< Proverbs 16 >

1 Arrangements of the heart [are] of man, An answer of the tongue from YHWH.

2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, And YHWH is pondering the spirits.
Hlang kah a longpuei boeih he amah mikhmuh ah khui dae, BOEIPA long tah a mueihla ni a khiinglang pah.
3 Roll your works to YHWH, And your purposes are established,
Na bibi te BOEIPA taengah hal lamtah, na kopoek cikngae bitni.
4 YHWH has worked all things for Himself, And also the wicked—for a day of evil.
Soeprhaep boeih he amah kah a hlatnah ham BOEIPA loh a saii. Te dongah halang pataeng yoethae hnin kah ham a hlun.
5 Every proud one of heart [is] an abomination to YHWH, Hand to hand—he is not acquitted.
Kut neh kut hlaengtang tih lungbuei aka oek boeih BOEIPA kah a tueilaehkoi la a om dongah hmil mahpawh.
6 Iniquity is pardoned in kindness and truth, And in the fear of YHWH Turn aside from evil.
Sitlohnah neh oltak loh thaesainah a dawth tih, BOEIPA hinyahnah loh boethae lamkah a nong sak.
7 When a man’s ways please YHWH, even his enemies, He causes to be at peace with him.
Hlang kah khosing te BOEIPA loh a moeithen vaengah a thunkha rhoek pataeng amah taengah a rhong sak.
8 Better [is] a little with righteousness, Than abundance of increase without justice.
Duengnah neh yol mai cakhaw, a tiktam mueh canghum cangpai lakah then.
9 The heart of man devises his way, And YHWH establishes his step.
Hlang kah lungbuei loh amah longpuei te a moeh tih, BOEIPA loh a khokan a cikngae sak.
10 An oath [is] on the lips of a king, In judgment his mouth does not trespass.
Manghai ka dongkah bihma tah laitloeknah ham ni, te dongah a ka vikvawk boel saeh.
11 A just beam and balances [are] YHWH’s, All the stones of the bag [are] His work.
Tiktamnah cooi neh coilung tah BOEIPA taeng lamkah ni, sungsa coilung boeih khaw amah kah a bibi ni.
12 Doing wickedness [is] an abomination to kings, For a throne is established by righteousness.
Duengnah loh ngolkhoel a cikngae sak dongah, manghai rhoek loh halangnah a saii ham tah tueilaehkoi la om.
13 Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings, And he loves whoever is speaking uprightly,
Duengnah hmuilai tah manghai rhoek kah kolonah om tih, a thuem aka thui te a lungnah.
14 The fury of a king [is] messengers of death, And a wise man pacifies it.
Manghai kah kosi tah dueknah puencawn ni. Te dongah hlang cueih long ni kosi a daeh sak thai eh.
15 In the light of a king’s face [is] life, And his goodwill [is] as a cloud of the spring rain.
Manghai kah maelhmai khosae dongah hingnah tih, a kolonah tah tlankhol vaengkah khomai banghui ni.
16 To get wisdom—how much better than gold, And to get understanding—to be chosen [more] than silver!
Cueihnah lai he sui lakah bahoeng then tih, yakmingnah lai he khaw tangka n'tuek lakah then.
17 A highway of the upright [is] to turn from evil, Whoever is preserving his soul is watching his way.
Boethae lamloh aka nong hamla a thuem longpuei om tih, a hinglu aka ngaithuen loh a longpuei a kueinah.
18 Pride [is] before destruction, And before stumbling—a haughty spirit.
Pocinah kah a hmaiah hoemdamnah om tih, cungkunah kah a hmaiah ah mueihla oeknah a lamhma pah.
19 Better is humility of spirit with the poor, Than to apportion spoil with the proud.
Thinthah neh kutbuem n'tael lakah kodo mangdaeng neh mueihla kunyun te then.
20 The wise in any matter finds good, And whoever is trusting in YHWH, O his blessedness.
Olka neh aka cangbam long tah hnothen a dang tih, BOEIPA dongah aka pangtung tah a yoethen pai.
21 For the wise in heart is called intelligent, And sweetness of lips increases learning.
Lungbuei aka cueih te aka yakming la a khue uh tih, hmuilai dongkah olding loh rhingtuknah a thap.
22 Understanding [is] a fountain of life to its possessors, The instruction of fools is folly.
Lungmingnah te a kungmah la aka khueh long tah hingnah thunsih la om tih, aka ang rhoek kah thuituennah tah anglat la poeh.
23 The heart of the wise causes his mouth to act wisely, And he increases learning by his lips,
Aka cueih kah lungbuei tah a ka a cangbam tih, a hmuilai dongah rhingtuknah a thap.
24 Sayings of pleasantness [are] a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and healing to the bone.
Ol then tah, hinglu ham khoitui khoitak bangla didip tih, rhuh hamla hoeihnah la om.
25 There is a way right before a man, And its latter end—ways of death.
Hlang mikhmuh ah longpuei te thuem dae a hmailong ah dueknah longpuei la om.
26 A laboring man has labored for himself, For his mouth has caused [him] to bend over it.
Thakthaekung kah a hinglu loh amah hamla thakthae tih a ka te a kamcah sak.
27 A worthless man is preparing evil, And on his lips [is] as a burning fire.
Hlang muen loh boethae a vueh tih, a hmuilai dongah hmai bangla rhangto.
28 A contrary man sends forth contention, A tale-bearer is separating a familiar friend.
Calaak hlang loh olpungkacan a haeh tih, hlang aka thet loh boeihlum a pamhma sak.
29 A violent man entices his neighbor, And causes him to go in a way [that is] not good.
Kuthlahnah hlang loh a hui a hloeh tih, longpuei a then pawt la a caeh puei.
30 Consulting his eyes to devise contrary things, Moving his lips he has accomplished evil.
Calaak te moeh hamla a mik aka him tih, a hmui saibaeh loh boethae a cung sak.
31 Grey hairs [are] a crown of beauty, It is found in the way of righteousness.
Sampok he boeimang rhuisam la om tih, duengnah longpuei kah aka om loh a dang.
32 Better [is] the [one] slow to anger than the mighty, And the ruler over his spirit than he who is taking a city.
Thintoek aka ueh tah hlangrhalh lakah, a mueihla aka taem khaw khopuei aka ta lakah then.
33 The lot is cast into the center, And all its judgment [is] from YHWH!
A rhang dongah hmulung khoh cakhaw a laitloeknah boeih tah BOEIPA lamkah ni a om.
