< Numbers 35 >
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,
Lórí pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ Moabu ní Jordani tí ó rékọjá láti Jeriko, Olúwa sọ fún Mose pé,
2 “Command the sons of Israel, and they have given to the Levites cities to inhabit from the inheritance of their possession; you also give [the] outskirt around them, of the cities, to the Levites.
“Pàṣẹ fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láti fún àwọn Lefi ní ilẹ̀ láti gbé lára ogún tí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli yóò jogún. Kí ẹ sì fún wọn ní ilẹ̀ lára pápá oko tútù, káàkiri ìlú.
3 And the cities have been for them to inhabit, and their outskirts are for their livestock, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
Nígbà náà, wọn yóò ní ìlú tí wọn yóò gbé àti ilẹ̀ pápá oko tútù fún ẹran ọ̀sìn, ọ̀wọ́ ẹran pẹ̀lú gbogbo ìní wọn.
4 And the outskirts of the cities which you give to the Levites [are], from the wall of the city and outside, one thousand cubits around.
“Ilẹ̀ pápá oko tútù káàkiri ìlú tí ẹ ó fi fún àwọn ọmọ Lefi, wíwọ̀n rẹ̀ yóò jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rún ìgbọ̀nwọ́ (1,500 ẹsẹ̀ bàtà) láti ògiri ìlú náà.
5 And you have measured from the outside of the city: the east quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the north quarter—two thousand by the cubit; and the city [is] in the midst; this is the outskirts of the cities to them.
Lẹ́yìn ìlú náà, wọn ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì ìgbọ̀nwọ́ lápá ibi ìhà ìlà-oòrùn, ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì ẹsẹ̀ bàtà ní ìhà gúúsù, ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì ní ìhà ìwọ̀-oòrùn àti ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì ní ìhà àríwá, kí ìlú náà sì wà ní àárín. Wọn yóò ní agbègbè yìí gẹ́gẹ́ bí ilẹ̀ pápá oko tútù fún ìlú náà.
6 And the cities which you give to the Levites [are] the six cities of refuge, which you give for the fleeing there of the manslayer, and besides them you give forty-two cities;
“Mẹ́fà lára ìlú tí ẹ fún àwọn ọmọ Lefi yóò jẹ́ ìlú ààbò, tí ẹni tí ó bá pa ènìyàn yóò sá sí. Ní àfikún, ẹ fún wọn ní méjìlélógójì ìlú sí i.
7 all the cities which you give to the Levites [are] forty-eight cities, them and their outskirts.
Ní gbogbo rẹ̀, kí ẹ fún àwọn ọmọ Lefi ní méjìdínláàádọ́ta ìlú lápapọ̀ pẹ̀lú ilẹ̀ pápá oko tútù wọn.
8 And the cities which you give [are] from the possession of the sons of Israel; from the many you multiply, and from the few you diminish; each, according to his inheritance which they inherit, gives to the Levites from his cities.”
Ìlú tí ẹ fún àwọn ọmọ Lefi láti ara ilẹ̀ tí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli jogún, olúkúlùkù kí ó fi nínú ìlú rẹ̀ fún àwọn ọmọ Lefi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ilẹ̀ ìní rẹ̀ tí ó ní. Gba púpọ̀ lọ́wọ́ ẹ̀yà tí ó ní púpọ̀ àti díẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ ẹ̀yà tí ó ní díẹ̀.”
9 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Nígbà náà ni Olúwa sọ fún Mose pé,
10 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,
“Sọ̀rọ̀ sí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, kí o sì sọ fún wọn: ‘Nígbà tí ẹ bá rékọjá odò Jordani sí Kenaani,
11 and have prepared cities for yourselves—they are cities of refuge to you—then a manslayer, striking a person through ignorance, has fled there,
yan àwọn ìlú kan láti jẹ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìlú ààbò fún yín, kí apani tó pa ènìyàn ní àìmọ̀ máa sálọ síbẹ̀.
