< Proverbs 11 >
1 Balances of deceit [are] an abomination to YHWH, And a perfect weight [is] His delight.
False balances are an abomination vnto the Lord: but a perfite weight pleaseth him.
2 Pride has come, and shame comes, And wisdom [is] with the lowly.
When pride commeth, then commeth shame: but with the lowly is wisdome.
3 The integrity of the upright leads them, And the perverseness of the treacherous destroys them.
The vprightnes of the iust shall guide them: but the frowardnes of the transgressers shall destroy them.
4 Wealth does not profit in a day of wrath, And righteousness delivers from death.
Riches auaile not in the day of wrath: but righteousnes deliuereth from death.
5 The righteousness of the perfect makes his way right, And by his wickedness the wicked fall.
The righteousnes of the vpright shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall in his owne wickednes.
6 The righteousness of the upright delivers them, And in mischief the treacherous are captured.
The righteousnesse of the iust shall deliuer them: but the transgressers shall be taken in their owne wickednes.
7 In the death of a wicked man, hope perishes, And the expectation of the iniquitous has been lost.
When a wicked man dieth, his hope perisheth, and the hope of the vniust shall perish.
8 The righteous is drawn out from distress, And the wicked goes in instead of him.
The righteous escapeth out of trouble, and the wicked shall come in his steade.
9 A hypocrite corrupts his friend with the mouth, And the righteous are drawn out by knowledge.
An hypocrite with his mouth hurteth his neighbour: but the righteous shall be deliuered by knowledge.
10 A city exults in the good of the righteous, And in the destruction of the wicked [is] singing.
In the prosperitie of the righteous the citie reioyceth, and when the wicked perish, there is ioye.
11 By the blessing of the upright is a city exalted, And by the mouth of the wicked thrown down.
By the blessing of the righteous, the citie is exalted: but it is subuerted by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Whoever is despising his neighbor lacks heart, And a man of understanding keeps silence.
He that despiseth his neighbour, is destitute of wisedome: but a man of vnderstanding will keepe silence.
13 A busybody is revealing secret counsel, And the faithful of spirit is covering the matter.
Hee that goeth about as a slanderer, discouereth a secret: but hee that is of a faithfull heart concealeth a matter.
14 Without counsels a people falls, And deliverance [is] in a multitude of counselors.
Where no counsell is, the people fall: but where many counsellers are, there is health.
15 An evil [one] suffers when he has been guarantor [for] a stranger, And whoever hates striking hands [in agreement] is confident.
Hee shall be sore vexed, that is suretie for a stranger, and he that hateth suretiship, is sure.
16 A gracious woman retains honor, And terrible [men] retain riches.
A gracious woman atteineth honour, and the strong men atteine riches.
17 A kind man is rewarding his own soul, And the fierce is troubling his own flesh.
Hee that is mercifull, rewardeth his owne soule: but he that troubleth his own flesh, is cruel.
18 The wicked is getting a lying wage, And whoever is sowing righteousness—a true reward.
The wicked worketh a deceitful worke: but hee that soweth righteousnes, shall receiue a sure rewarde.
19 Correctly [is] righteousness for life, And whoever is pursuing evil—for his own death.
As righteousnes leadeth to life: so hee that followeth euill, seeketh his owne death.
20 The perverse of heart are an abomination to YHWH, And the perfect of the way [are] His delight.
They that are of a froward heart, are abomination to the Lord: but they that are vpright in their way, are his delite.
21 Hand to hand, the wicked is not acquitted, And the seed of the righteous has escaped.
Though hande ioyne in hande, the wicked shall not be vnpunished: but the seede of the righteous shall escape.
22 A ring of gold in the nose of a sow—A beautiful woman and stubborn of behavior.
As a iewell of golde in a swines snoute: so is a faire woman, which lacketh discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous [is] only good, The hope of the wicked [is] transgression.
The desire of the righteous is onely good: but the hope of the wicked is indignation.
24 There is [one] who is scattering, and yet is increased, And [one] who is keeping back from uprightness, only to want.
There is that scattereth, and is more increased: but hee that spareth more then is right, surely commeth to pouertie.
25 A liberal soul is made fat, And whoever is watering, he also is watered.
The liberall person shall haue plentie: and he that watereth, shall also haue raine.
26 Whoever is withholding grain, the people execrate him, And a blessing [is] for the head of him who is selling.
He that withdraweth the corne, the people will curse him: but blessing shalbe vpon the head of him that selleth corne.
27 Whoever is earnestly seeking good Seeks a pleasing thing, And whoever is seeking evil—it meets him.
He that seeketh good things, getteth fauour: but he that seeketh euill, it shall come to him.
28 Whoever is confident in his wealth falls, And as a leaf, the righteous flourish.
He that trusteth in his riches, shall fall: but the righteous shall florish as a leafe.
29 Whoever is troubling his own house inherits wind, And the fool [is] a servant to the wise of heart.
He that troubleth his owne house, shall inherite the winde, and the foole shalbe seruant to the wise in heart.
30 The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life, And whoever is taking souls [is] wise.
The fruite of the righteous is as a tree of life, and he that winneth soules, is wise.
31 Behold, the righteous is repaid in the earth, Surely also the wicked and the sinner!
Beholde, the righteous shalbe recompensed in the earth: howe much more the wicked and the sinner?
