధమైనదా, యథార్థమైనదా అనే దాన్ని బట్టి వాళ్ళు ఎలాటి వాళ్ళో చెప్పవచ్చు.
12 A hearing ear, and a seeing eye—YHWH has even made both of them.
౧౨వినగల చెవి చూడగల కన్ను ఈ రెంటిని యెహోవాయే చేశాడు.
13 Do not love sleep, lest you become poor, Open your eyes—be satisfied [with] bread.
౧౩అతిగా నిద్ర పోవద్దు. లేకపోతే దరిద్రం ముంచుకు వస్తుంది. మేలుకుని ఉంటే కడుపు నిండా ఆహారం ఉంటుంది.
14 “Bad, bad,” says the buyer, And then he boasts himself going his way.
౧౪కొనేవాడు నాసిరకం అంటాడు. అవతలికి వెళ్లి దాన్నే మెచ్చుకుంటాడు.
15 Substance, gold, and a multitude of rubies, Indeed, a precious vessel, [are] lips of knowledge.
౧౫బంగారం, విస్తారంగా రత్నాలు ఉన్నాయి. కానీ వివేకంగా మాట్లాడే పెదాలు అమూల్యమైన ఆభరణాలు.
16 When a stranger has been guarantor, take his garment, And pledge it for strangers.
౧౬పరాయివాడికి హామీగా ఉన్నవాడి బట్టలు తీసుకో. వ్యభిచారిణి కోసం పూచీ తీసుకున్న వాణ్ణి బాధ్యుడుగా ఎంచు.
17 The bread of falsehood [is] sweet to a man, And afterward his mouth is filled [with] gravel.
౧౭మోసం చేసి తెచ్చిన ఆహారం మనుషులకు మధురంగా ఉంటుంది. కానీ తరువాత నోరంతా మట్టిగొట్టుకు పోతుంది.
18 You establish purposes by counsel, And with plans you make war.
౧౮ఉద్దేశాలు ఆలోచనచేత స్థిరం అవుతాయి. వివేక పూరితమైన నాయకత్వం ఉన్నప్పుడు మాత్రమే యుద్ధం చెయ్యి.
19 The busybody is a revealer of secret counsels, And do not make yourself guarantor for a deceiver [with] his lips.
౧౯కొండేలు చెప్తూ తిరిగేవాడు ఇతరుల గుట్టు బయట పెడతాడు. కాబట్టి వాగుడు కాయల జోలికి పోవద్దు.
20 Whoever is vilifying his father and his mother, his lamp is extinguished in blackness of darkness.
౨౦తన తండ్రిని గానీ తల్లిని గానీ దూషించేవాడి దీపం కారుచీకట్లో ఆరిపోతుంది.
21 An inheritance gotten wrongly at first, Even its latter end is not blessed.
౨౧నడమంత్రపు సిరి వల్ల చివరకూ దీవెనలు రావు.
22 Do not say, “I repay evil,” Wait for YHWH, and He delivers you.
౨౨కీడుకు ప్రతికీడు తలపెట్టవద్దు. యెహోవా కోసం కనిపెట్టుకో. ఆయన నిన్ను కాపాడుతాడు.
23 A stone and a stone [are] an abomination to YHWH, And balances of deceit [are] not good.
౨౩అన్యాయమైన తూకం రాళ్లు యెహోవాకు అసహ్యం. దొంగ త్రాసును ఆయన ఒప్పుకోడు.
24 The steps of a man [are] from YHWH, And man—how does he understand his way?
౨౪మనిషి ప్రవర్తన యెహోవా వశంలో ఉంటుంది. తనకు జరగబోయేది అతనికి ఎలా తెలుస్తుంది?
25 A snare to a man [that] he has swallowed a holy thing, And to make inquiry after vows.
౨౫తొందరపడి, ఇది దేవునికి ఇచ్చేస్తున్నానని చెప్పడం, మొక్కుబడి చేసిన తరువాత దాన్ని గూర్చి విచారించడం ప్రమాద హేతువు.
26 A wise king is scattering the wicked, And turns the wheel back on them.
౨౬జ్ఞానంగల రాజు భక్తిహీనులను చెల్లా చెదరు చేసేస్తాడు. అలాటి వాళ్ళ మీద బరువైన చక్రం దొర్లిస్తాడు.
27 The breath of man [is] a lamp of YHWH, Searching all the inner parts of the heart.
౨౭మనిషి ఆత్మ యెహోవా పెట్టిన దీపం. అది అంతరంగాలన్నిటినీ శోధిస్తుంది.
28 Kindness and truth keep a king, And he has supported his throne by kindness.
౨౮కృప, సత్యం రాజుకు రక్ష. కృప మూలంగా అతడు తన సింహాసనాన్ని పదిలం చేసుకుంటాడు.
29 The beauty of young men is their strength, And the honor of old men is grey hairs.
౨౯యువకుల బలం వారికి శోభ. నెరిసిన తల వృద్ధులకు సౌందర్యం.
30 Blows that wound cleanse away evil, Also the scourges of the inner parts of the heart!
౩౦గాయాలు చేసే దెబ్బలు మనసు లోతుల్లోకి దూరి చెడుతనాన్ని పరిహరిస్తాయి.
