< Numbers 35 >

1 And YHWH speaks to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,
Awo abaana ba Isirayiri bwe baali nga basiisidde mu nsenyi za Mowaabu ku mugga Yoludaani, okwolekera Yeriko, Mukama Katonda n’agamba Musa nti,
2 “Command the sons of Israel, and they have given to the Levites cities to inhabit from the inheritance of their possession; you also give [the] outskirt around them, of the cities, to the Levites.
“Lagira abaana ba Isirayiri nti bawanga Abaleevi ebibuga eby’okubeeramu, nga babiggya mu butaka bwabwe bwe baligabana obw’enkalakkalira. Era babaweerangako n’amalundiro okwetooloola ebibuga ebyo.
3 And the cities have been for them to inhabit, and their outskirts are for their livestock, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
Kale, olwo balibeera n’ebibuga ebyokusulangamu, n’amalundiro ag’ente zaabwe n’endiga zaabwe, awamu n’ensolo zaabwe endala ezirundibwa.
4 And the outskirts of the cities which you give to the Levites [are], from the wall of the city and outside, one thousand cubits around.
“Amalundiro aganaaweebwanga Abaleevi ab’omu bibuga ebyo ganaapimwanga obugazi okuva ku bbugwe w’ekibuga mita ebikumi bina mu ataano.
5 And you have measured from the outside of the city: the east quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the north quarter—two thousand by the cubit; and the city [is] in the midst; this is the outskirts of the cities to them.
Amalundiro ago ganaapimanga obuwanvu bwa mita lwenda ku ludda olw’ebuvanjuba, ne mita lwenda ku ludda olw’ebugwanjuba, ne mita lwenda ku luuyi olw’obukiikakkono, ne mita lwenda ku luuyi olw’obukiikaddyo, ng’ekibuga kiri wakati. Ago ge ganaabanga amalundiro gaabo ab’omu kibuga.
6 And the cities which you give to the Levites [are] the six cities of refuge, which you give for the fleeing there of the manslayer, and besides them you give forty-two cities;
“Ku bibuga bye muligabira Abaleevi kugenda kubeerako ebibuga mukaaga eby’okuddukirangamu, omuntu asse omuntu nga tagenderedde. Okwo mulyoke mwongereko ebibuga amakumi ana mu bibiri.
7 all the cities which you give to the Levites [are] forty-eight cities, them and their outskirts.
Okutwalira awamu muliteekwa okugabira Abaleevi ebibuga amakumi ana mu munaana, mubagattireko n’amalundiro.
8 And the cities which you give [are] from the possession of the sons of Israel; from the many you multiply, and from the few you diminish; each, according to his inheritance which they inherit, gives to the Levites from his cities.”
Omuwendo gw’ebibuga bye muligabira Abaleevi gulyesigamizibwa ku bunene n’obutono obwa buli busika obw’abaana ba Isirayiri. Ab’obusika obunene muliwaayo ebibuga bingi, n’ab’obusika obutono muliwaayo ebibuga bitono.”
9 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Awo Mukama Katonda n’agamba Musa nti,
10 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,
“Yogera eri abaana ba Isirayiri ng’obagamba nti, ‘Bwe musomokanga omugga Yoludaani ne muyingira mu nsi y’e Kanani,
11 and have prepared cities for yourselves—they are cities of refuge to you—then a manslayer, striking a person through ignorance, has fled there,
mweronderangamu ebibuga ebinaabanga ebibuga byammwe eby’okuddukirangamu; ng’omwo omuntu asse omuntu nga tagenderedde mw’anaddukiranga.
12 and the cities have been for a refuge to you from the redeemer, and the manslayer does not die until his standing before the congregation for judgment.
Bye binaabanga ebifo eby’obuddukiro okwewala omuwoolezi w’eggwanga, omuntu ateeberezebwa okuba omutemu alemenga okuttibwa nga tasoose kuwozesebwa mu maaso g’ekibiina.
13 As for the cities which you give, six [are] cities of refuge to you;
Ebibuga ebyo omukaaga bye mugenda okuwaayo bye binaabanga ebibuga byammwe eby’obuddukiro.
14 three of the cities you give from beyond the Jordan, and three of the cities you give in the land of Canaan; they are cities of refuge.
Mugenda kuwaayo ebibuga bisatu ku ludda luno olw’ebuvanjuba olwa Yoludaani, n’ebibuga bisatu mu Kanani, okubeeranga ebibuga eby’obuddukiro.
15 For sons of Israel, and for a sojourner, and for a settler in their midst, are these six cities for a refuge, for the fleeing there of anyone striking a person through ignorance.
Abaana ba Isirayiri n’abagenyi bammwe, n’abagwira abanaabeeranga mu mmwe, mwenna munaddukiranga mu bibuga ebyo omukaaga. Kwe kugamba nti omuntu yenna anattanga omuntu nga tagenderedde anaddukiranga omwo.’
16 And if he has struck him with an instrument of iron, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
“‘Omuntu bw’anaakubanga omuntu n’ekyuma n’amutta, oyo nga mutemu; era omutemu anattirwanga ddala.
17 And if he has struck him with a stone [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Era omuntu bw’anaabanga akutte ejjinja mu ngalo ze, n’akuba munne n’ejjinja eryo, omutemu anattirwanga ddala.
