Proverbs 10
1 Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son causes a father to rejoice, And a foolish son [is] an affliction to his mother.
૧સુલેમાનનાં નીતિવચનો. જ્ઞાની દીકરો પોતાના પિતાને હર્ષ ઉપજાવે છે પણ મૂર્ખ દીકરો પોતાની માને ભારરૂપ છે.
2 Treasures of wickedness do not profit, And righteousness delivers from death.
૨દુષ્ટતાનો સંગ્રહ કંઈ ભલું કરતો નથી, પરંતુ સદાચારી જીવન વ્યક્તિને મોતથી ઉગારે છે.
3 YHWH does not cause the soul of the righteous to hunger, And He thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
૩યહોવાહ સદાચારી માણસને ભૂખથી મૃત્યુ પામવા દેશે નહિ પણ તે દુષ્ટ માણસની ઇચ્છાઓને નિષ્ફળ કરે છે.
4 Poor [is] he who is working [with] a slothful hand, And the hand of the diligent makes rich.
૪નિરુદ્યમી હાથોથી કામ કરનાર દરિદ્રી થાય છે. પણ ઉદ્યમીઓનો હાથ તેને ધનવાન બનાવે છે.
5 Whoever is gathering in summer [is] a wise son, Whoever is sleeping in harvest [is] a son causing shame.
૫ડાહ્યો દીકરો ઉનાળાંમાં સંગ્રહ કરે છે પણ કાપણીના સમયે સૂઈ રહેનાર દીકરો બદનામી કરાવે છે.
6 Blessings [are] for the head of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked covers violence.
૬સદાચારીના માથા ઉપર આશીર્વાદ ઊતરે છે, પણ દુષ્ટોનું મોઢું હિંસાથી ઢંકાયેલું છે.
7 The remembrance of the righteous [is] for a blessing, And the name of the wicked rots.
૭સદાચારીનું સ્મરણ આશીર્વાદરૂપ છે; પરંતુ દુષ્ટોનું નામ તો શાપિત થાય છે.
8 The wise in heart accepts commands, And a talkative fool kicks.
૮જ્ઞાની હૃદયવાળો આજ્ઞાઓનો સ્વીકાર કરશે, પણ લવરી કરનારો મૂર્ખ પાયમાલ થશે.
9 Whoever is walking in integrity walks confidently, And whoever is perverting his ways is known.
૯જે વ્યક્તિ પ્રામાણિકપણે જીવે છે તે સુરક્ષિત છે, પરંતુ અવળે માર્ગે ચાલનાર ઓળખાઈ જશે.
10 Whoever is winking the eye gives grief, And a talkative fool kicks.
૧૦જે વ્યક્તિ આંખ મિચકારે છે તે મુશ્કેલીઓ વહોરે છે, પણ બકબકાટ કરનાર મૂર્ખ નાશ પામશે.
11 A fountain of life [is] the mouth of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked covers violence.
૧૧સદાચારીનું મુખ જીવનનો ઝરો છે, પરંતુ દુષ્ટોનું મોઢું હિંસાથી ઢંકાયેલું છે.
12 Hatred awakens contentions, And love covers over all transgressions.
૧૨દ્વ્રેષથી ઝઘડા ઊભા થાય છે, પણ પ્રેમ સર્વ અપરાધોને ઢાંકી દે છે.
13 Wisdom is found in the lips of the intelligent, And a rod [is] for the back of him who is lacking understanding.
૧૩જ્ઞાની માણસના હોઠો પર ડહાપણ માલૂમ પડે છે, જ્યારે મૂર્ખની પીઠને માટે લાકડી છે.
14 The wise lay up knowledge, and the mouth of a fool [is] near ruin.
૧૪જ્ઞાની પુરુષ ડહાપણનો સંગ્રહ કરે છે, પરંતુ મૂર્ખનું મોં ઝડપી નાશ નોતરે છે.
15 The wealth of the rich [is] his strong city, The ruin of the poor [is] their poverty.
૧૫દ્રવ્યવાન માણસનું ઘન તેનું કિલ્લેબંધીવાળું નગર છે; પરંતુ ગરીબી ગરીબોનો નાશ કરે છે.
16 The wage of the righteous [is] for life, The increase of the wicked for sin.
૧૬સદાચારી માણસની કમાણી જીવન સાધક છે; પણ દુષ્ટ માણસની પેદાશ પાપકારક છે.
