1 A wise son—the instruction of a father, And a scorner—he has not heard rebuke.
Chapa ching chun anu le apan ahilna angaijin, miduhdah lou vang chu min aphona jong iman-agel jipoi.
2 A man eats good from the fruit of the mouth, And the soul of the treacherous—violence.
Chihna kamcheng in an-pha akimu thei jin, jou le nal jenga thuseipan vang pumthoa mu ding bou agel in ahi.
3 Whoever is keeping his mouth, is keeping his soul, Whoever is opening wide his lips—ruin to him!
Alei kituh tang joupa chu kihinso tei ding, koi hileh alei tuhtang thei lou chu mangthah tei ding ahi.
4 The soul of the slothful is desiring, and does not have. And the soul of the diligent is made fat.
Mithase hon nehding tampi angaicha jiuvin, hinlah miching in nehding lungkim sel-in amujin ahi.
5 The righteous hates a false word, And the wicked causes abhorrence, and is confounded.
Mikitah in jousei abol ngaipon, mikitah lou vang chun jumna le ngailutna beijin na-atongdoh jin ahi.
6 Righteousness keeps him who is perfect in the way, And wickedness overthrows a sin offering.
Mikitah chu adihna jal in ahoidoh jin, miphalou vang chu chonsetnan apui mangthah jitai.
7 There is [he] who is making himself rich, and has nothing, Who is making himself poor, and wealth [is] abundant.
Mi kimkhat chu hao akisah lheh jin, hinlah ima aneideh poi. Mi kimkhatma chu akivai chatsah lheh jin, hinlah nei le gou kimsel-in aneiyin ahi.
8 The ransom of a man’s life [are] his riches, And the poor has not heard rebuke.
Mihem khat chun anei le agou jal'a ahinkho akilhatdoh ahin, hinlah mivaicha ding in kilhatdoh jouna aum jipoi.
9 The light of the righteous rejoices, And the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
Mikitah chu thaomei bang in avah jing in, miphaloute thaomei vang hetman louva mit ding ahi.
10 A vain man causes debate through pride, And wisdom [is] with the counseled.
Kiletsahna jeh'in thungai loute akitoh thei jipon, kineosah a min ahilna kisante ding in vang chihna ahi.
11 Wealth from vanity becomes little, And whoever is gathering by the hand becomes great.
Gangtah'a kimu nei le gou chu hetman louva bei ding, nei le gou kholkhom lelepa-a vang chu tam cheh cheh ding ahi.
12 Hope prolonged is making the heart sick, And a tree of life [is] the coming desire.
Kinepna bang aso-lou teng, mihem lungthim atongkha jin, hinlah lungtup molsona chu hin-thingphung banga hing jing ding ahi.
13 Whoever is despising the word is destroyed for it, And whoever is fearing the command is repaid.
Min ahilna ngainom loupa chunga manthahna lhung ding, koi hileh thupeh ngaisanga chu kipaman chang tei ding ahi.
14 The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
Miching mihilna chu hinna twinah tobang ahin, hitobang kihilna sang chan chun thina apeldoh teidiu ahi.
15 Good understanding gives grace, And the way of the treacherous [is] hard.
Lungdih kiti hin thilpha atongdoh jin, kitahna beihel mi vang chu mangthah ding ahi.
16 Every prudent one deals with knowledge, And a fool spreads out folly.
Miching ho chun akalson masang in ageltoh masa jin, mingol hon vang geltoh masa louvin, angolnau atah lang jiuvin ahi.
17 A wicked messenger falls into evil, And a faithful ambassador is healing.
Thupole miphalou chun miho lunggim hesoh alhut peh jin, ngansena chang tahsan um mi vang chun lungdamna jeng alhut jin ahi.
18 Whoever is refusing instruction—poverty and shame, And whoever is observing reproof is honored.
Seingai loupa chunga chun gentheina le vetsetna alhung jin, min ahilna chan ngaipa vang chu jabolna chang tei ding ahi.
19 A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, And an abomination to fools [Is] to turn from evil.
Ngaichat khat toh molso nahi hinkhoa dinga lungkimna ahin, hinlah thilse jamsan ding hi mingol hon athet jiuvin ahi.
20 Whoever is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffers evil.
Miching toh kivop chu aching in, mingol toh kivoppan vang setna ato tei ding ahi.
21 Evil pursues sinners, And good repays the righteous.
Chonseho chu setna ajui jiuvin, mikitah te vang chu phatthei nan ajui jing un ahi.
22 A good man causes sons’ sons to inherit, And the sinner’s wealth [is] laid up for the righteous.
Mipha chun atute khang geija din gou adalhah peh jin, chonseten akhol nei le gou vang chu michonpha ho ding ahibouve.
23 Abundance of food—the tillage of the poor, And substance is consumed without judgment.
Vaichaten lou alho teng, neh ding nengchat in akhol khom un, hinlah adihlouva thutan ten achom peh jitauve.
24 Whoever is sparing his rod is hating his son, And whoever is loving him has hurried his discipline.
Achate mol'a jep loupa chun, mol aboh ding nom lou ahin, hinlah achate ngailutna neipa chun lungthim phatah mangchan ahil-jin ahi.
25 The righteous is eating to the satiety of his soul, And the belly of the wicked lacks!
Mikitah chun lung nachim tah'a neh ding anei jing in, hinlah miphalou ho chu gelkel'a oi-thep ding ahiuve.
