< Proverbs 19 >

1 Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips—who [is] a fool.
Lok kangkoih ah apae thaih kamthu pongah loe, toenghaih loklam pazui amtang kami to hoih kue.
2 Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.
Kahoih ai poekhaih loe, panoekhaih tawn ai; tawt hoi khok takan kami loe loklam caeh pazae.
3 The folly of man perverts his way, And his heart is angry against YHWH.
Kami amthuhaih mah a caehhaih loklam to amkhraengsak moe, palung thung hoiah Angraeng to kasae a thuih.
4 Wealth adds many friends, And the poor is separated from his neighbor.
Hmuenmae angraeng kami loe ampui tawnh mang; toe kamtang loe a imtaeng kami mah doeh caehtaak.
5 A false witness is not acquitted, Whoever breathes out lies is not delivered.
Amsoem ai hmuen hnukung ah om kami loe danpaek ai ah om mak ai; amsawnlok thui kami doeh loih mak ai.
6 Many beg the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.
Pop parai kaminawk loe ukkung palung anghoehaih to sak hanah koeh o; tangqum paek thaih kami loe kami boih hoiah ampui ah oh.
7 All the brothers of the poor have hated him, Surely his friends have also been far from him, He is pursuing words—they are not!
Amtang kami loe angmah ih nawkamyanawk mah doeh hnukma o; angmah ih ampuinawk mah cae loe kawkruk maw ayae o taak tih! Anih loe tahmenhaih hnik hanah nihcae hnukah patom, toe nihcae mah anghmat o taak boih.
8 Whoever is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.
Palunghahaih tawn kami loe a hinghaih to palung; panoekhaih amtuk kami loe khosak hoihaih to hnu tih.
9 A false witness is not acquitted, And whoever breathes out lies perishes.
Amsoem ai hmuen hnukungah om kami loe danpaek ai ah om mak ai; amsawnlok thui kami loe amro tih.
10 Luxury is not fitting for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.
Kamthu loe kahnaep ah khosak han krah ai; tamna mah angraengnawk uk hanah krah ai.
11 The wisdom of a man has deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression.
Palungha kami loe palungphuihaih to pauep thaih; minawk sakpazaehaih tahmen kami loe lensawkhaih to tawnh.
12 The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And his goodwill as dew on the herb.
Siangpahrang palungphuihaih loe kahang kaipui baktiah oh moe, anih hoihhaih loe phroh nui ih dantui baktiah oh.
13 A foolish son [is] a calamity to his father, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
Caa kamthu loe ampa amrohaih ah oh, angzoeh koeh zu loe apet ai ah kaca tui baktiah oh.
14 House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And an understanding wife [is] from YHWH.
Im hoi hmuenmae loe ampa ih qawk ah oh; toe palungha zu loe Angraeng khae hoi hak ih qawk ni.
15 Sloth causes deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul hungers.
Thasae kami loe iih sawk, thasae kami pakhra loe zok amthlam tih.
16 Whoever is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoever is despising His ways dies.
Thuitaekhaih lok tahngai kami loe hinglung sawk; toe a caehhaih loklam patoek kami loe dueh tih.
17 Whoever is lending [to] YHWH is favoring the poor, And He repays his deed to him.
Amtang khenzawn kami loe Angraeng hanah hmuen coi pae baktiah ni oh; anih loe a sak ih hmuen baktiah atho hnu let tih.
18 Discipline your son, for there is hope, And do not lift up your soul to put him to death.
Thuitaek thaih koiah oh naah, na caa to thuitaek ah; anih qahhaih to tahmen hmah.
19 A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For if you deliver, yet again you add.
Palungphui kami loe danpaekhaih to hnu tih; anih to na pahlong nahaeloe, anih to na pahlong tuektuek han angai tih.
20 Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that you are wise in your latter end.
Thuitaekhaih lok to tahngai ah loe, patukhaih lok to talawk ah, to tiah nahaeloe atue boeng naah palung na ha tih.
21 The purposes in a man’s heart [are] many, And the counsel of YHWH—it stands.
Kami ih palung thungah sak atimhaih oh mangh; toe Angraeng khokhanhaih mah ni sak atimhaih to caksak tih.
22 The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And the poor [is] better than a liar.
Boeng thai ai amlunghaih loe kami mah koeh ih hmuen ah oh; amtang kami loe lok amlai kami pongah hoih kue.
23 The fear of YHWH [is] to life, And he remains satisfied—he is not charged with evil.
Angraeng zithaih loe hinghaih ah oh; to tiah poekhaih tawn kami loe koehhaih to acung tih; raihaih tidoeh tongh mak ai.
24 The slothful has hidden his hand in a dish, Even to his mouth he does not bring it back.
Thasae kami loe saoek nui hoiah a ban to azuh moe, buh abah han mataeng doeh paqak.
25 Strike a scorner, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understands knowledge.
Minawk tiah doeh sah ai kami to danpaek ah, poekhaih tawn ai kami to palungha lat tih; khopoek thaih kami to zoeh ah, palungha aep tih.
26 Whoever is spoiling a father causes a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.
Ampa ih hmuenmae to pasaengh boih moe, amno to haek kami loe, azathaih paek capa, kasaethuihaih tongsak capa ah oh.
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction—To err from sayings of knowledge.
Ka capa, thuitaekhaih lok to tahngai ai ah na oh nahaeloe, thuitaek ih panoekhaih loknawk hoiah nam khraeng ving tih.
28 A worthless witness scorns judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swallows iniquity.
Lok amlai kami han hnukungah om kami loe, katoengah lokcaekhaih tiah doeh sah ai kami ah oh; kahoih ai kami loe kahoih ai hmuen to kakhraem caaknaek baktiah a caak.
29 Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
Kami tiah doeh sah ai kami hanah danpaekhaih to oh, kamthu hanah loe bohhaih to oh.