18 Or [if] he has struck him with a wooden instrument [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Oba omuntu bw’anaabanga akutte ekyokulwanyisa eky’omuti mu ngalo ze, ekiyinza okutta omuntu, n’akikubisa munne, munne n’afa, oyo nga mutemu; era omutemu anattirwanga ddala.
19 The redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death himself; in his coming against him he puts him to death.
Omuwoolezi w’eggwanga yennyini y’anattanga omutemu; bw’anaamusisinkananga anaamuttanga.
20 And if he pushes him in hatred, or has cast [anything] at him by lying in wait, and he dies,
Omuntu bw’anaabangako ekiruyi ku munne n’amufumita ng’akigenderedde, olw’obukyayi, oba n’amwekwekerera n’amukasuukirira ekintu ne kimukuba ne kimutta,
21 or he has struck him with his hand in enmity, and he dies, the striker is certainly put to death; he [is] a murderer; the redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death in his coming against him.
oba olw’obulabe bw’amulinako n’amukuba ekikonde, munne n’afa, omuntu oyo amukubye ekikonde anaafanga; kubanga mutemu. Omuwoolezi w’eggwanga y’anattanga omutemu oyo ng’amusisinkanye.
22 And if, in an instant, without enmity, he has pushed him, or has cast any instrument at him without lying in wait,
“‘Singa omuntu afumita munne mangwago, gw’atalinaako bulabe, oba n’akasuka ekintu nga tagenderedde ne kimukuba,
23 or with any stone with which he could die, without seeing, indeed, causes [it] to fall on him, and he dies, and he [is] not his enemy, nor seeking his evil,
oba n’ayiringisa ejjinja, eriyinza okutta omuntu, ne limugwako nga tamulabye, n’afa; olwokubanga teyali mulabe we, era nga yali tagenderedde kumulumya;
24 then the congregation has judged between the striker and the redeemer of blood by these judgments.
kale, olukiiko lw’ekibiina lunaasalangawo wakati we n’omuwoolezi w’eggwanga, nga lugoberera amateeka gano nga bwe gali.
25 And the congregation has delivered the manslayer out of the hand of the redeemer of blood, and the congregation has caused him to return to the city of his refuge, to where he has fled, and he has dwelt in it until the death of the chief priest who has been anointed with the holy oil.
Omussi oyo olukiiko lw’ekibiina lunaamuwonyanga omuwoolezi w’eggwanga, ne lumuleka n’abeeranga mu kibuga kye eky’obuddukiro okutuusa Kabona Omukulu eyafukibwako amafuta ag’omuzeeyituuni amatukuvu ng’amaze okufa.
26 And if the manslayer indeed goes out [from] the border of the city of his refuge to where he flees,
“‘Naye omussi oyo bwe kanaamutandanga n’afulumako mu kibuga kye eky’obuddukiro mwe yaddukira,
27 and the redeemer of blood has found him at the outside of the border of the city of his refuge, and the redeemer of blood has slain the manslayer, blood [is] not [reckoned] to him;
omuwoolezi w’eggwanga n’amala amusanga ebweru w’ekibuga ekyo, n’amutta, omuwoolezi w’eggwanga taabengako musango gwa butemu.
28 for he dwells in the city of his refuge until the death of the chief priest; and after the death of the chief priest the manslayer turns back to the city of his possession.
Kubanga omussi oyo kinaamusaaniranga okubeera mu kibuga kye eky’obuddukiro okutuusa nga Kabona Omukulu amaze okufa. Kabona Omukulu anaamalanga kufa, omussi oyo n’addayo ewuwe mu bintu bye eby’obutaka.
29 And these things have been for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.
“‘Gano ganaabeeranga mateeka gammwe ge munaakwatanga mu mirembe gyammwe gyonna ne buli we munaabeeranga.
30 Whoever strikes a person, by the mouth of witnesses [one] slays the murderer; and one witness does not testify against a person to cause [him] to die.
Omuntu bw’anattanga munne, ne wabaawo obujulizi, omutemu oyo naye anaafanga. Naye tewaabengawo attibwa ku bujulizi obw’omuntu omu yekka.
31 And you take no atonement for the life of a murderer who [is] condemned to die, for he is certainly put to death;
“‘Temukkirizanga mutango olw’okununula omussi asingiddwa omusango ogw’obutemu n’asalirwa okuttibwa; anaateekwanga okuttibwa.
32 and you take no atonement for him [who had] to flee to the city of his refuge, to return to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
“‘Temukkirizanga mutango ogw’okununula omussi abeera mu kibuga eky’obuddukiro, alyoke aveeyo addeyo ewuwe nga Kabona Omukulu tannaba kufa.
33 And you do not profane the land which you [are] in, for blood profanes the land; as for the land, it is not pardoned for blood which is shed in it except by the blood of him who sheds it;
“‘Temwonoonanga nsi gye mubeeramu. Okuyiwa omusaayi kyonoona ensi; okutangiririra ensi omuyiise omusaayi si kyangu, okuggyako ng’etangiririrwa n’omusaayi gw’oyo eyayiwa omusaayi mu nsi omwo.
34 and you do not defile the land in which you are dwelling, in the midst of which I dwell, for I, YHWH, dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel.”
Temwonoonanga nsi mwe mubeera nange mwe mbeera, kubanga Nze, Mukama Katonda, mbeera wakati mu baana ba Isirayiri.’”
