Numbers 8
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Le Seigneur dit encore à Moïse:
2 “Speak to Aaron, and you have said to him: In your causing the lights to go up, the seven lights give light toward the front of the face of the lampstand.”
Parle à Aaron, et dis-lui: Lorsque tu auras disposé en rang les lampes du chandelier, les sept lampes éclaireront.
3 And Aaron does so; he has caused its lights to go up toward the front of the face of the lampstand, as YHWH has commanded Moses.
Et ainsi fit Aaron; il alluma, sur une seule rangée, les lampes du chandelier, comme le Seigneur l'avait prescrit à Moïse.
4 And this [is] the work of the lampstand: beaten work of gold; from its thigh to its flower it [is] beaten work; as the appearance which YHWH showed Moses, so he has made the lampstand.
Voilà comme était fabriqué le chandelier: il était d'or inflexible, tige et lis, selon la forme que le Seigneur avait indiquée à Moïse; ainsi avait-il fait le chandelier.
5 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:
6 “Take the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and you have cleansed them.
Prends les lévites parmi les fils d'Israël, et purifie-les.
7 And thus you do to them to cleanse them: sprinkle waters of atonement on them, and they have caused a razor to pass over all their flesh, and have washed their garments, and cleansed themselves,
Voilà comment tu feras cette purification: tu les aspergeras de l'eau de la purification; on passera le rasoir sur tout leur corps; ils laveront leurs vêtements, et ils seront purs.
8 and have taken a bullock, a son of the herd, and its present, flour mixed with oil, and you take a second bullock, a son of the herd, for a sin-offering;
Ensuite, ils prendront un veau parmi les bœufs, avec de la fleur de farine pétrie dans l'huile, pour son oblation; tu prendras encore, parmi les bœufs, un veau d'un an pour le péché.
9 and you have brought the Levites near before the Tent of Meeting, and you have assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel,
Et tu conduiras les lévites devant le tabernacle du témoignage. Là, après avoir rassemblé toute la synagogue des fils d'Israël,
10 and you have brought the Levites near before YHWH, and the sons of Israel have laid their hands on the Levites,
Tu présenteras les lévites devant le Seigneur, et les fils d'Israël imposeront leurs mains sur la tête des lévites;
11 and Aaron has waved the Levites [as] a wave-offering before YHWH, from the sons of Israel, and they have been [consecrated] for doing the service of YHWH.
Aaron les séparera des fils d'Israël, comme une offrande faite au Seigneur; et les lévites seront pour travailler aux œuvres du Seigneur.
12 And the Levites lay their hands on the head of the bullocks, and make one a sin-offering and one a burnt-offering to YHWH, to atone for the Levites.
Ensuite, les lévites imposeront leurs mains sur les veaux, et tu sacrifieras l'un pour le péché, l'autre pour l'holocauste au Seigneur, afin que ce sacrifice leur soit propitiatoire.
13 And you have caused the Levites to stand before Aaron, and before his sons, and have waved them [as] a wave-offering to YHWH;
Tu placeras alors les lévites en présence du Seigneur, devant Aaron et ses fils, et tu les donneras au Seigneur comme offrande.
14 and you have separated the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have become Mine;
Ainsi, tu sépareras les lévites des fils d'Israël, et ils seront à moi.
15 and afterward the Levites come in to serve the Tent of Meeting, and you have cleansed them, and have waved them [as] a wave-offering.
Après cela, les lévites seront introduits pour travailler aux œuvres du tabernacle; c'est ainsi que tu les purifieras, et que tu en feras l'offrande devant le Seigneur, car ils sont l'offrande qui m'est due parmi les fils d'Israël,
16 For they are certainly given to Me out of the midst of the sons of Israel, instead of him who opens any womb—the firstborn of all; I have taken them for Myself from the sons of Israel;
En échange de tous les premiers-nés des fils d'Israël; je les ai pris pour moi,
17 for every firstborn among the sons of Israel [is] Mine, among man and among beast; in the day of My striking every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself;
Parce que tout premier-né, parmi les fils d'Israël, m'appartient, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bestiaux; le jour où j'ai frappé tout premier-né en Egypte, je me suis consacré les premiers-nés d'Israël;
18 and I take the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel.
Et j'ai pris les lévites en échange des premiers-nés d'Israël.
19 And I give the Levites [as] gifts to Aaron and to his sons, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the sons of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the sons of Israel, and there is no plague among the sons of Israel in the sons of Israel drawing near to the holy place.”
Les lévites m'ayant été donnés en offrande, je les ai donnés moi-même à Aaron et à ses fils, afin qu'ils fassent les œuvres des fils d'Israël dans le tabernacle du témoignage, et qu'ils prient pour les fils d'Israël; et nul des fils d'Israël ne s'approchera des choses saintes.
20 And Moses does—Aaron also, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel—to the Levites according to all that YHWH has commanded Moses concerning the Levites; so the sons of Israel have done to them.
Moïse, avec Aaron et toute la synagogue des fils d'Israël, fit donc, au sujet des lévites, ce que le Seigneur lui avait prescrit; et ainsi les fils d'Israël firent pour les lévites.
21 And the Levites cleanse themselves, and wash their garments, and Aaron waves them [as] a wave-offering before YHWH, and Aaron makes atonement for them to cleanse them,
Et les lévites se purifièrent; ils lavèrent leurs vêtements; après quoi, Moïse les donna à Aaron, comme offrande au Seigneur. Ce dernier pria pour eux, afin de les purifier.
22 and afterward the Levites have gone in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting, before Aaron and before his sons; as YHWH has commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they have done to them.
Et, après cela, les lévites entrèrent pour faire leur service liturgique dans le tabernacle du témoignage, devant Aaron et ses fils, comme le Seigneur l'avait prescrit à Moïse; ainsi fit-on pour eux.
23 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:
24 “This [is] who [is] for the Levites: from a son of twenty-five years and upward he goes in to serve the host in the service of the Tent of Meeting,
Voici encore ce qui concerne les lévites: A vingt-cinq ans et au-dessus, ils entreront, pour leur ministère, dans le tabernacle du témoignage.
25 and from a son of fifty years he returns from the host of the service, and does not serve anymore,
A cinquante ans, ils s'éloigneront du service saint; à cet âge, nul lévite n'y sera employé.
26 and he has ministered with his brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to keep the charge, and does not do service; thus you do to the Levites concerning their charge.”
Son frère exercera le ministère dans le tabernacle du témoignage; lui- même ne fera plus rien. Tu règleras ainsi les fonctions des lévites.
