< Proverbs 19 >
1 Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips—who [is] a fool.

2 Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.

3 The folly of man perverts his way, And his heart is angry against YHWH.
A pathunae ni lamthung a payon sak teh, a lungthung hoi BAWIPA ouk a taran.
4 Wealth adds many friends, And the poor is separated from his neighbor.
Hnopai ni huiko moi a sak, hatei tamimathoe teh a hui ni a ceitakhai.
5 A false witness is not acquitted, Whoever breathes out lies is not delivered.
Ka panuekkhaikung kaphawk teh rek laipalah tâcawt mahoeh, laithoe ka dei e hai hlout mahoeh.
6 Many beg the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.
Tami kapap ni bawi e lungyouk hanelah a kâcai awh, poehno ka poe e tami hai tami pueng ni a kamyawngkhai.
7 All the brothers of the poor have hated him, Surely his friends have also been far from him, He is pursuing words—they are not!
Tamimathoe teh a hmaunawngha pueng ni hai a hmuhma, a huinaw natawng teh ahlanae koe doeh hoe ao awh, lawkkanem lahoi a pâlei ei nakunghai hoe a yawng takhai awh.
8 Whoever is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.
Lungangnae ka hmawt e ni hringnae a lungpataw teh, thaipanueknae ka pâkuem e ni hnokahawi a hmu han.
9 A false witness is not acquitted, And whoever breathes out lies perishes.
Ka panuekkhaikung kaphawk teh rek laipalah tâcawt mahoeh, laithoe ka dei e hai a rawk han.
10 Luxury is not fitting for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.
Hringnawmnae heh tamipathunaw hanelah kamcu hoeh, san ni khobawi a uk e heh hoe kamcu hoeh.
11 The wisdom of a man has deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression.
Poukpanueknae ka tawn e ni a lungsaw sak teh, kâtapoenae ka pahnim pouh e teh ama ka bawilen sakkung doeh.
12 The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And his goodwill as dew on the herb.
Siangpahrang lungkhuek e teh sendek ka huk e patetlah ao, hatei a ngaikhainae teh hram dawk ka bawt e tadamtui patetlah ao.
13 A foolish son [is] a calamity to his father, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
Capa ka pathu e teh a na pa hanelah thoenae kaphawtkung lah ao teh, lai ka roe e yu teh tui ka yu e patetlah ao.
14 House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And an understanding wife [is] from YHWH.
Im hoi tawntanae teh napanaw koehoi coe e râw doeh, hatei yu kahawi teh BAWIPA koehoi e doeh.
15 Sloth causes deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul hungers.
Thathoenae ni ihmu a tho sak, ka pangak e teh a vonhlam han.
16 Whoever is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoever is despising His ways dies.
Kâpoelawk ka tarawi e teh a hringnae a ring, hatei ka pahnawt e teh a due han.
17 Whoever is lending [to] YHWH is favoring the poor, And He repays his deed to him.
Tamimathoe ka pahren e teh BAWIPA koe a cawi sak toe, a poe tangcoung e hno hah bout poe lah ao han.
18 Discipline your son, for there is hope, And do not lift up your soul to put him to death.
Ngaihawinae ao navah na capa hah yue haw, a kahma nahanelah pouk hanh.
19 A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For if you deliver, yet again you add.
A lung puenghoi ka khuek sak e ni reknae a kâhmo han, bangkongtetpawiteh, na rungngang nakunghai boutbout rungngang a ngai han doeh.
20 Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that you are wise in your latter end.
Kâpankhainae hah thai haw, cangkhainae hah dâw haw, bangkongtetpawiteh, hmalah na lung a ang han.
21 The purposes in a man’s heart [are] many, And the counsel of YHWH—it stands.
Tami e lungthin ni hno moikapap a kâcai, hatei BAWIPA e khokhangnae dueng doeh kangning han.
22 The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And the poor [is] better than a liar.
Tami ni a ngai poung e teh pahrennae hah doeh, laithoe dei e hlak mathoe e ahawihnawn.
23 The fear of YHWH [is] to life, And he remains satisfied—he is not charged with evil.
BAWIPA takinae ni hringnae koe lah a ceikhai, hote hringnae ka tawn e teh a lung a kuep vaiteh, hnokathout ni thosin mahoeh.
24 The slothful has hidden his hand in a dish, Even to his mouth he does not bring it back.
Tami ka pangak ni a kut a kâyap teh rawca a kâtu hane boehai ngai hoeh.
25 Strike a scorner, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understands knowledge.
Ka dudam e tami hah hem haw, kamawngrame tami teh a kâhlaw yawkaw han doeh, a lungkaang e tami hah yue haw patopatang han
26 Whoever is spoiling a father causes a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.
Na pa roedeng ka poe ni teh manu ka hrek e teh, yeiraiponae hoi min mathoenae ka phawt e capa doeh.
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction—To err from sayings of knowledge.
Ka capa cangkhainae thai e heh na kâhat payon pawiteh, lungangnae lamthung na phen han doeh.
28 A worthless witness scorns judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swallows iniquity.
Cungkeihoehe kapanuekkhaikung ni lawkcengnae kalan a dudam teh, tamikathout e pahni ni payonpakainae a payawp.
29 Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
