Proverbs 19
1 Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips—who [is] a fool.
੧ਪੁੱਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਉਹ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਚਾਲ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
2 Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.
੨ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋਣਾ ਵੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
3 The folly of man perverts his way, And his heart is angry against YHWH.
੩ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇ ਚਿੜਨ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
4 Wealth adds many friends, And the poor is separated from his neighbor.
੪ਧਨੀ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਗਰੀਬ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਅਲੱਗ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
5 A false witness is not acquitted, Whoever breathes out lies is not delivered.
੫ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਨਾ ਠਹਿਰੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਝੂਠ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚੇਗਾ।
6 Many beg the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.
੬ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਤਰਲੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਸੱਭੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
7 All the brothers of the poor have hated him, Surely his friends have also been far from him, He is pursuing words—they are not!
੭ਜਦੋਂ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ? ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਹਨ।
8 Whoever is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.
੮ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਮਝ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਭ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।
9 A false witness is not acquitted, And whoever breathes out lies perishes.
੯ਝੂਠਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਨਾ ਠਹਿਰੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
10 Luxury is not fitting for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.
੧੦ਮੌਜ ਮਾਣਨਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਫੱਬਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਉਣਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਫੱਬੇ?
11 The wisdom of a man has deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression.
੧੧ਸਮਝ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੀਮਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਤੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਲੈਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੈ।
12 The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And his goodwill as dew on the herb.
੧੨ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੇ ਗੱਜਣ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਘਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ ਤ੍ਰੇਲ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹੈ।
13 A foolish son [is] a calamity to his father, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
੧੩ਮੂਰਖ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੇ ਝਗੜੇ-ਰਗੜੇ ਸਦਾ ਛੱਤ ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹਨ।
14 House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And an understanding wife [is] from YHWH.
੧੪ਘਰ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਰਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਪਤਨੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
15 Sloth causes deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul hungers.
੧੫ਆਲਸ ਘੂਕ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਸਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
16 Whoever is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoever is despising His ways dies.
੧੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਾਲ-ਚੱਲਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
17 Whoever is lending [to] YHWH is favoring the poor, And He repays his deed to him.
੧੭ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਧਾਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
18 Discipline your son, for there is hope, And do not lift up your soul to put him to death.
੧੮ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਆਸ ਹੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਦੇ, ਜਾਣ ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾ ਬਣ।
19 A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For if you deliver, yet again you add.
੧੯ਡਾਢੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਭੋਗਣ ਦੇ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਵੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਾਰ-ਬਾਰ ਛੁਡਾਉਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
20 Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that you are wise in your latter end.
੨੦ਸਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਬਣੇਂ।
21 The purposes in a man’s heart [are] many, And the counsel of YHWH—it stands.
੨੧ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੇਕ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
22 The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And the poor [is] better than a liar.
੨੨ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਦਯਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
23 The fear of YHWH [is] to life, And he remains satisfied—he is not charged with evil.
੨੩ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
24 The slothful has hidden his hand in a dish, Even to his mouth he does not bring it back.
੨੪ਆਲਸੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਥਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਐਨਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਭਈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆਵੇ।
25 Strike a scorner, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understands knowledge.
੨੫ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਭੋਲਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਦੇ, ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੇਗਾ।
26 Whoever is spoiling a father causes a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.
੨੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾੜ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਿਰਾਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction—To err from sayings of knowledge.
੨੭ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜਿਸ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭਟਕ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਾ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਹੀ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ।
28 A worthless witness scorns judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swallows iniquity.
੨੮ਨਿਕੰਮਾ ਗਵਾਹ ਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਠਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਗਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
29 Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
੨੯ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਲਈ ਕੋਰੜੇ ਹਨ।