12 and the cities have been for a refuge to you from the redeemer, and the manslayer does not die until his standing before the congregation for judgment.
Wọn yóò jẹ́ ibi ìsásí kúrò lọ́wọ́ olùgbẹ̀san, kí ẹni tí a fi ẹ̀sùn ìpànìyàn kàn má ba à kú kí ó tó dúró níwájú àwọn ìjọ àwọn ènìyàn ní ìdájọ́.
13 As for the cities which you give, six [are] cities of refuge to you;
Mẹ́fà nínú ìlú tí ẹ ó fi fún wọn yóò jẹ́ ìlú ààbò fún yín.
14 three of the cities you give from beyond the Jordan, and three of the cities you give in the land of Canaan; they are cities of refuge.
Yan ìlú mẹ́ta ní ìhà ti Jordani, kí ẹ sì yan ìlú mẹ́ta ní ìhà Kenaani tí yóò máa jẹ́ ìlú ìsásí.
15 For sons of Israel, and for a sojourner, and for a settler in their midst, are these six cities for a refuge, for the fleeing there of anyone striking a person through ignorance.
Ìlú mẹ́fà yìí yóò jẹ́ ìlú ìsásí fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, fún àjèjì àti ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ń gbé láàrín wọn, kí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá pa ènìyàn ní àìmọ̀ sálọ síbẹ̀.
16 And if he has struck him with an instrument of iron, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
“‘Bí ọkùnrin kan bá fi ohun èlò irin lu ènìyàn tí ó kú, apànìyàn ni, pípa ni a ó pa, apànìyàn náà.
17 And if he has struck him with a stone [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Tàbí tí ènìyàn bá mú òkúta tí ó lè pa ènìyàn lọ́wọ́ tí ó sì fi lu ènìyàn, tí ó sì kú, apànìyàn ni, pípa ni a ó pa apànìyàn náà.
18 Or [if] he has struck him with a wooden instrument [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Tàbí tí ènìyàn bá mú ohun èlò igi ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ tí ó sì lẹ̀ ẹ́ pa ènìyàn, tí ó sì fi lu ènìyàn, tí ó sì kú, apànìyàn ni; pípa ní a ó pa apànìyàn náà.
19 The redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death himself; in his coming against him he puts him to death.
Olùgbẹ̀san ẹ̀jẹ̀ yóò pa apànìyàn náà; tí ó bá bá a, yóò pa á.
20 And if he pushes him in hatred, or has cast [anything] at him by lying in wait, and he dies,
Tí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ń yan odì pẹ̀lú ìríra tí ẹlòmíràn tàbí ju nǹkan sí i pẹ̀lú èrò, tí ó sì kú.
21 or he has struck him with his hand in enmity, and he dies, the striker is certainly put to death; he [is] a murderer; the redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death in his coming against him.
Tàbí pẹ̀lú ìjà gbangba lù ú pẹ̀lú ìkùùkuu tí ó sì kú, pípa ni a ó pa ẹni bẹ́ẹ̀; apànìyàn ni. Olùgbẹ̀san ẹ̀jẹ̀ yóò pa apànìyàn náà tí ó bá bá a.
22 And if, in an instant, without enmity, he has pushed him, or has cast any instrument at him without lying in wait,
“‘Ṣùgbọ́n bí ó bá fi nǹkan gún un lójijì láìṣọ̀ta, tàbí tí ó sọ ohunkóhun lù ú láìmọ̀-ọ́n-mọ̀ ṣe
23 or with any stone with which he could die, without seeing, indeed, causes [it] to fall on him, and he dies, and he [is] not his enemy, nor seeking his evil,
tàbí, láìri, ju òkúta sí tí ó lè pa á, tí ó sì kú, nígbà tí kì í ṣe ọ̀tá rẹ̀, láti ṣe é léṣe.
24 then the congregation has judged between the striker and the redeemer of blood by these judgments.
Àwọn àpéjọ gbọdọ̀ dájọ́ láàrín rẹ̀ àti olùgbẹ̀san ẹ̀jẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìlànà.