17 A traveler to life [is] he who is keeping instruction, And whoever is forsaking rebuke is erring.
૧૭જે શિખામણનો સ્વીકાર કરે છે, તે જીવનના માર્ગમાં છે, પણ ઠપકાનો ત્યાગ કરનાર ભૂલ કરે છે.
18 Whoever is covering hatred with lying lips, And whoever is bringing out an evil report is a fool.
૧૮જે દ્વેષ છુપાવે છે તે જૂઠું બોલે છે પણ ચાડી કરનાર મૂર્ખ છે.
19 In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, And whoever is restraining his lips [is] wise.
૧૯ઘણું બોલવામાં દોષની અછત નથી, પણ જે પોતાની જીભ પર લગામ રાખે છે, તે ડાહ્યો છે.
20 The tongue of the righteous [is] chosen silver, The heart of the wicked—as a little thing.
૨૦સદાચારીની જીભ ચોખ્ખી ચાંદી જેવી છે; પરંતુ દુષ્ટના હૃદયનું મૂલ્ય બહુ નીચું છે.
21 The lips of the righteous delight many, And fools die for lack of heart.
૨૧નેકીવાનની વાણી ઘણાંને તૃપ્ત કરે છે, પણ મૂર્ખાઓ બુદ્ધિના અભાવે મોતને ભેટે છે.
22 The blessing of YHWH—it makes rich, And He adds no grief with it.
૨૨યહોવાહનો આશીર્વાદ ધનવાન બનાવે છે અને તેની સાથે કોઈ ખેદ મિશ્રિત નથી.
23 To execute inventions [is] as play to a fool, And wisdom to a man of understanding.
૨૩દુષ્ટ યોજનાઓ મૂર્ખોને આનંદ આપે છે, પરંતુ સમજણો માણસ ડહાપણથી આનંદ પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે.
24 The feared thing of the wicked meets him, And the desire of the righteous is given.
૨૪દુષ્ટનો ડર તેને પોતાને જ માથે આવી પડશે, પણ નીતિમાન માણસની ઇચ્છા તૃપ્ત કરવામાં આવશે.
25 As the passing by of a windstorm, So the wicked is not, And the righteous is a perpetual foundation.
૨૫વાવાઝોડું જતું રહે છે તેમ દુષ્ટનું નામનિશાન રહેતું નથી, પણ નીતિમાન માણસ સદાકાળ ટકનાર પાયારૂપ છે.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, And as smoke to the eyes, So [is] the slothful to those sending him.
૨૬જેમ દાંતને કડવું પીણું અને આંખોને ધુમાડો આફત રૂપ છે, તેમ આળસુ પોતાને કામ પર મોકલનારને આફતરૂપ છે.
27 The fear of YHWH adds days, And the years of the wicked are shortened.
૨૭યહોવાહનો ભય આયુષ્ય વધારે છે, પણ દુષ્ટોનાં વર્ષો ઘટાડવામાં આવશે.
28 The hope of the righteous [is] joyful, And the expectation of the wicked perishes.
૨૮સદાચારીની આશાનું પરિણામ આનંદ છે, પણ દુષ્ટોની આશા નિષ્ફળ જશે.
29 The way of YHWH [is] strength to the perfect, And ruin to workers of iniquity.
૨૯જેઓ પ્રામાણિકતાથી જીવે છે, તેઓના માટે યહોવાહનો માર્ગ કિલ્લારૂપ છે, પણ તે દુષ્ટોને વિનાશરૂપ છે.
30 The righteous is not moved for all time, And the wicked do not inhabit the earth.
૩૦સદાચારીઓને કદી ખસેડવામાં આવશે નહિ, પરંતુ દુષ્ટો દેશમાં કાયમ રહેશે નહિ.
31 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, And the tongue of contrariness is cut out.
૩૧સદાચારીઓનું મુખ ડહાપણ પ્રગટ કરે છે, પરંતુ હઠીલી જીભનો નાશ કરવામાં આવશે.
32 The lips of the righteous know a pleasing thing, And the mouth of the wicked perverseness!
૩૨સંતોષકારક અને ઉચિત શું છે તે સદાચારીના હોઠ જાણે છે. પણ દુષ્ટ પોતાને મુખે અવળું બોલે છે.
