Proverbs 19
1 Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips—who [is] a fool.
Mejor es el pobre que anda en su integridad, Que el de labios perversos y necio.
2 Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.
La persona sin conocimiento no es buena, Y el que se apresura con sus pies tropieza.
3 The folly of man perverts his way, And his heart is angry against YHWH.
La insensatez del hombre destruye su camino, Y luego su corazón se irrita contra Yavé.
4 Wealth adds many friends, And the poor is separated from his neighbor.
Las riquezas atraen muchos amigos, Pero el pobre es abandonado por su amigo.
5 A false witness is not acquitted, Whoever breathes out lies is not delivered.
El testigo falso no quedará impune, Y el que alienta mentiras no escapará.
6 Many beg the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.
Muchos buscan el favor del generoso, Y todos son amigos del hombre que da regalos.
7 All the brothers of the poor have hated him, Surely his friends have also been far from him, He is pursuing words—they are not!
Todos los hermanos del pobre lo aborrecen, ¡Cuánto más se alejarán de él sus amigos! Los persigue con palabras, pero ya no están.
8 Whoever is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.
El que adquiere cordura se ama a sí mismo, Al que guarda la prudencia le irá bien.
9 A false witness is not acquitted, And whoever breathes out lies perishes.
El testigo falso no se irá sin castigo, Y el que alienta mentiras perecerá.
10 Luxury is not fitting for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.
El lujo no conviene al insensato, ¡Cuánto menos al esclavo tener dominio sobre gobernantes!
11 The wisdom of a man has deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression.
La cordura del hombre detiene su furor, Y su honra es pasar por alto la ofensa.
12 The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And his goodwill as dew on the herb.
Rugido de león es la amenaza del rey, Rocío sobre la hierba su favor.
13 A foolish son [is] a calamity to his father, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
El hijo necio es la ruina de su padre, Y gotera continua las contiendas de una esposa.
14 House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And an understanding wife [is] from YHWH.
Casa y fortuna son herencia de los padres, Pero la esposa prudente es un regalo de Yavé.
15 Sloth causes deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul hungers.
La pereza produce un sueño profundo, Y la persona ociosa pasará hambre.
16 Whoever is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoever is despising His ways dies.
El que guarda el mandamiento, guarda su vida, Pero el que menosprecia sus caminos morirá.
17 Whoever is lending [to] YHWH is favoring the poor, And He repays his deed to him.
El que da al pobre presta a Yavé, Y Él le dará su recompensa.
18 Discipline your son, for there is hope, And do not lift up your soul to put him to death.
Corrige a tu hijo mientras haya esperanza, Pero no se exceda tu alma para destruirlo.
19 A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For if you deliver, yet again you add.
El hombre de gran ira sufrirá castigo, Pero si lo perdonas, lo tendrá que aumentar.
20 Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that you are wise in your latter end.
Escucha el consejo y acepta la corrección Para que seas sabio.
21 The purposes in a man’s heart [are] many, And the counsel of YHWH—it stands.
Muchos designios hay en el corazón del hombre, Pero el propósito de Yavé es el que prevalece.
22 The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And the poor [is] better than a liar.
Lo que los hombres aprecian es la lealtad: Es preferible ser pobre que engañador.
23 The fear of YHWH [is] to life, And he remains satisfied—he is not charged with evil.
El temor a Yavé es para vida, El que lo tiene vivirá satisfecho, Y no será visitado por el mal.
24 The slothful has hidden his hand in a dish, Even to his mouth he does not bring it back.
El perezoso mete la mano en el plato, Pero ni aun a su boca lo llevará.
25 Strike a scorner, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understands knowledge.
Golpea al burlador, y el ingenuo será prudente, Corrige al entendido, y aumentará su saber.
26 Whoever is spoiling a father causes a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.
El que roba a su padre y echa fuera a su madre Es hijo que trae vergüenza y deshonra.
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction—To err from sayings of knowledge.
Hijo mío, deja de oír consejos Que te apartan de las palabras de sabiduría.
28 A worthless witness scorns judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swallows iniquity.
El testigo perverso se burla de la justicia, Y la boca de los impíos encubre la iniquidad.
29 Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
Hay castigos preparados para los burladores, Y azotes para la espalda del necio.