25 And the congregation has delivered the manslayer out of the hand of the redeemer of blood, and the congregation has caused him to return to the city of his refuge, to where he has fled, and he has dwelt in it until the death of the chief priest who has been anointed with the holy oil.
Àpéjọ gbọdọ̀ dá ààbò bo ẹni tí a fi ẹ̀sùn ìpànìyàn kàn, kí a sì rán an padà lọ sí ìlú ìsásí tí ó ti wá. Ó gbọdọ̀ dúró níbẹ̀ títí di ìgbà tí olórí àlùfáà bá kú, ẹni tí a fi àmì òróró yàn.
26 And if the manslayer indeed goes out [from] the border of the city of his refuge to where he flees,
“‘Ṣùgbọ́n ti ẹni tí a fi sùn kan bá jáde kọjá ààlà ìlú ìsásí tí ó sá sí.
27 and the redeemer of blood has found him at the outside of the border of the city of his refuge, and the redeemer of blood has slain the manslayer, blood [is] not [reckoned] to him;
Tí olùgbẹ̀san ẹ̀jẹ̀ sì ri ní ìta ìlú náà, olùgbẹ̀san lè pa ẹni tí a fi ẹ̀sùn kàn láìjẹ̀bi ẹ̀sùn ìpànìyàn.
28 for he dwells in the city of his refuge until the death of the chief priest; and after the death of the chief priest the manslayer turns back to the city of his possession.
Ẹni tí a fi ẹ̀sùn kàn gbọdọ̀ dúró nínú ìlú ìsásí títí di ìgbà tí olórí àlùfáà bá kú; lẹ́yìn ikú olórí àlùfáà, ni ó tó lè padà sí ibi tí dúkìá rẹ̀ wà.
29 And these things have been for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.
“‘Wọ̀nyí ni ó jẹ́ ìlànà ìdájọ́ fún yín ní ìran yín tó ń bọ̀, ní ibikíbi tí ẹ bá ń gbé.
30 Whoever strikes a person, by the mouth of witnesses [one] slays the murderer; and one witness does not testify against a person to cause [him] to die.
“‘Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá pa ènìyàn gbọdọ̀ kú gẹ́gẹ́ bí apànìyàn lórí ìjẹ́rìí àwọn ènìyàn. Ṣùgbọ́n ẹlẹ́rìí kan ṣoṣo. Kì yóò jẹ́rìí sí ẹnìkan láti pa.
31 And you take no atonement for the life of a murderer who [is] condemned to die, for he is certainly put to death;
“‘Má ṣe gba ohun ìràpadà fún ẹ̀mí apànìyàn, tí ó jẹ̀bi kí ó kú. Ṣùgbọ́n pípa ni kí a pa á.
32 and you take no atonement for him [who had] to flee to the city of his refuge, to return to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
“‘Má ṣe gba ìràsílẹ̀ fún ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá lọ sí ìlú ìsásí, pe kí ó padà máa gbé ní ilẹ̀ tirẹ̀ kí ó tó di ìgbà ikú olórí àlùfáà.
33 And you do not profane the land which you [are] in, for blood profanes the land; as for the land, it is not pardoned for blood which is shed in it except by the blood of him who sheds it;
“‘Má ṣe sọ ilẹ̀ tí ẹ wà di àìmọ́. Ìtàjẹ̀ sílẹ̀ sọ ilẹ̀ náà di àìmọ́. Àtúnṣe kì yóò sí fún ilẹ̀ tí a ti ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ lé lórí, àyàfi ẹ̀jẹ̀ ẹni tí ó ta á sílẹ̀.
34 and you do not defile the land in which you are dwelling, in the midst of which I dwell, for I, YHWH, dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel.”
Má ṣe sọ di àìmọ́, ilẹ̀ tí ẹ ń gbé, àti èyí tí mo ń gbé, nítorí Èmi Olúwa ń gbé láàrín àwọn ọmọ Israẹli.’”
